From Russia with love: Despite a little competition
from certain royal nuptials (what’s 2 billion viewers,
really?), the award-winning Daffodil Ball, benefiting
the Canadian Cancer Society, recently pulled off its best
edition to date – a Russian-romance-themed spectacular
inspired by the beauty and splendour of Anna Karenina
and Dr. Zhivago.
“Love was in the air on this side of the ocean, too!” declared event architect/producer Alison Silcoff.
Thankfully, guest overlap was at a minimum (though
dear Kate and William were missed), and 700 of Montreal’s most powerful cultural, political and business
shakers heeded the invitational cue for black-tie with
a pop of scarlet before making the grandest of entrances into a fairy tale Russia at apropos Windsor Station. (Kudos to event designers Decor & More who did
opulent-irresistible really well). Topping the A-list:
