2012 Entry Check List
(please read carefully)
Teacher’s responsibilities
Mail to us FLAT – not rolled!
1) Use transparent tape to attach a completed student entry form
to the back of the student’s artwork. Artwork will be disqualified
if the completed entry form is not attached. 2) Ensure the student
gives proper “credit” to the artist that inspired the student. The
contest entry form has space to write in the artist’s name and
publication. Artwork must not be a copy of another artist’s work.
3) EACH entry must be the work of one student only. 4) One entry
per student.
Created with oil pastels?
The majority of the piece must be done in oil pastels. We
recommend Cray-Pas®— the original oil pastel with an extensive
range of color options. Using Cray-Pas supports the corporate
funding for this contest and many other educational programs.
Artwork requirements?
Required size: NO LARGER than 12” X 18” and NO SMALLER
than 8”X 10”
Multiple Entries: One age category per envelope—
K-2, 3-5, or 6-8 grade. Label each envelope with the age
category, and the number of entries inside. You may send
all entries in one package.
3rd Place 6-8
Nature Hands
by Seo Kim
Teacher: Jane Kim
Da Vinci Art Studio
Irvine, CA
Artwork must be mailed flat. Rolled artwork sent to us will
not be judged. Send all entries FLAT.
Attach entry form with tape
TEACHERS please complete the entry forms. The student’s parent/
guardian and art teacher must both sign the entry form. Only
use transparent tape to attach one entry form to the back of
the artwork, (no staples or paper clips). Teachers/parents are
responsible for placing the correct student’s entry form on the
back of the entry. If any of the above conditions are not met, or
the writing on the form is illegible, the artwork will be disqualified.
Please write clearly as all prizes will be printed with the information
on the entry form.
Original artwork vs color copies?
Teachers may submit quality color copies that truly represent the
colors in the artwork. Finalists are selected from original
artwork. When the original is requested, overnight or second-day
shipping is required; otherwise the piece may be disqualified.

different strokes
By holding Cray-Pas like a pencil, you will
be able to create a thinner line by using the
sharp edge of the Cray-Pas. If you use the flat
edge of the stick, you get a thicker line.
stippling
By laying patterns of dots on the surface
of the paper you can create an impression
of form. Viewed from a distance, the
colors will appear to mix.
lifting
By using a cotton ball, either wet or
dry, lift off colors for highlights for
a greater sense of three-dimension.
