The Ventura County Ballet (”VCB”) strives to connect
artists, audience and community with artistically
engaging performances. We feature national and
international ballet stars performing alongside preprofessionals and students, which provides unique
training, production experience and mentorship for the next
generation of dancers. VCB uses its position of leadership
to develop strong community partnerships and create
unique collaborations with other artistic organizations to
promote art that inspires, expands audiences and builds a

Orchestra and
Education
Our newest venture, DAnce ART, is
an elite dance ensemble created
to support our commitment to
artistic efforts within our community.
DAnce ART’s first appearance was in
collaboration with the Ventura Film
Society screening of the ballet documentary
“First Position.” Before the film, DAnce ART
performed an original work to an enthusiastic soldout crowd.
Each year, Ventura County Ballet partners with
the Ventura College Symphony Orchestra to
provide live accompaniment for performances
of The Nutcracker. The full symphony offers an
incomparable experience for the audience while
providing ballet students the opportunities and
challenges of dancing to live music. The orchestra’s
educational program complements that of the ballet by
providing college student musicians the chance to learn
from and perform with professional musicians.
As the Ventura County Ballet, we have a responsibility to
educate and inspire future generations of both dancers
and audiences. Our outreach program provides free tickets
to performances for underserved families in Ventura County.
DAnce ART was also proud to open
the 2013 ArtWalk weekend with
“Convergence”, a critically acclaimed
blend of dance, visual art and original music
in collaboration with Focus on the Masters.
The Ventura County Ballet has a rich and exceptional
history of working in partnership with organizations
such as the New West Symphony, Ventura County
Community Foundation, Ventura Music Festival,
Master Chorale of Ventura County, the Museum of
Ventura County, the WAV (Working Artists Ventura)
and State Street Ballet of Santa Barbara.
The Ventura County Ballet presents two large-scale
annual productions both featuring unsurpassed sets,
costuming and staging all carefully coordinated to
tell the story and guaranteed to delight all ages. Our
talented seamstresses, set designers and builders,
many of whom are volunteers, are dedicated to
every detail. Commitment to craft inspires the best
in everyone show after show, transporting audiences
to a different time and place. This makes each
production a command performance, conveniently
located at home in Ventura County.
Every holiday season begins with a special performance
of The Nutcracker exclusively staged for local elementary
school students with an emphasis on economically disadvantaged students attending Title 1 schools. Prior to a
performance, teachers receive comprehensive, easy to
use curriculum based on the California state standards to
prepare their students. Last year with the help
of our corporate partners over 1,500 local
children were provided transportation to
the theater to experience the beauty
of the ballet.
‘
Because dance can also provide an
important form of self-expression for
young people, VCB also provides
performances and therapeutic dance
classes for children in foster and kinship
care in our community.
