Handmade chassis rails were formed and grafted into the rear of the bus to create suspension travel for the rear control arms and drive shaft A custom driveshaft has been machined with a slip joint to allow the rear suspension to travel up and down freely without binding A top cradle section ties both sides of the Chassis rails in to give structural integrity and also serves as a mounting point for the top of the rear airbags. The air bags have a bottom pivot point that mounts to the bottom control arms. A parallel arm joins the bottom pivot point of the air bag and ties back to the chassis rail to keep the air bag centred through its articulation. The fuel tank has been mounted 250mm higher than stock The motor and gearbox was lifted 200mm to create ground clearance and also lift the centre point of the drive shafts to eliminate the CV joints binding when the suspension is at full drop. Hand formed tubs were fabricated to create clearance for the 20 inch wheels The rear shocks employ a bell crank principle operating a 2:1 ratio to allow for full travel of the suspension and correctly dampen the airbags at drive height. The front chassis rails have been lifted around 60mm in the front to allow the bus to go lower to the ground when the air bags are deflated. This required a lot of surgery structurally. The front suspension and driveline has been narrowed to allow for the Intro Smoothy’s to turn at full lock. The front beam was sourced from the States and has been modified to use an airbag. The air bag system is comprised of stainless steel hard-‐line and uses an Accuair valve block and ride leaning sensors for adjustment. the entire system is touch screen operated through the iPad. The Gear box selector now resides above the floor versus below the floor in its stock form. A necessary modification to allow for the motor to be lifted. The gear shifter mechanism was also modified and relocated between the front seats to make shifting easier for the driver and work in conjunction with the modified motor position. BODY/INTERIOR •

The entire front section of the kombi was cut away and discarded. The main chassis rails under the bus have been boxed in and a tube X section was formed and welded into place to tie the roll cage into the underside of the bus for structural integrity. New front sheet metal was hand formed to create a cleaner look and allow clearance for the 20 inch wheels when the bus is on the ground The rails were smoothed out and reworked for a smoother appearance reminiscent of a hot rod chassis. The interior dash was completely hand formed from sheet metal to coincide with the new look. Billet pieces were designed to house various components such as the mini iPad in the centre, Auto meter gauges etc. A flaming River steering column mounts to another custom made billet bracket. Billet pieces made specifically for the bus include-‐ steering wheel, gauge clusters, steering column mount bracket, pedals, gear shifter knob, hand brake, trim pieces around hand brake and gear knob. The inner and outer front doors have had extensive work-‐ this included creating a one piece door. The wheel arch was welded to the outer door. The door then required sheet metal to be formed and welded inside to create steering clearance when the bus drives. It also served to give the doors a cleaner look when painted. The roof has utilizes two electric actuators to pivot from inside the bus. A framework was created to act as a skeleton inside the roof for structural strength and then the sheet metal roof was grafted over the top to act a cap. Inside the bus pivot points were fabricated and welded around a framework opening. The help the spread the load of the roof when it is open a roll cage was added. The roll cage also serves as a mounting point for the DJ console. Sheet metal modifications include-‐ front door wheel arches grafted to bottom of doors to create cleaner lines to accentuate the timeless feel of the bus Reshaped hip and body lines to sharpen the overall look of the bus to build on the original aesthetic rather than take away from it. It was very important we didn't ruin the great lines-‐
the Kombi is world renowned for its timeless looks we wanted to pay homage to that and work with it rather than against it. Front bumper bar has been sectioned and grafted into the front of the body. this involved pushing it back into the body and then recessing the front number plate into the bumper. The RHS body above the hipline has been replaced with new sheet metal in place of the old window glass. New sections of metal were formed and welded to the LHS and RHS lower sills to clean up the bottom lines and extend the body lower by 1" to give a lower look. ELECTRONICS/TECHNOLOGY DJ EQUIPMENT •
