Governor’s Report
February 2015
Well 2015 is here and we are in a little bit of a lull for a couple months before
the next competition season starts in the Southwest Region. I don’t have much to say
in this article, I think…... For later in the year, we have reserved the Motorsports
Ranch up near Fort Worth for an event in August. Originally it wasn’t going to
happen, but things worked out. Thanks to Joe Reese for getting this set-up for the
club. I mentioned this in my last article, for those that may think about doing some
competing in 2015, during the next couple months, please give your Corvette a
checkout. Let alone, it is always a good idea to check all of your cars occasionally for
normal and abnormal wear.
In March, Cen-Tex will be hosting/supporting the Southwest Region Fundraiser
at TSTC on March 21 and 22. I sent out a copy of the flyer in the last week of January,
if you didn’t get it, please send me an email ([email protected]) if you
are interested in being an entrant for this event. As mentioned, we are supporting
this event and as a fundraiser for the region all entrants will work at some point
during the event. Our club is looking to do timing, registration, 1 or 2 at staging, and
hopefully help at one corner (if we do a set up like last year). I will hopefully have a
volunteer list out in the next few days.
In April, we will be holding our own Autocross at TSTC, we will be hosting this
event with Mid-Coast as we have for the past several years. I will also send out a
volunteer list for that one. We will be needing volunteers for all parts of the event,
starting, staging, corner workers, gate keeper, and desserts for lunch.
I think I discussed a little more than I expected to say in this article, the Southwest
Region schedule for 2015 is in the newsletter for members to review with a variety of
events on the schedule. Also we are considering a practice autocross at TSTC in the
next month or so, if you are interested, please come to the February meeting when it
will be discussed. I will hold off on showing results until after the first events are
finalized for 2015 for Cen-Tex Corvette Club and Texas Competition Corvette Club
members and clubs.

Exclusive Corvette Engine Build Experience Returns
Program renewed for supercharged LT4 engine at new Bowling Green
build center
Chevrolet announced today it is resuming the exclusive Engine Build Experience for
Corvette Z06 customers – the only program of its kind for supercar customers.
Starting in March 2015, Corvette Z06 customers will be able to assemble the 650-hp
supercharged LT4 engine for their cars at the new Performance Build Center inside
the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
“Chevrolet recognizes the passion customers have for Corvette and the Engine Build
Experience offers them a truly unique opportunity for hands-on involvement in the
creation of the heart of their new car,” said Harlan Charles, Corvette product
manager. “It’s a chance to bond with their new car.”
The Engine Build Experience is selected with order code PBC and is offered on all Z06
trim levels. The $5,000 package includes a full day with a Performance Build Center
engine assembly technician who instructs and oversees the build, a personalized
engine plaque identifying the owner/builder and the date of the engine build, and
professional photography of the experience.
After the order is submitted, personnel from the National Corvette Museum will
handle concierge services for the customer, following up on the scheduled build date
and handling logistics on the day of the build. The customer is responsible for travel
costs to Bowling Green and lodging.
Upon completion, the engine moves to the vehicle assembly area of the plant, where
it will be installed with the scheduled assembly of the customer’s Z06.
“It’s important for customers to understand their engine won’t be installed the day
after they built it,” said Charles. “It will flow into the scheduling process for vehicle
assembly, which depends on a number of logistical variables.”
Customers can catch their Corvette being assembled through a special tour organized
by the National Corvette Museum. They can also opt for Museum Delivery (order
code R8C), which personalizes the buying experience with delivery at the National
Corvette Museum, located across the road from the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
The assembly line tour and Museum Delivery are available for Corvette Stingray and
Z06 customers.
Secretary’s Report
Cen-Tex Corvette Club
Minutes of the General Meeting
January 6, 2014
Call to Order – Willie Stillman, President
The president called the meeting to order at 7:05pm. Approximately thirty members
were in attendance. There were no visitors.
Willie called on Mike Meyers to give a report on past and future events. Mike
reported that forty-nine members had signed up for the Annual Banquet and
Installation of Officers at the Baylor Club in McLane Stadium on Saturday, January
31st. He reviewed the menu options for the banquet and encouraged anyone else that
wanted to attend to give the club a check for the dinner that evening
Mike has planned a Valentine’s Day lunch cruise to the German restaurant in Walberg
on Saturday, February 14th. He has also invited the HOT Corvette Club in Killeen to
join us. CTCCers who want to go should meet at the American Bank on Hwy. 84 at
10:30am on Saturday.
Willie reported on the upcoming, overnight road trip to San Antonio on Saturday,
January 17th. The purpose of the trip is to buy and deliver needed supplies to the
Fisher Houses in the South Texas area. The Fisher Houses are long-term residences
for families with severely-wounded soldiers who are still hospitalized. The majority
of the funds for this effort ($5,000 plus a $200 donation from the club) were raised by
the club’s 16th Annual Great American Corvette and Chevy Day Car Show last
September. CTCCers who want to go should meet at the American Bank on Hwy. 84
at 8:00am on Saturday. A stop for breakfast is scheduled.
Governor’s Report—Craig Kamradt
Craig gave report on upcoming NCCC-sanctioned events in the Southwestern Region
this spring. He also polled the group to determine how many autocrosses CTCC itself
and its ghost club, CCCT, wanted to have sanctioned and where. The results are
shown below.
• Saturday and Sunday, March 21st and 22nd at TSTC in Waco (Regional Fund
Raiser - everyone will have to pay to race. Lunch will be provided by TSTC
Skills students for an additional charge)
• Saturday and Sunday, April 11th and 12th at TSTC in Waco (CTCC’s first
autocross). A volunteer sign-up sheet will be passed around at a future General
Meeting. Remember, this is how the club raises funds for future club activities.
• Saturday, August 15th at Texas Motorsports Park in Cresson (CTCC’s second
autocross— everyone has to pay to race; no lunch will be provided)
• Saturday and Sunday, October 30th and November 1st in Waco (CTCC/Tejas
event)
Secretary’s Report—Geof Schwer
Tom Reynolds made a motion to approve the minutes of the December, 2014 General
Membership Meetings as written in the newsletter. The motion was seconded by
Kathy Schwer and it passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report—Joe Reese
We still have money in the treasury.
Newsletter Editor’s Report—Colleen Kamradt
Colleen asked the officers to send their reports for the newsletter to her by no later
than Tuesday, January 20th.
Membership Report—Joe Reese for Penny Reese
Joe reported that we have sixty-one (61) paid-up members as of this date. He sent
out a new membership list via email to all members earlier that day.
Webmaster’s Report—Richard Finley
The latest copy of the newsletter is on the website.
National Corvette Museum Representative’s Report—Joe Reese
Joe said that the museum was still busy “filling the sinkhole.”
Historian’s Report—Jerome Carter
History is still being made by the club, so send Jerome all the photos you have of our
events.
Mystery Handshaker
Scott Lloyd picked Randy Billingsly as the Mystery Handshaker. Randy drew Joe
Reese’s name. Joe won half of the $27.00 in the pot but gave it back to the club for
future charitable donations.
Old Business—Various Members
Willie reviewed some of the things that the club would be buying for the Fisher
Houses during the road trip to San Antonio. He said that representatives of the
organization had given him a list of necessary goods and supplies so the shopping
portion of the trip should be relatively short and easy. He asked if there were any
volunteers who would like to visit some of the soldiers who were hospitalized during
the trip.
Willie reported that we would have to raise at least $2,000 to pay for our Annual
Banquet at the Baylor Club in McLane Stadium. Fortunately, based on the number of
members who have already signed-up, we have met that goal.
New Business—Various Members
The Cen-Tex Corvette Club’s Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, January 20th at
the Casa de Castillo Restaurant in Waco.
Adjournment—Willie Stillman
There being no further business, Willie asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion
was made by Don Franklin. The meeting adjourned at 7:47pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Geof Schwer, CTCC Secretary
