Paso Robles in 2001. Firestone
Walker’s brew staff is a four-time

the brewery’s oak barrel brewing

ATASCADERO COMMUNITY GARDEN
Now is the time
to get your garden plot ready
for Spring planting! The Paloma
Community Garden is located behind the Methodist Church south
of Atascadero at
11605 El Camino Real. This garden is supported by the Methodist
Church and is open for anyone to rent a bed to grow any
pesticide-free fruits, flowers, and vegetables. To visit the
restful garden & enjoy this work-in-progress, drive in
past the church and towards the soccer fields – you’ll
see the garden nearby. For more information, call the

NORTH COUNTY
MULTIFLORA GARDEN CLUB
Meets at the Paso Robles Community Church, 2706
Spring Street, at 1 pm on the second Wednesday of the
month. (May meeting will be at a different location with
a luncheon and installation of officers.) There are no
meetings during the months of June, July and August.
New members and visitors are always welcome. Garden Club activities include tree planting on Arbor Day,
maintaining the rose garden at PR Centennial Park, gardening work at the Colony House in Atascadero, garden
and nursery visits, speakers at the monthly meetings,
herb and spice groups, plant exchanges, and many more

Line dancing is a choreographed sequence of steps performed in unison by several dancers all facing the same direction in parallel lines. Studies have shown Line Dancing

a senior, brings years of experience as a Certified Yoga Instructor
and extensive training in fitness and flexibility. She has created a unique class for seniors and the physically challenged.
Basing her class on the student’s need, always adaptable, in a
friendly, warm and supportive environment. Work at your
own pace and capabilities; all levels welcome. Please wear
comfortable, loose clothing and bring your own mat, towel
and water to class. This class is a great way to embark on

No Partner Needed! Join the resurgence of Ballroom Dance.
Discover the self-confidence, physical benefits, and just plain
fun dancing can provide. Session I focuses on the basics of
Swing & Fox Trot. Session II introduces Waltz while continuing more steps in Swing and Fox Trot. Session III takes on a
Latin theme with instruction in Rumba, Cha-Cha, Mambo,
and Salsa! All sessions include beginning, intermediate, and
advanced instruction to accommodate the varying abilities of
the class. Students may enroll in all three or choose sessions

Multiflora garden club cont’d: turned a yellow lawn
to public gardens at Pierce College in Woodland
Hills. Mr. Rikel taught Human Physiology and was
department chair for more than 30 years. His wife
is a biologist and taught Biology Majors in the Life
Sciences Department. She also studied Landscape
Design. Meeting will be held at the Paso Robles

MEMOIRS WRITING GROUP meets the 2nd

RIDE-ALONG PROGRAM
The Atascadero Police Department offers citizens
the opportunity to ride along with a patrol officer in
order to learn more about how they serve our community. Ride-alongs are allowed on a case-by-case
basis, depending on the availability and scheduling

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of Atascadero’s Main Fire Station
#1 to find out! In addition to the tour, we will attend a presentation
on Home Fire Safety and Fire Prevention, and a demonstration will
be made on the proper way to use a fire extinguisher.

CHUMASH CASINO SHUTTLE
Chumash Casino Resort in Santa Ynez offers a weekly shuttle
to its casino for a $20 per person fee, and you will receive $20
slot ‘free play” when you arrive at the casino. On Thursdays,
the shuttle will pick you up at 8:45 am at the Target shopping
center in Paso Robles, and the pick up time for Atascadero is
9:00 am at K-Mart. The return shuttle leaves the casino at 5

The North County Humane Society (NCHS) is now
waiving the adoption fee for seniors 62 & older who
adopt a senior cat (8 years & older) with our free “Seniors for Seniors” program. Find your free, perfect feline companion at the NCHS! We also have over 60
kittens up for adoption. Adoption fee is $100, which
includes a FIV/FELV test; treatments for ear mites, fleas
& worms; vaccinations at 8 & 12 weeks; cost for spay/
neuter; and microchipped! Due to superstitions that
are in some people’s heads, we are overflowing with
black kittens. So change their luck by adopting a wonderful black cat or kitten & let them into your heart!
We currently have too many cats & kittens at the shelter
and too little funds, so any donation would be greatly
appreciated. Stop by the shelter, or mail your donations

Our Pet Bereavement Support Group offers a free support group the last Thursday of every month from 6:30
– 7:30 pm. This group is open to all family members
& is led by a Bereavement Counselor. The group is intended to help those who have lost a pet to transition
from grief, emotional pain, & sadness, to appreciation

with Home Care Pulse's "2014 Best of Home Care" distinction. This is the
second year in a row that Senior Helpers has been
recognized as one of the best. Awarded to the top 50% of
agencies in client and employee satisfaction scores from
Home Care Pulse, Senior Helpers of the Central Coast is
now ranked among a select few of the best agencies in
the United States.
