(L3)
• To describe the locations of the world’s
tropical rainforests (L4).

British climate (L6).
• To infer why the British climate is different
to the equatorial climate (L7)
Literacy Objective: to use P.E.E to compare the
equatorial climate to the British climate.

Homework
• Due in: Tuesday 19th January
Research and present neatly information
on the desert climate:
• Where are deserts located?
• What is the climate like?
• Why are deserts so hot and dry?
• Include a picture
Your work will be formally assessed after this
lesson.
What level would you give this
piece of work?
Temperatures in the equatorial climate are higher than
those in the British climate. The highest temperature
in the equatorial climate is 29°C and the lowest
temperature is 27°C whereas the highest temperature
in the British climate is 17°C and the lowest
temperature is 4°C. Therefore, the range of
temperature in the British climate is greater than that
in the equatorial climate. This is because Britain has
seasons and the rainforest does not. As a result, it is
hot all year round. The reason why the equatorial
climate is hotter than the British climate is because of
the equator. Tropical rainforests are located around
the equator where the sun heats up a small area of land
making it very hot. On the other hand, Britain is
further away from the equator and the sun heats up a
larger area making it colder.
What level would you give this
piece of work?
Temperatures in the equatorial climate are higher
than those in the British climate. The highest
temperature in the equatorial climate is 29°C and
the lowest temperature is 27°C whereas the
highest temperature in the British climate is 17°C
and the lowest temperature is 4°C. The difference
in temperature in the equatorial climate is 2°C. The
reason why the equatorial climate is hotter than
the British climate is because of the equator.
Tropical rainforests are located around the equator
where the sun heats up a small area of land making
it very hot. On the other hand, Britain is further
away from the equator and the sun heats up a
larger area making it colder.
