Sunday 9 August. Nicolas Schatz and Nicolas Werver
bagged a new French champion crown in their respective categories there.
Single-seaters and prototypes are cars built specially
for racing and are grouped in Sport class. The teams
of the two ‘tenors’ of that class, Nicolas Schatz and
Sébastien Petit, have in common Motul’s technical support and the fact that they entered a Norma M20 FC
BMW V8 (approximately 500 hp for 690 kilos). Schatz
clinched on the slopes of Mont-Dore his sixth consecu-

the season, Sébastien Petit was his most fearsome
the third hillclimb. Let’s remember that Petit won at La
Pommeraye in May. Still in Sport, also at the wheel of
a Norma prototype and with Motul’s support, Yannick
Latreille shone by winning CN/2 class.
Production class groups rebuilt touring cars, developing more or less horse power. On the 5 kilometres of
the Mont-Dore climb, Nicolas Werver drove his Porsche
997 Cup to the win for the tenth time this year, thus
bagging the fifth French Champion title. Genuine domination for Motul!

X Rally Team / NWM shines in Brazil
The Dos Sertões Rally is an off-road rally organised in
Brazil which has been won in the recent past by drivers
of the calibre of Stéphane Peterhansel or Carlos Sainz,
or riders such as Marc Coma or Cyril Despres. The 23rd
edition finished on 8 August with a win in car class by
Reinaldo Varela and Gustavo Gugelmin, who finished
second last year. The South-African structure X Rally
Team / NWM, supported technically by Motul, maintained pressure to the end to finally mount the second and
third steps of the podium.
The contenders of the biggest Brazilian rally had to
cross 2900 kilometres across four States. The prologue
and first two stages took place in Goias, then the route
headed to the southern Mato Grosso and, after a leg
through the State of Sao Paulo, the arrival was judged in
Parañas, not far from Paraguay and Argentina.

Team X Rally Team / NWM, which was at the start of the
rally for the 16th time, made a strong impression with
its two Ford Ranger V8 4x4 Dakars. Marcos Baumgart
and Kleber Cincea were a mere 14 minutes or so behind
the winners, while Cristian Baumgart and Beco Andreotti
clinched the best time of three of the seven specials.
The team members can now enjoy some well deserved
rest yet without forgetting to prepare for the Dakar, their
next goal.

Pole positions, podiums and wins for Motul in Ohio
Two weeks after their GT category colleagues, the Touring Car specialists of the Pirelli World Challenge came
together from 13 to 15 August to contend in the three
races of their championship on the Mid Ohio Sports
Car Course. Motul is the official lubricant partner of this
most spectacular series.
The letters TC stand for the top category of American-
shape in Ohio. The same can be said of its driver, Corey
Fergus, from Columbus and who was therefore driving
on home turf. Having bagged the first pole position, he
battled all weekend in the lead to finish successively
2nd, 4th and 5th, thus strengthening his championship
leadership.
style Touring Cars. Bodywork of the coupé, roadster, two- or three-volume saloon and even estate car
types are authorised. The horse power ranges from
250 to 300 hp and can be transmitted by the front or
rear wheels or by four wheel drive. Performances are
balanced by modifying weight. CA Sport Team, which
entered a Nissan Altima, is partnered by Motul in TC.
Its driver, Vesko Kozarov, quit after a collision while
battling for the win in race one. The best time bagged
before the incident however allowed him to leave from
pole in race two which he won. By winning again in
race three, he has now chalked up four wins in 2015.

New win in Open for Loris Baz and Forward Racing
The Czech round of the MotoGP held on 16 August
brought its share of satisfactions to the four teams supported technically by Motul at the top of the motorcycling
sport pyramid. For instance, Forward Racing, which
withdrew at Indy, pulled off a winning return in Open category thanks to Loris Baz. By finishing 15th, the Frenchy
even added another point to his championship total.
‘We made a few adjustments just before the start. The
race was very hard but I’m pleased to give the team
this result because they all worked 100%’.

Viñales, hitherto so steady, unfortunately fell seven laps
from the end. That’s a pity as he had bagged 7th time
in qualifying. His team-mate, Aleix Espargaro, pushed
forward from 15th position on the starting grid to 9th
place at the end. Monster Yamaha Tech 3 again did an
impeccable job with a strong result of 7th and 8th places
for Bradley Smith and Pol Espargaro. The Brit remains a
solid 5th in the championship standings.

The Gixxer Cup gains momentum
The Suzuki Gixxer Cup is now in its second half-season
at the Madras Motor Race Track. This monotype series
based in India receives Motul’s support and has gained significant momentum since it first began in June.
In Open class, for riders over 23 years old, Ananth Raj
won both races of this third meet, thus converting his
12 point deficit into an 11 point lead over his arch-rival
Abhishek V. And to make things even more interesting
for the coming rounds, it all ended with 3 riders tied at
points for 3rd overall in the championship. At Chennai,
Open category undoubtedly gave the finest show, the
five leading riders constantly changing positions, to the
greatest enjoyment of the public.
The Novice class (under 23 year olds) did not disap-
point either, as the top two contenders – Vishewadev
Muraleedharan and Amarnath Menon – took one win
each, leaving Antony Peter and Sreejith PR to battle it

out for the final spot on the podium. Vishewadev holds
a mere two point lead over Amarnath, making for an
equally exciting round 4!
The apprentice Indian champions will be back on their
Suzuki Gixxer SF 155s winding round the 12 corners of
the MMRT during the first weekend of September for
the fourth round.
