The N-C Bobbinless Carpet Binders are the most
advanced machines available for binding carpet
samples. Traditionally a Sample Binder (SB), it is easily
converted to a Cove/Wall Base Binder. The customized
adjustable cove base width guide installs in seconds,
assuring an even feed. It can bind 3600 feet of carpet
cove base per hour (60 feet per minute) effortlessly.

Base Cutter
The NC-250 carpet cutter allows you to cut 6 four
inch strips in one pass. The blades are easily
adjustable and removable, thus allowing you to
generate strips at a maximum of 24 inches. Above
all else, your knees and back will thank you.
How the machine works:
This portable cutter is on wheels and rolls right
along your carpet roll. The NC250 is a walk behind
unit designed to pull itself through the carpet. As an
operator, you simply butt the carpet up against the
guide and turn on the blades. Once the blades catch
the carpet, it ensures exact cuts.
Carpet Cove/Wall
Base Winder
Pre-cut cove/wall base strip is locked into the wheel
hub. Large 30" lucite disks contain the cove/wall base
on the reel, which is motorized with a clutch to adjust
speed while winding the cove/wall base on the spool.
The wound-up reel is easily removed for future binding.

Or, pre-cut cove/wall base can be fed into a binding
machine. As it exits, it can be power-fed into the
winder, utilizing a separate foot pedal. The finished
bound reel of cove/wall base is easily removed, ready
to take on location for installation. The winder has
120-foot capacity within its 30" clear plastic disks.

The 81200-S brings new meaning to the phrase
“heavy duty.” It is the world’s most industrial carpet
binder. The 81200-S, A.K.A. “The Humvee,” was
developed to combat tough sisals, Berbers, etc. This
double puller, bobbinless machine is able to bind
any carpet effortlessly. If your workroom is flooded
by tough, thick-back carpets, the “S” is your best
option.

Company History & Value Statement
In Our Fourth Generation
Family owned and operated for more than 60 years, N-C Carpet Binding & Equipment Corp. and
Newark Caplan Sewing Machine have pioneered, designed, and engineered numerous innovations
utilizing industrial sewing machines.
Family members A. Joseph Caplan and Maliad Maher started the business after service in the military. Maher became the expert in setting up entire garment factories with equipment required to
manufacture clothing.
Caplan branched out in the development of special sewing machines for the carpet industry. He is
credited with developing the first bobbinless, zig-zag, double chainlock stitch machine to tape and
bind carpets, top and bottom, in one operation.
Mel Maher and Mark Caplan have spearheaded the development of the industry’s bobbinless
portable carpet binder and the all new portable serger. In addition, their efforts have led N-C into
developing custom machinery for dozens of industries.
The most recent addition to management is Mel’s son Mal Maher. Mal recently received an MBA in
PMS 641
international management and marketing. He directs international accounts, website design, and
marketing efforts.
