Adjust X-Crack to desired angle and use drywall
screws to fasten it to ceiling framing members.
Install drywall over X-Crack using fine or coarse
threaded screws – be sure screws only penetrate
drywall and X-Crack but missing trusses or ceiling joists by 2 to 4 inches. You must install the
last screws in the field 8 to 12 inches away from
X-Crack to allow for lumber movement. By missing the framing members and fastening only to
X-Crack; finished inside corners will not move
or crack. Use Strait-Flex Mid-Flex or Wide-Flex
tape to complete installation. NO SCREW

Directions for Use
1 Adjust X-Crack to angle of ceiling.
Vinyl hinge faces framing members.
2 Using drywall screws, first fasten
X-Crack at end of lengths. Align
center and fasten to framing members. Overlap X-Crack approximately one inch at joints.
3 Let X-Crack float over irregular
framing members to create a
straight line. Ten screws per length is
all that is required to hold X-Crack
in place. The last screws in the field
secures drywall to ceiling - and the
screws through drywall into body
of X-Crack secures inside corners.
■ Provides straight continuous backing
for fastening in tray ceilings, tee-pee
ceilings and butterfly vaults.
■ The combination of time saved by
drywall finisher, perfectly straight
vaults, and life-time guarantee, pays

4 Install drywall over X-Crack with

Strait-Flex Limited Warranty
STRAIT-FLEX INTERNATIONAL, INC. gives the following
comprehensive warranties of Strait-Flex products when
installed properly per Strait-Flex’s specifications in a
sound structure on a permanent foundation.
Tapes and Trims
EDGE CRACKS AND FLANGE DEFORMATIONS
Up to $1,000 per 1000 square foot of floor space per structure. For example, a 2,500 square foot house will have a
$2,500 guarantee against edge cracks or flange deformations. STRAIT-FLEX products will not edge crack and
deform along the flange. Edge cracks are defined as a
cracks in the joint compound that covers the drywall corner
along the two long edges of the drywall corner. Flange
deformations are defined as corner beads popping and
forcing the dried joint compound out but not cracking it
caused from a PVC flange in a paper faced composite tape.
Strait-Flex products withstands reasonable forces that
cause edge cracking and flange deformation: shrinking
lumber and settling structures are the most common.
Warranty does not apply to impacts.
Tools
Strait-Flex warrants its tools against defects in material and
workmanship for a period of three years from the date of
purchase. Strait-Flex International, Inc. will replace with a
comparable or superior unit, providing it is returned to
Strait-Flex with proof of purchase and transportation
charges prepaid.

FOREVER GUARANTEE
Strait-Flex International, Inc. warrants its Strait-Flex X-Crack
against ceiling cracks for the lifetime of the structure up to
$1,000 per 1000 square foot of floor space per structure.
X-Crack guarantees no cracks in ceiling applications when
X-Crack is installed in conjuncture with Mid-Flex and Wide-Flex.
General Provisions
EXCEPTIONS TO WARRANTY
1. All Strait-Flex products must be installed in strict accordance with the Strait-Flex’s manufacturer’s specifications.
2. Edge cracks and flange deformations (product failure) caused
by impacts are excluded.
3. Product failure caused by water damage are excluded.
4. Structure must be built according to applicable building
codes.
5. Structure must be built in a sound structure on a permanent foundation.
6. Product failure caused by acts of God, and severe forces
of nature; tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, are excluded.
7. Warranty applies for a period of three years after actual
completion of all work.
8. Blisters along paper flange are caused by improper
installation are excluded.
The above warranties apply to structures that have normal
settlement after construction but not to abnormal structural shifting of a building caused by acts of God; tornadoes,
floods, hurricanes or other abnormal structural shifting or
damage. Claims under this Strait-Flex comprehensive warranty must be made in writing Strait-Flex International,
Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, punitive, special or exemplary losses or damages.

As a carpenter and professional homebuilder for 25 years, Strait-Flex
founder John S. Conboy knew the problems surrounding the drywall
phase of the home building industry. He identified quality concerns
regarding the taping of off-angles, inside corners, and bay windows
which were so often compromised during this phase of construction.
John set out to design a product that would ease installation, resolve
the problems of edge cracking, and assist in maintaining strait alignments of intricate off angles.
In 1995, he obtained the patent for the development of Strait-Flex drywall tape and began manufacturing and distributing it in the St. Louis
area. The product was introduced at national conventions were it was
displayed and demonstrated to building professionals. The Strait-Flex
product line has been well received by contractors for its high quality finish and its ease of use and is sold by construction material
suppliers globally.
Through the years, he visited many drywall professionals at jobsites
around the country where they identified other construction problems
and provided innovative solutions that increase production rates and
improve quality. This has lead to product solutions such as X-Crack
which eliminates ceiling cracks, stick cornerbeads that require no fasteners, Mud-Pro compound applicators that require no daily clean-up,
and durable patches that quickly correct miss-cut and damaged drywall.
