The home produced a commemorative book entitled Tales from our Home in which they traced and documented their history for the first time in decades, and discovered an amazing story of early pioneering advocates who championed the right for stray and unwanted dogs. The book is also filled with eighty stories of dog rescues and adoptions by the home. Books will be available on the day for $20. Wow! It’s Italian – A Pasta demonstration and talk with Hilda & Laurie Inglese Hilda and Laurie Inglese are first generation Italians living in the Yarra Valley, Victoria.They grew up surrounded with family and traditional recipes from the Abruzzi region in Italy. Their passion for cooking was instilled in them from a very young age and the traditional cooking style makes the food they create truly mouthwatering. The two of them will demonstrate some traditional recipes and talk about what makes the food from the Abruzzi region so special. The Roland Leach Poetry Prize is open to Year 3 to Year 12 students in Western Australia. Submissions open Monday 1 August and close Friday 30 September. Michelle will talk about: • Why posture is important • How it affects overall health and well-being • Basic anatomy of the spine and safe posture and ergonomics • Current technology trends • Advice on how to maintain ‘ideal’ posture, exercise our spines, and how to prevent chronic spinal problems • Basic stretches and exercises that can be done at home. After an initial consultation with our library staff, Books on Wheels clients are matched with one of our friendly volunteers who select from a range of library items. Up to twelve library items are delivered fortnightly on Tuesdays to the client’s door and previous items are collected and returned to the library. Library Bus Nedlands residents unable to visit the library due to lack of transport but who are otherwise mobile are welcome to join our Library Bus service. There are two separate library bus routes that run on alternating Monday mornings. Clients are collected from their home or a designated location and driven to the library by our volunteers where they can select library items and enjoy morning tea.
