Welcome to Simmsational ‘2012’ at Johnstone Auction Mart, Moose Jaw, SK on Thursday, December 6th. Wow! How time flies as this is the 35th
consecutive sale and we have been at every one of them, along with Transcon Livestock.
We are again consigning ten bred heifers from the heart of our program. Six soggy, broody red heifers all bred to IPU Red Western 49X, the $26,000
Beef Maker son going back to the Pocohantas 52N cow. He sold to McMillen Ranching and Kelly Ashworth in our 2011 Bull Sale where he was the
high selling red bull. A son of his was just recently named Grand Champion Simmental Bull at Ag-Ex in Brandon and along with his mother were
named Supreme Champion over all breeds for the Ashworth’s. We’re also consigning four soggy black heifers, two sired by Liner 56U and a super
blaze faced Sweet Meat heifer. These heifers are all A.I. bred and have no exposures.
The future has never looked better for the Simmental breed. The Commercial man has readily accepted the breed with its high maternal traits,
performance, and carcass traits. The Simmental bull sales this spring were exceptional. Now might be the time to pick up some of these good
purebred females that can raise those top bull prospects.

Here’s a tremendous General Lee daughter going back to the Big Sky 71M cow who has just recently
been put into our transplant program. 192Y is blood red in color, is deep and broody, has a beautiful,
feminine front end, is very correct and is setting up a picture perfect udder. If we were going to show
a bred heifer, this would be the one. We think this heifer has a great future ahead of her, whether in
the show ring, in a donor program, or just a great front pasture cow. As an added bonus she’s bred to
the IPU Red Western bull who just recently sired the Bull Calf and Grand Champion Simmental Bull
at Ag-Ex 2012 in Brandon. She is a definite sale feature and one of the best heifers we’ve ever sold.

sell off the KOP Crosby bull. His bull calves this spring
at many different sales were some of the feature bulls
sold and were very well accepted by both the purebred
and commercial people. This stout Crosby daughter is
off a beautiful uddered Red Chief cow going back to the
Shamrock cow family headed by the 120L cow who was
in our donor program. 120Y is moderate framed, broody,
and mated to Red Western 49X.

A very broody Crosby daughter out of the 21P cow who
is sired by a Hart Red Chief son, IPU Red Reflection
36M. You’ve heard us say the best cows we’ve ever had
on the farm as a sire group are the Red Chief cows and
we also have a few cows sired by Red Chief sons that
are awesome. This heifer is a sure bet to make a great
brood female as she’s easy fleshing, moderate, angular,
and is going to have a great udder like her mother.

A powerful, powerful Accelerator daughter out of the Heather 156R cow. 221Y has been
one of our favorites since a calf. Her mother is a really good Granite daughter going back
to the Annika 163G cow who we flushed a few years ago and Heather 156R is one of the
resulting embryo calves. This heifer will be found easily on sale day. She’s a powerhouse,
but still feminine, broody and angular. These are the kind that can raise the $20,000 bull
calves. Bred to Red Western 49X, I would be hoping for a bull calf.

A tremendously long, powerful, Springcreek Liner 56U daughter out of an HC Hummer cow.
Here again is a heifer that can kick out the great ones. She has the power, broodiness
and depth to be a front pasture cow. We are super pleased with our 56U daughters and
anyone that has purchased one of his daughters has been very complimentary about
them. We have never used a bull that has put nicer udders on his females as can be
seen with this heifer’s udder development We’ve had many opportunities to sell 56U
semen but have decided to keep him exclusive. This is a great opportunity to purchase
a great 56U daughter and she’s bred early to the blaze faced Drake Poker Face 2X bull.

A moderate, deep, broody, Springcreek Blk Tank 1U daughter out of another HC Hummer
cow who is a twin sister to the dam of Lot 7. Ourselves, Oberle Bros and Kevin Woods
purchased the Tank bull the same day as we purchased Liner 56U, on the strength of
his mother and his overall thickness and muscle. He has also done a good job for us.
20Y is setting up a really nice udder like her mother and she’s bred to the exciting Poker
Face bull who is creating quite a stir in the industry. He’s a blaze faced Sure Bet son out
of an awesome Temptation cow. He calves easy and puts performance in his calves.
We are really excited about the future of this bull and his offspring.

This is a heifer we’re pretty excited about. Her dam was in our 2010 sale as a choice
lot and 56Y is the calf she was carrying. Frehlick Farms and
R Plus Simmentals chose the other blaze faced Exciter heifer
for $14,000 and we got to keep 120W. The grandmother of
56Y is a black blaze faced Houston daughter who mothered
the high selling bull in our 2012 bull sale. He was a red, blaze
faced Springcreek Liner 56U son selling to Tessier Simmentals
and Diamond M Simmentals for $28,500. We think this young
Sweet Meat daughter has a great future ahead of her. The
blaze on our black and red cattle is getting very popular with our
commercial people and purebred breeders. With this heifer’s
pedigree, type and broodiness, you’ll see why we are excited.

A very feminine Liner 56U daughter out of the 139K cow
who is a powerful Preffered Zima daughter that still walks
our pastures. “56U” is one of the rare bulls that sires both
excellent bulls and females. This spring at our 2012 bull sale,
10 Liner 56U sons sold for over a $13,000 average and a
56U daughter topped the black division of our open heifers.
172Y is a complete, broody heifer and is going to have an
excellent udder and as a bonus she’s bred to Hooks Shear
Force, the calving ease and maternal specialist.

Welcome to my mini production. I’m selling this many head because of the shortage of pasture for next year. I’m bringing to town, for your evaluation, the Great flush cow, Drake Chloe DCC 14P. She sells open and ready to flush. Also some great bred heifers from the heart of my program.
These Red Hummer females work well and have nice tidy udders. The Lakota females are going to make powerful brood cows. These heifers are
bred to Mar Mac Rosco 22X, the Shear Force son who calves easy. The heifers ran with the bulls for 45 days from April 1 to May 15. In the bull pen
there are three Rosco bull calves that will make great heifer bulls. Some of the heifers are bred to Swan Lake Gunner 2W, a bull that I used for three
years and works well. See you on sale day.

Here is a pair of calves that we feel are very special. Both tracing back to the Becky cow family; a family that has done so much for our program. The Becky cow family has produced numerous
herdsires for top purebred operations over the past decade. 68Z is mothered by Becky’s first daughter, who has probably outproduced the old girl. 22Z is out of a full sister to Sargent, who is a well
known AI sire in Canada and the US. Both calves are sired by Anchor D Viper, who is just starting to make his mark. (Keep your eyes open for the Viper bull out of the Becky family to sell in our bull

A tremendous Freedom daughter with a ton of volume, depth of body, and good length in a fancy blaze

So Fancy is just that. This heifer is really neat and here is a great opportunity to purchase
a Car-Laur Mr Wraffles 524W daughter! The Wraffles bull was purchased at 8 months of
age for $7750 from the Wrights in Ontario through the Autumn Classic Sale. He has far
exceeded our expectations siring great bulls and females. We have calved a few Wraffle
daughters this fall and they are impressive. 159Y is out of a powerful Champs Stetson
daughter who milks very well. 159Y is blood red as both sire and dam are. Our fullblood
division is small and this will be a rare opportunity to purchase a polled heifer of this caliber.

We are excited to bring two heifers off the top of our breeding program for our first
Simmsational. 327Y and 365Y are both sired by the IPU Red Ribeye 195P who we
cannot say enough good things about. We have many females off of him in our herd
and are very impressed at how they are producing. Ribeye is out of the 105L cow that
has produced many greats for Barry LaBatte over the years. Ribeye is also a full brother
to Robb’s donor cow, IPU 71N. Sasha 327Y is off of one of our top producing fullblood
cows, EPS 2S, who is sired by Laredo and out of a Navigator cow. Sasha is a moderate
framed, easy fleshing female who will have a bright future ahead of her. The power and
maternal strengths on the top side and shot of Fleckvieh on the bottom is sure to add
some power to any breeding program.

If you’re looking for an easy keeping, big volumed, dark red heifer, 21Y fits the bill. She
is bred to our new $25,000, homozygous polled herdsire IPU Diablo 41Y. We searched
long and hard to find a bull that would fit into our program. Diablo is very well rounded;
he has the pedigree, a solid set of EPDs and most importantly the look. His sire, Crosby,
has worked wonders in our program and others. Diablo’s grandmother, IPU Red Pocahontas 68M, is a foundation flush cow at LaBatte’s. A 7/8th sister sold the same day as
Diablo for $16,500. There could be a great one brewing between this tanky bred and
our exciting new herdsire.
