Supplied in prefinished sections with tongue and groove on all sides, presanded and factoryfinished with hard wax oil. The parquet is fully glued down to the substrate and after the adhesive cure time should only be installation waxed. DESIGN 2.0 provides a finished surface very quickly which entails a significant time savings on the building site. In appearance, DESIGN 2.0 is nearly identical to the traditional industrial parquet, but the strips are slightly wider. The floor is constructed of narrow strips that are linked on the underside with milled-in plywood strips. small dimensions. When fitting to the room, the parquet sections can be sawn with a bandsaw or jigsaw, which entails significant time savings in connection with installation. The parquet is supplied in finished sections, 7.8 mm thick, 632 mm long x 312 mm wide. Because the strips are not glued together, they can expand and dry with no risk of so-called side-gluing. The joined floor sections contribute to greater and better adhesion to the substrate and parquet adhesive. The risk of strip separation is consequently very low compared with ordinary industrial parquet of The parquet is fully glued down to the substrate, which also provides very good room acoustics. The parquet is ideal for gluing to panels or directly on walls as an accent wall or similar. The parquet is installed descending in one direction, but the direction can also be turned since the tongues and grooves fit on both the long and short sides. Normal drying filler and levelling compounds must be used. Not approved as a substrate for gluing. VINYL OR LINOLEUM FLOORING CELLULAR PLASTIC (EPS, EXPANDED POLYSTYRENE) IMPACT NOISE REDUCTION A specially designed cork-PU mat can be fully glued down to concrete, particle board, or plywood. DESIGN 2.0 is thereafter glued to the mat. Impact noise improvement: EN ISO 140-8 17 dB. See floating particle board. Normally not approved as a substrate for gluing. GYPSUM STONE OR TILE FLOOR HEATING General: The surface is sanded or roughened with sandpaper. Solvent-based parquet adhesive is used for gluing. If the stone/tile has been treated with polish or comparable, there is risk that the adhesive will separate from the substrate in spite of the sanding. NOTE In these cases, you should contact the adhesive manufacturer directly. There are no technical barriers to combining DESIGN 2.0 with subfloor heating. Not approved as a substrate for gluing. VENTILATED SUBFLOOR (of the Granab and Nivell System types). One layer 22 mm flooring particle board, installed crosswise, glued together and attached to the studs to which DESIGN 2.0 is glued. FACTORY INSTALLED IMPACT NOISE REDUCTION DESIGN 2.0 can also be supplied factory installed on a cork-PU mat. Impact noise improvement: EN ISO 140-8 17 dB. ADHESIVE TYPE The adhesive supplier should always be consulted about gluing down wood flooring to the substrate. EcoSimp Flooring (Swan eco-labelled) may be a suitable adhesive. Almedals Trägolvsaktiebolag | Tel: +46 31-15 00 66 | [email protected] | www.almedalsgolv.com 17 v1.0 140227 INDUSTRIAL PARQUETDESIGN 2.0 Smoked Oak Select - Scandic South Harbour, Copenhagen TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS You must read Almedals installation instructions before you begin the installation. If you are unsure about anything, you must contact Almedals before the work is begun. INSTALLATION Installation direction: We recommend that the strips are laid crosswise to the source of natural light. Before the floor installation is begun, you must check that the substrate is level and meets standard requirements set out in AMA Hus 11. The floor is not limited as to the size of contiguous surfaces that may be installed. However, the floor should not be glued over any movement joints in the underlying concrete floor. Check that the temperature in the room is about 20 degrees Celsius at 30-60% relative humidity. Snap out two start lines equal to two parquet rows, 624 mm. Check that the packages are labelled with the right floor before they are opened. Note that the floor must be installation waxed before it is used. It is also important that the floor is not cleaned with water during the first 2 weeks before the wax is cured. HANDLING PACKAGES DESIGN 2.0 is delivered in sealed plastic packaging. STORAGE Store the packages unopened until they are installed. The parquet must have had enough time to adjust to the room temperature of approx. 18-22 degrees C before it is installed. Remember that the lines should be about 1 cm inside the edge of the parquet section. This prevents the glue from sticking out alongside the last row and drying under the tongue. NOTE Note that the glue quantity required of 1 litre (approx. 1.5-1.6 kg) per m2 may cause problems in installation because it may be more difficult to joint the tongues and grooves in the floor section because there is vertical movement in the glue. The glue can also be pressed sideways outside the floor section. As a result, glue may end up between tongues and grooves. Be careful to check that glue has not been pressed out under the tongue and allowed to cure before installation of the next row is begun. Installation is considerably simplified with application of 0.5-0.6 litres (approx. 0.8-1.0 kg) per m2. Do not glue larger surfaces than you have time to install before the glue begins to dry. The open time of the glue varies according to types and conditions. Open at least 2-3 packages and distribute the sections before installation. This is done to ensure a correct result where the appearance of the parquet varies among the rows. Remember to lock the sections on the short side against the wall using wedges or similar so that they cannot slide apart. Spread out the sections and distribute them based on appearance and flatness. If you are going to install a convex or concave section, the next section must be flat. If two convex sections are installed next to each other, the convexity will be permanent even after the glue has cured. Fit the section at the short end first and then fit the long side. Avoid fitting them sideways, short side to short side, as this will lead to the glue ending up between the sections, with gaps as a result. Install the next row offset (min 15 cm) to create a brickwork pattern. The parquet should not be installed side by side with no offset. Thereafter, each section is installed one after the other. The part cut off at the wall is used as the starting piece of the next row. Almedals Trägolvsaktiebolag | Tel: +46 31-15 00 66 | [email protected] | www.almedalsgolv.com 18 v1.0 140227 INDUSTRIAL PARQUETDESIGN 2.0 Oak Object surface finish 1401 - Friskis o Svettis Fitness Centre, Lidingö TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS You should roll the parquet before the glue has cured. The first and last rows must be wedged against the walls while the glue is curing to prevent the parquet from sliding apart. Leave an expansion gap of approx. 5-10 mm from all permanent fixtures. The parquet can usually be sawed with a jigsaw if two guide strips remain. If there is only one guide strip left, the strips will slide apart and separate. In these cases, the section must be held together with tape while it is being sawn. Lay the section on a table or comparable while you are sawing it. An alternative is to use a portable bandsaw that can be used to saw the section in different directions. If you will be making straight cuts, along walls for example, the section should instead be laid on a board and sawn with a circular saw fitted with a guide bar. If the section is sawn along a wall or similar, the strips may be serrated on the vertical. See illustrations below. In these cases, use a straight edge or comparable to press the strips down to a level surface. Avoid walking on the parquet other than in exceptional cases because it can easily slide apart, especially if you walk with long steps. Note that the floor should be installation waxed using SAICO or OSMO maintenance wax and a red polishing pad before it is used. It is also important that the floor is not cleaned with water during the first 2 weeks before the wax is cured. Almedals Trägolvsaktiebolag | Tel: +46 31-15 00 66 | [email protected] | www.almedalsgolv.com 19 v1.0 140227 INDUSTRIAL PARQUETDESIGN 2.0 Oak Rustic - Schenker, Göteborg TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS CARE INSTRUCTIONS INSTALLATION FINISHING Note that the floor should be installation waxed using SAICO or OSMO maintenance wax and a red polishing pad before it is used. It is also important that the floor is not cleaned with water during the first 2 weeks before the wax is cured. GENERAL ADVICE Stop the dirt at the entrance. For this reason, you should always have an effective doormat inside the exterior door and, if possible, outside as well. Keep the temperature and humidity as constant as possible to avoid excessive movements in the flooring material. Protect the wood floor against all types of liquids. Wipe up any spills immediately. Felt or Teflon (special) protective pads - but not metal - should be fitted to furniture. CLEANING Make it a regular routine to remove visible soiling such as dust, crumbs, gravel, etc. Vacuum cleaning, sweeping, or dry mopping will remove most dry particles. Damp mopping with a very lightly damp cloth or mop may be done as needed. Dry mop immediately afterwards! - Never leave a damp area on an oiled wood floor. When you are damp mopping an oiled floor, it is a good idea to add an oil-refreshing soap cleaner to the water. Oil-refreshing floor soap has an oil content of 20-30% and should not be compared to ordinary yellow or green soap. A pH neutral cleaning product should be used on varnished floors. 1. Always try a weak soft soap solution first and rub the spot with a cloth or scouring pad. MAINTENANCE OF HARD WAX OIL FINISHED WOOD FLOORS DANGER OF FIRE! A hard wax oil-finished floor should be regularly maintained. After thorough cleaning, supplement the base finish with another coat of hard wax oil that cleans and adds a new layer of protection to the floor. The frequency of maintenance varies considerably depending upon the use of the room. Various suppliers of hard wax oil offer different solutions for cleaning and maintenance oiling. In public spaces, combined sweeper/ scrubber/drier machines are often used to advantage with re-oiling wood floor soap. 2. If necessary, switch the soap solution for a cleaning product recommended by the supplier of the surface finishing system. Organic materials such as cloths, paper polishing pads, etc. that have been in contact with floor oil based on linseed oil must always be placed in water immediately after use to prevent spontaneous combustion. SPOT REMOVAL Remove spots before they have dried into the floor. If necessary, wipe the area afterwards with clean water. Use a slightly damp cloth. Excess water, strong alkaline cleaning products and strong solvents damage wood floors. Almedals Trägolvsaktiebolag | Tel: +46 31-15 00 66 | [email protected] | www.almedalsgolv.com
