The building opens to exhibitors at 6:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm each day, unless club activities are ongoing. The building is locked at 10:00 pm so please remember to remove your dogs and essential belongings before the building is locked. Arrangements to leave dogs overnight must be made before the show closing date of May 18, 2016 in advance and the exhibitor is responsible for the additional cost. If you need to leave your dogs unattended after the show and before the building is locked, contact the Show Chair at for help in making arrangements SCOA THANKS PURINA FOR THEIR SUPPORT 2 • Saluki Club of America 2016 National Specialty SCHEDULE TUES. • ASFA Lure Coursing tentatively begins at 8:30 am at Purina Coursing Field June 7 • Vendors may begin setting up at 12:00 noon in their spots. • Exhibitor Set-up begins at 12:00. Reserved spaces will have names on them, other set up space is available for the duration of the show on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see set-up and ringside rules. NO X-Pens will be allowed except in the set-up area and all crates must be either in the set up area or the designated day crating area and must have a towel or mat under each crate. Dogs may be at ringside on leash with appropriate size mat or bed • Futurity will begin at approximately 1:00 pm in the designated ring with Obedience and Rally in separate rings • Versatility Conformation will follow Obedience and Rally • Building closes at 6:00 or at completion of judging so Purina can reconfigure rings. • Reserved RV Parking continues until complete - see Show Chair WED. • AKC Lure Coursing Trial Early (tentatively 6:30 am) See Judging Program for Actual Times June 8 • Checkerboard Café will be open at 7:00 am serving breakfast and lunch (every day) • Announcements are made before classes begin each day • Agility will begin in the Great Hall at approximately 9:00 am. To qualify, your Saluki needs two of ANY AKC titles, in Conformation, Companion, Performance, or just being an awesome Saluki (CGC, Therapy, etc) The judge will not ask titles in the ring. Judging will be held following the Sweepstakes classes. Entries in the Dual Title Sweepstakes need not be entered in any other class at this show. Turn north on Hwy 100 E. Go approximately ½ mile to “MM” & turn left. There are small Purina signs on the corner. “MM” is a very winding road. Large vehicles use care. Entrance to the Farm is about 1 mile on the left. There are large security gates. 4 • Saluki Club of America 2016 National Specialty ACCOMMODATIONS PLEASE NOTE - The American Kennel Club and the Saluki Club of America are serious about the need to preserve pet friendly hotels and areas for the future. People who abuse their pet privileges at these hotels are subject to discipline by SCOA and AKC. If you are reported by a hotel for abusing your pet privileges there will be a bench hearing and resultant discipline if the hearing results in a determination that you acted in a manner not in the best interests of the Sport. The Host Hotel has a specified exercise area and SCOA provides bags for disposal of pet waste. GROOMING /SET-UP RESERVATIONS – Spaces are 5 x 10 and the area is covered with heavy plastic to minimize damage to the special flooring. Your $30 advance reservation holds your space until you arrive – on Tuesday afternoon thru Saturday afternoon. You will have a place to keep your dogs and your things in air-conditioned comfort. Free spaces will be available but on a first-come first-served basis. You may reserve up to two (2) spaces in advance but only one free space. Exceptions are for the Vendor Area and for designated day-crating area but all enclosures must have protection for the floor. We ask that all exhibitors strive to keep their dogs as quiet as possible. • Parking is allowed on blacktop surfaces only. NO PARKING ON THE GRASS AREAS. • Vending is not allowed outside of the vending area, in vehicles, personal tents or setups. Anyone vending will be required to pay the official vending fee. As a General Rule, Purina does not allow vending of any product that competes with Purina products. • Please turn off cell phones and/or pagers before entering rings. Show Chairperson, Obedience & Rally Chairperson and Assistant Show Chairpersons have the right to limit cell phone usage within 20 feet of the rings. • Show Site is Handicapped Accessible and there is parking in the front of the building. • ALL EXHIBITORS ARE WELCOME TO PHOTOGRAPH THE NATIONAL. HOWEVER IF YOU PLAN TO SELL THE PHOTOGRAPHS, PLEASE SEE PATSY HOY OR MONICA STONER TO PAY A VENDOR FEE. • Exhibitors should follow their Veterinarian’s recommendation to ensure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, free of any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations. • At the discretion of the judge or show committee in the case of inclement and/or dangerous weather conditions, judging may be moved into other suitable cover for the safety of the dogs, exhibitors and other participants. This also applies to dangerous night-time weather when occupants of RV may be asked to move indoors for their own safety. • CONSULT JUDGING PROGRAM FOR TIME OF JUDGING. • DOGS MAY ARRIVE any time prior to their scheduled time of judging. DOGS NOT REQUIRED for further judging will be excused. • JUDGES DO NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANY DOG HOLDING UP A CLASS. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging ring when their classes are called. • The show-giving club, Show Secretary and the Superintendent have no obligation or responsibility for providing service through a public address system or stewards or runners for the purpose of calling or locating dogs that are not brought into the ring when required. • THE SHOW COMMITTEE/SECRETARY will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors, but will not be responsible for, nor assume any liability in the event of an accident or misfortune to either dogs or exhibitors participating in this show as well as family, guests, and visitors in attendance. • CANINE COURTESY: All dogs shall be kept under control at all times. You are responsible for picking up after the animals in your care. You may want to consider crate or X-Pen covers for the comfort of your dog. The building can be quite noisy. • PLEASE EXERCISE DOGS IN DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY There will be exercise areas and containers placed around the grounds. PLEASE USE THEM. All regulations will be enforced. • NO GASOLINE OR DIESEL GENERATORS are permitted within 50 feet of any building in which this dog show is being conducted unless put there for the sole purpose of club use. • The club reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. • Show Ring and/or Obedience/Rally Ring cannot be used for practice. Agility ring is off-limits to anyone not participating in a scheduled Agility activity. • Disruptive or unruly behavior by individuals or dogs on the show site will not be tolerated at any time. The AKC policies regarding dog aggression will be enforced. • Only the Official Show photographer is authorized to photograph win photos. PLEASE!! PLEASE!! HELP US KEEP THE MOTELS AND SHOW GROUNDS CLEAN. CONFORMATION: Dogs may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety competition, provided this transfer is presented to the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP: Junior Handlers who win a third Novice Class with competition present after the closing of entries for a show may transfer their entry from the Novice Class to the Open Class provided that this transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one-half hour prior to the scheduled start of Junior Showmanship judging at the show. Correction may be made from one age division to another. provided this transfer must be made to the Superintendent at least one half-hour prior to the judging of any Junior Showmanship class at the show. OBEDIENCE OR RALLY: A dog who has earned a title after entries have closed may be moved to another class in a future trial, provided the transfer request is presented to the Superintendent in writing at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each trial. Move-ups may be approved provided the class and judge are available and the class has not reached its limit. 10 • Saluki Club of America 2016 National Specialty GROOMING / SET UP RESERVATIONS ARE CLOSED • Grooming or set-up spaces will be allowed in designated areas only due to the special flooring in the Hall • Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. Failure to keep a rented grooming space neat and in order could result in forfeiture of the rented space without refund. The Show Committee will monitor grooming space order and cleanliness. A dog washing area is provided in the facility, and also in the Service Center. • 10 – 20 amps of electrical service will be available to each grooming space. • Equipment must not be capable of damaging the flooring material in the Great Hall. Thick plastic will be in place in the set-up/grooming area. • The club/show committee reserves the right to limit and/or rearrange set-ups if crowded conditions become a problem. The Show Committee reserves the right to remove equipment or crates left in undesignated areas. • Your reserved grooming space will be determined by the Show Committee. The space will be clearly marked with your name and the space location will be posted at the entrance to the Event Center. • Free spaces will be available after 1:00 pm on Tuesday, June 7th. Only one (1) space per exhibitor – you may NOT save a free space for anyone else. • Once a space has been assigned, you may keep it until the end of the show or until you no longer need the space. The fee for parking is $30.00 per night. Reservations must be made on the form provided here. Additional parking spaces are available in the overflow RV lot located on the gravel lots above the outdoor show site. There is no fee for the overflow lot. All RVs will be required to show a permit to park issued by the SCOA for the above dates. Anyone not displaying a required permit will be removed from the show site. THERE WILL BE NO RV PARKING ON ANY BLACKTOP PARKING LOTS. The Mississippi Valley/Rhineland KC Parking Committee will be in charge of all parking for the 4 all breed shows Thursday, June 2,, 2016 thru Monday, June 6, 2016 at 6:00 PM.
