both well in their future endeavors!

classroom will be open for students of any ability to
play the ukulele on their own.
Students can:

DNA for Genealogists
Chinese Culture Club
Please join the Davis Genealogy Club Tuesday,
June 21, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. when Jim Baker, Ph.D.,
CG, returns with a follow up to last month’s
program. If you are interested in genetic
genealogy and enjoy logic puzzles, then this
program, Smashing Brick
Walls with Autosomal DNA
Results, is for you! Baker
will offer a “how-to”
approach to using DNA
results to solve genealogy puzzles regarding
ancestors in the 5th and 6th generations. Case
studies illustrate the strategic and effective
merging of results from FTDNA, Ancestry DNA, and
GED match with the genealogical paper trail. Let's
pull out those DNA test results and start solving
problems with them.
The Chinese Culture Club meets
Friday, June 10 & 24, 1:00 - 3:00
p.m. The group explores Chinese
culture through educational
videos with English subtitles, and practice traditional
Chinese exercises and games. Everyone is welcome.
Our library, staffed by volunteers, remains open to
the public every Wednesday and Friday,
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. To learn more about the Davis
Genealogy Club and Library, visit our website

Benicia - A Town of History and
Beauty
Thursday, June 9
An overlooked haven for history and art, Benicia is
located on the Carquinez Strait and was a popular
ferry stop and steamer port for travelers and
supplies moving between San Francisco and
Sacramento during Gold Rush times. It was
California's State Capitol in 1853-54 and the old
capitol's interior pillars were carved from masts of
ships abandoned in San Francisco during the Gold
Rush. Included will be a docent-led tour of the old
capitol, lunch at Sailor Jack's, an old hotel located
on the water's edge, which was frequented by
Jack London during his time in Benicia. After lunch
stroll the picturesque shops or the palm-lined
waterfront. Be sure to sit on the "Benicia Bench"
created by UC Davis' artist Robert Arneson. Sailor
Jack's has 14 steps with hand railing. Please dress
in layers. $ 97

Thursday, August 11
A smash hit on Broadway, this new song-anddance spectacular features the music of George
and Ira Gershwin in a sparkling, spirited, highstepping musical comedy. A cast of bootleggers,
chorus girls, playboys and politicians creates
hilarity in the rip-roaring 20s
with songs such as Let's Call the
Whole Thing Off, I've got a
Crush on You and Someone to
Watch Over Me. Lunch before
the show at The Old Spaghetti Factory. $125

The Lion King
Wednesday, November 9

Since opening on Broadway 1997, The Lion King has
become the most successful musical in history. Still
playing eight times weekly in Times Square, it is called
the most exciting, inventive and moving theatre ever
to come to Broadway. Six indigenous African languages
are spoken in the musical which features the awardwinning lyrics Can You Feel the Love Tonight written by
Elton John. The costumes and dancing are
unbelievable. Lunch at Fog Harbor Fish House. $155
