To become an accredited Pony Club Instructor in NSW or any state in Australia
you will be accredited under the National
Coaching Accreditation Scheme. This is
under the umbrella of the Australian
Sports Commission.
The Pony Club Association of NSW now
operates under this scheme and the NCAS
is the only accreditation now available to
our instructors to be accredited. The “old
PCANSW” certificates can be updated and
still hold their place in the system but no
new certificates under that system can be
obtained.
Assessments are organised by the Zones
and you should be able to do one in your
own zone.
If the numbers are not enough to
have one in your zone you can
apply to another zone.

You will be required to teach a
group of three riders for your

gear check task. It is mandatory
that you have this many riders.
Check with your Co-ordinator if a

supply your own food and drink.
After all the candidates have been
assessed you will meet with the
assessors to find out your results.
If you are successful you will need
to fill out the relevant paperwork
supplied by the assessors.




AFTER THE ASSESSMENT:

Your NCAS certificate is current for
4 years. In that time you need to
do some updating ie. Attend a 2
day instructors school, teach at
Pony Club etc.
The update sheet is able to be
downloaded off the PCANSW website.
Keep track of the expiry date and
send in the update sheet at the
time of expiry not before.
You should receive notifycation via your ZCI when
it is due, but it is
ultimately your
responsibility.
PCANSW pay your registration to
the Australian Sports Commission
every four years.
Within three weeks you will receive your certificate from
PCANSW.

Pony Club Event Photography
As competitors in equestrian events, one of the
most exciting things after a competition is seeking out any professional photographs taken of
you and your horse in action. But remembering
the name or website of the photographer, or if
there even was a photographer at the event are
the common reasons for missing out on great
photos to mark your achievements.
How does GeoSnapShot work?


The club’s own designated photographers
(Mums & Dads, friends, or local hobbyist
photographers) take photos at the Pony

My name is Grace McKinley, I am 11 years old and a member of Marulan Pony Club. My
horses name is Waymere Delight, she loves to she loves to jump. I love Pony Club because
it’s so much fun riding with my friends. When I am not horse riding I like to sing in the Australian Girls Choir. If I had three wishes I would buy Mum a new horse because I’m riding
hers!, build some stables and help teach disabled children to
ride.

November Horseland Club of the Month, Corindi Pony Club, Zone 9
Corindi Pony Club is in Zone 9 and meets once a month
at the Corindi Pony Club grounds at Corindi Beach. The
club has been running since 1992 (22) years and currently has approximately 15 riding members ranging in age
from 7 to 17 and 14 non-riding members who are our
valued volunteers.
The club offers instruction in the following disciplines
Dressage/Flat Work, Jumping, Sporting, & Polocross as
well as lessons in proper horse care and safety. A typical
rally day involves Troup Drill, Flat Work, Jumping, and
Sporting after lunch. Rally Days are divided into 45 minute ‘lesson’ periods and the riders are placed in groups according to experience
and ability. Each Group is rotated through each discipline. Other fundraising or
social events run at Corindi Pony club including Raffles (supported by the local Hotel), Fundraising Chocolate Sales, & Community Grant Applications.
The best thing about being a member of Corindi Pony Club is that it’s a small club,
with fantastic support and help from the parents involved. Many of the families
are related, and at one stage there were 3 generations of the one family as members. This small Pony Club is one of the pillars of the community.
December Horseland Club of the Month, Robertson Pony Club, Zone 10
Robertson Pony Club, Zone 10, meets every first and third Sunday at Robertson
Showgrounds. The club has been running for 26 years and currently has approximately 10 riding members ranging in age from 4 to 24 and several non-riding
members who are our valued volunteers.
The club offers instruction in the following disciplines; showjumping,
sporting, dressage, showriding and
mounted games as well as lessons in
proper horse care and safety. A typical rally day involves a quick gear
check, fun warm up for the riders,
ground work warm up for the horses,
then we often split into groups to do activities such as sporting races, dressage,
flat work, trot poles, or jumping, before a cool down. Other fundraising, or social
events run at Robertson Pony club include pony club dinners and our Annual
Christmas Party Rally Day.
The best thing about being a member of Robertson Pony Club is watching the
small club grow, and the kids having a great time with their ponies.
