Carol Cumes, the creator and founder of Willka T’ika and

Willka T’ika is a unique holistic haven in the Sacred
Valley of Peru. It is an experience – the same experience the Inca valued: a pause within travels to
absorb the healing energies of Nature and reflect on
an inner journey.
For the past two decades, the
Quechua-speaking staff, descendants of the Inca, and I
have worked continuously with
Pachamama, Mother Earth to
create this Sacred Space at Willka
T’ika. Offering love, respect and
appreciation for Pachamama
and all living beings on our land,
She shares Her love, healing and
guidance with us. Vibrant, pure energy is profoundly
felt in the gardens, with our 1000-year-old Lucuma
tree growing above ceques, invisible energy lines
connecting two of the most powerful and sacred
mountains in Peru – Sallkantay and Ausangate.
The peace and serenity of the gardens draws guests
into their own heart space, to access internal wisdom
and awaken to innate Divinity.
Since the 1980s, I have been drawn to live, learn
and share the rich ancestral values and customs
of the Quechua, leading to the establishment of
Magical Journey’s comprehensive retreat programs
to Cusco and Machu Picchu based at Willka T’ika.
We offer two fully-inclusive programs: Pachamama
and Lucuma. Both programs touch the heart and
open the mind to ancient Andean cultures and
traditions, balancing tours to mysterious Incan sites
with dedicated group activity time in Willka T’ika:

and renowned Chakra Gardens to further deepen

decision and action considered Pachamama,

of the Gods, vibrant flowers, organic vegetables, high protein cereals, and medicinal

the Fund has provided school buildings, computer rooms, libraries, hot
meals, and school supplies in six, extremely poor communities. It provides
the means for teachers to instill in
their Quechua-speaking students a
pride in their rich heritage. In both
our Magical Journey programs,
guests are invited to a heart-opening
experience visiting a community
school to interact with the Quechua children.
Nourish with Pachamama
Since the founding of Willka T’ika, my intention has been to provide organically
grown food that has a high vibrational frequency. While at Willka T’ika, healthy
vegetarian organic meals are included in the cost.
Meals using freshly harvested vegetables are prepared with love in our kitchen.
Guests are delighted to taste exquisite soups, salads and the unusual Andean
flavors of our 3-course gourmet vegetarian meals with delicious desserts.
We have designed our nutritious dishes to take advantage of local high-protein
ingredients such as the Andean Tarwi, Kiwicha and Quinoa. We don’t serve fish,
poultry or meat. Guests on vegan or gluten-free diets are accommodated.
The Quechua staff are also versed in Incan herbal remedies and happily prepare
special healing teas for guests. With such loving hospitality, Willka T’ika is renowned as a unique holistic haven in nature.

Willka T’ika, Designed for Group Retreats
Seeking the Profound Andean Experience
Traditionally, the Quechua relate life in
n three worlds of Pachamer world that also lives
ama, Mother Earth: ujhupacha, her inner
within our human cells; kaypacha, the middle world
of plants, humans and animals; and hanaknakpacha, the upper world of divinity wheree
the Andean gods dwell in the apukuna, the mountain
municating with
peaks. Respecting, honoring and communicating
these three worlds, Willka T’ika becamee a reality, while
embracing the ancestral concept of ayni,
ni, the reciprocal exchange
of living energy – an ancient Andean practice that follows the natural principal of balanced giving and receiving, which still permeates
every aspect of Quechua life. Ayni is one of the richest legacies to
have survived in their culture, and today, it authentically continues to
enrich the Willka T’ika experience.
The Original Sacred Chakra Gardens
Willka T’ika is home to the unique Seven
Chakra Gardens featured in the three-time
Gold award-winning book written by Carol
Cumes, “Chakra Gardens, Opening the Senses
of the Soul.” Each garden contains symbols,
shapes, sculptures, and Incan medicinal plants
that resonate with one of the seven chakras,
or energy centers, of the human body. The
plant life flourishing in each garden are of
the particular vibration associated with that
chakra, creating a colorful infusion of palpable
healing energy. From vibrant colors to transformative aromas, the gardens
invite profound levels of self-awareness and re-connection to Pachamama,
Mother Earth.
In the crown chakra garden, a 1000-year-old Andean lucuma tree connects
guests to the energy and wisdom of the ancient Incan civilization. The grassy
area beneath the lucuma tree is a perfect place for meditation or outdoor
yoga. Willka T’ika gardens also invite guests to experience organic Andean
medicinal herbs, flowers, grains, and vegetables. The exuberant energy resulting from this co-creative partnership with nature enhances the well-being of
our workers, guests, and our local community.
SPECIAL FACILITIES AT WILLKA T’IKA
Willka T’ika’s beautiful indoor spaces created for group gatherings
are set aside for meditation, yoga, dance, spiritual ceremonies
or conferences. Individual guests may use the facilities when not
reserved by a group.
Rimaywasi Gathering Room and Bar
Groups may gather in a spacious living room with a fireplace.
Teas and baskets of freshly harvested herbs from the garden
are available during the day 6:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m, and 3:30 p.m.
– 5:30 p.m. Local, organic Quillabamba coffee is offered each
morning from 6:30 a.m.
Dining: Two large dining areas look out to the gardens.
Yachaywasi Library: Guests may enjoy the extensive library
with cozy fireplace.
Takiwasi Music Shala: Equipped with indigenous instruments and other
musical accessories for meditation, the house of music is perfect for meetings
and meditation sessions around the warm fireplace.
Yoga and Multi-Purpose Studios
Our two beautiful spacious, sunlit studios
with hardwood floors are perfect for group
gatherings. The magnificent Kuntur Runtu
Studio with mountain views generously
accommodates 55 people. The smaller garden
studio, Yogawasi, fits 25-30 comfortably. These
studios are fully equipped with yoga mats,
blankets, blocks, and yoga/meditation accessories, as well as sound systems with iPod
connections. When not reserved by a group,
individuals are welcome to practice yoga in
the Yogawasi at their leisure.
Nina Fire Pit: The outdoor ceremonial fire pit is available for all groups. Surrounded by flowers, grass and a large circle of stones, Nina is a magical place
where gentle primal spirits prevail. In this Sacred Space, Willka T’ika’s Qero
healer friends make offerings of gratitude to Pachamama. By burning the
offering in the fire pit, transformation becomes possible.
Pacha Ñawi, Eye of the Earth: A ceremonial temple with a fireplace, available
for pre-arranged indoor group gatherings.
Traditional Andean Ceremonies
and Willka T’ika Offerings
Traditional Andean Haywarikuy, Offerings to Pachamama (included in both retreats)
Conducted by an authentic Qero Pakko healer and ritual specialist, the group participates in
a special Andean offering to Mother Earth. Offered for personal and group healing, and the
well-being of Mother Earth, this ceremony has been practiced by Qero healers since pre-Incan times. It concludes with a transformative fire ceremony that carries the group essence
into the Andean spirit-filled world.
Coca-leaf Readings (available in both retreats with small donation for the healer)
When a Qero coca-leaf reader is in residence for a pre-arranged group, individual guests may
request a reading. Quechua translator is provided. Sessions are approximately 15 minutes.
Personal Qero Healings (available in both retreats with small donation for the healer)
The Qero Pakkos offer private healings and an offering to take home, to individuals, upon request.
Bodywork and Spa Services (for additional fees)
Willka T’ika offers a range of quality therapeutic spa treatments, massage styles, facials and reflexology
to restore the body. Other specialties include the Crystal Light Therapy from John of God Brazil, and Solar
Baths. Services are arranged when guests are at Willka T’ika.

A spiritually attuned professional dancer from Cusco leads groups on a wonderful dance through each
Chakra Garden. This break-through, fun and uplifting program that returning leaders love to include assists

Andean Musicians (included in Lucuma retreat)
Highly accomplished traditional Andean musicians offer an evening musical treat for your group at Willka

The artwork of Marius, a staff member at Willka T’ika, is highly acclaimed and his work is found in homes all

Leaders of a special interest group may choose all or some of the guided outings included in the itinerary of choice, and
request more group time at Willka T’ika. Either way, each fully-inclusive program has its set fixed price and proven satisfaction for over 28 years – an incomparable value for this unique experience.
Prices given by Magical Journey are net to leader and should be marked up as required. Prices per participant, based on
shared double, with minimum of 8 participants. As an added bonus, for every 10 fully paid guests, the 11th land cost is at a
50% discount (the 11th participant/group leader). For every 15 fully paid guests, one leader land cost is free (the 16th participant/group leader). For 30+ paid guests, the 31st and 32nd guests receive free land cost. The gratis land costs are based on
shared accommodation. There will be no further discounts. We appreciate your participation and understanding. Peruvian

Ayahuasca and Ayni

his insights, while sharing my concerns about many
Peruvian ayahuasceros and foreign shamans casually
offering these ceremonies during the decades I have led
groups in Peru.
Finally, the serendipitous moment came when Dennis
became available to lecture at this conference in 2012,
to partner with my only trusted Peruvian ayahuascero,
whom I have observed working with groups and individuals at Willka T’ika for the past two years. He is the only

If you are passionate about providing those around you with nourishing creations and feel stuck by recipe
books, then I invite you into the realm of gourmet food that’s never been made before. We will learn to find
ingredients for gourmet meals wherever we are. We will focus on ingredient-grouping, creating flavor profiles,
and understanding the use of textures. This learning will take place in one of the most beautiful and inspiring
places on Earth.
In Willka T’ika’s spacious kitchen and dining rooms we will learn the simplicity of “spontaneous” meal creation,
using food from Willka T’ika’s abundant gardens. On our trips to the produce market and local organic farms,
we’ll learn about selecting the raw materials for the day’s meals.
What I mean by “spontaneous” is the idea that we use what we have locally – minimal reliance on imported
ingredients leads to the simple concept of using what’s available from nearby sources to create meals that are
satisfying and delicious.
When we play in the kitchen we’ll be using templates and concepts that can be applied anywhere there’s fresh
produce available. Using the idea of categories rather than specific ingredients, we will create gourmet food
that will open your awareness to a new level of what’s possible using vegetarian, vegan, and raw ingredients.
This October we begin our journey into the heart of the “Spontaneous Cafe” in the Sacred Valley leading to the
slopes of Machu Picchu.
Join us in this ancient land for an exploration of this region. We will learn to adopt principles of simplicity and
local sourcing all while nourishing the mind, body, and palette.

Friday
Arrival in Delhi. You will be met and transferred to your
luxury Oberai Maidens Hotel.
7:00 p.m. Orientation at the Hotel, followed by a delicious Indian dinner. (D)
Day 02
Saturday
a.m. Train to Amritsar, Punjab’s second largest town. Amritsar has been sacred to the Sikhs since the time of the
fourth guru, Ram Das (1574-1581). We will experience
the sanctity of the holiest of all Sikh shrines – it promises
to be yet another spiritual experience one will never forget.
Amrit means nectar, and sar means pool- “Pool of the
Nectar of Immortality” named after the sacred pool in
the Golden temple. The temple itself is a haven of peace
amidst a congested city. The atmosphere is particularly
powerful before dawn to early light when the surrounding glistening white marble pavement is still cold under
foot, and the gold begins to shimmer on the water.
Amritsar is immensely spiritual and welcoming to all who
visit. As a spiritual nerve center of the Sikh faith, every
Sikh dreams of visiting the temple and bathing in the
holy water. With heads covered and feet bare, the group
will be led by our Sikh guide as we listen to the hymnsinging en masse and observe thousands of pilgrims at
worship, or walking clockwise around the temple.
As in all revered temples, shoes, socks, sticks and umbrellas are left outside at the cloakroom. Visitors wash
their feet outside the entrance and wear headscarves.
Voluntary service and dedication is the most fascinating
feature of modern Sikhism. It extends to the kitchen
staff feeding up to 10,000 people a day, with 3000 people at each sitting. Pilgrims receive free meals.
p.m. Visit to the Waga border with Pakistan to attend a
very unique ceremony as they close the gates between
India and Pakistan. This is not to be missed. That evening we will visit the Golden Temple for a night ceremony. Overnight stay in a clean, basic town hotel. (B.D)

The wonders of life’s incredible resilience and adaptability
highlight this Magical Journey – an exploration into the
oldest desert in the world. Life itself will amaze, as you head
into the rock, shrubs and sands of the Namib, located on our
mother continent.
Incredibly large water-dependent animals such as elephant
and rhino have adapted to living on the sparse moisture and
vegetation of this desert. Large antelope such as the stately
Gemsbok and Eland have made the desert dunes their home.
Animals and plants have evolved specifically to, not merely
survive, but thrive in the moistureless heat and cold of this
tropical desert.
Gaze upon open planes and scenery that could only be described as ‘other worldly’, though the prevailing wildlife is so
