I dedicate this book to all
the Pitbulls who will never
find a home and to my own
Pitbull, Roxy, a dog I love
with all my heart.

Hi, my name is Roxy. I am a
Pitbull. I get pretty lonely
sometimes since so many
people stereotype my breed.
Some people say Pitbulls are
mean, but we are not! Most
of us are nice and get along
with everyone, animals and
humans!
4
5
There may be some angry
Pitbulls, but there are angry
people as well. Just because
a few people are mean, I do
not say all people are mean.
Humans should not say all
Pitbulls are bad just because
a few are.
6
7
We, Pitbulls, are not born
mean but made mean by
humans. Whenever a person
hits one of us, sometimes it
causes one of us to become
defensive. We do not desire
to hurt the human that hit
us, but it is how we protect
ourselves, since we cannot
tell the human to stop.
8
9
Since many people say my
breed and I are vicious, we
do not get a lot of love, and
everyone deserves love! So
many of us get abused by
humans and are left to live
on the streets. I am lucky to
have a family to love me.
10
11
Since I have a family, I get to
call them my friends. It is
always fun to play around with
my human friends. They chase
me around and throw my ball
for me to run after. My biggest
wish is for all Pitbulls to have a
family so they can always have
fun playing around and will not
have to be uncomfortable in
adoption centers.
12
13
I am also friends with other
Pitbulls. I am even friends
with a different animal--a
thing most humans say I
cannot do. My best friend is
a cat named Chedder! Of
course, all Pitbulls are
different, so some of us are
not friends with other
animals, but I know many
are.
14
15
I love playing with Chedder
because he understands that
I get lonely sometimes since
lots of humans will not let
me play with their dogs.
Since Chedder knows this, he
plays with me all through
the day and all through the
week.
16
17
The best place to adopt a
Pitbull would be a shelter.
There are many of us in
adoption centers. Sometimes
the people that want to
train us to be vicious get us
from the shelters. This
makes me sad.
18
19
Not only should you adopt a Pitbull
from a shelter, but you should also
spay or neuter your dog. Spaying
and neutering is where you take
away the Pitbull’s (or any animal’s)
way of reproducing. There are
many of us living on the streets
and lots in shelters. If we stop
having puppies, there would be less
abuse to us and less of us crowded
in adoption centers.
20
21
Now that you know about
this information, share it
with all of your friends and
family. Tell everyone you
know that Pitbulls are nice
and deserve to be loved!
