teaching and/or research purposes
In return, the educational institutions are requested :
■
to incorporate Leica Geosystems products and technologies into their mainstream academic
curriculum and research activities
■
to encourage and cultivate academic and scientific research using Leica Geosystems
technology applications, organizing and/or participating in conferences, seminars and
workshops, and demonstrating their competence by regularly publishing papers and articles to
peer-review journals
■
to compensate Leica Geosystems for the predefined product packages according to the
conditions of this special “Leica Geosystems Educational Program”.
2. EQUIPMENT OFFERED
The predefined packages covers the latest technology from Leica Geosystems for construction related
measurements and surveying & data acquisition in the field of Construction, Land Scaping and
Surveying & Mapping Applications.
For Educational Institutes from the Construction Segment the different packages offers complete sets
starting with optical levels, digital level, rotation laser, digging control system, pipe laser, underground
service locator and finally theodolites and construction oriented total stations.
For Educational Institutes from the Surveying & Engineering Segment the different packages offers
complete packages starting with manual total stations, robotic one man total station, brand new
including imaging functionality and finally the most precise TS30 Total Station.
In addition we offer unique integration of GNSS technology into TPS workflow via Smart Station or
Smart Pole concept.
For GNSS applications various packages from L1 GNSS up to the Viva GS15 SmartRover are offered.
The program is completed by predefined packages for different Monitoring Applications (using TPS,
GNSS, Inclination sensors technology) including related software for data processing, data analyze and
visualization and finally predefined packages to set up individual Reference Stations, to provide

2. GENERAL RULES
Communications:
Leica Geosystems will nominate a contact person to liaise with the University / Educational Institute ,
with the objective to maximise the benefits in the interest of both organizations.
Software Maintenance:
All predefined packages are covered by an SW maintenance contract valid for one year , including free
of charge upgrades for the on board and office software.
Usage:
The use of the hardware and software under the “Leica Geosystems Educational Program” is
exclusively for teaching and research purposes – hence, only for activities that do not generate revenue.
Continuation of “Leica Geosystems Educational Program” :
The continuation of the “Leica Geosystems Educational Program” program, including the renewal of the
software licenses and annual maintenance, will be based on the evaluation of Leica Geosystems.
Termination
In case of non-compliance with the “General Terms & Conditions”, Leica Geosystems will terminate this
agreement and request the outstanding differential balance, in accordance with Leica Geosystems
official list prices.

ATHENA Program 2013
ATHENA stands for ‘Advanced Technology for Higher-Education and Non-profit Associations’ and has
the clear objective of introducing the latest GNSS and Monitoring technology to the academic and
research communities. The foundation of the ATHENA Program is a new set of Leica GNSS Networks
& Reference Station (NRS) and Structural Monitoring (SM) product bundles specifically designed and
priced to benefit universities, UNAVCO-accredited members and research institutions.
GENERAL TERMS & CONDITIONS
Your organisation qualifies for this special promotion if it is one of the following:
■ an Academic organisation – University, polytechnic, higher education college
■ a Research institution
■ a current registered member of UNAVCO
■ an organisation specifically involved in non-profit activities.
Your organisation does not qualify for this offer if it is a commercial organisation that aims to use this
equipment (or any of its components) for the purposes of revenue-generating activities.
As part of the ATHENA Program, Leica Geosystems commits to:
■ provide a GNSS Reference Station and/or Structural Monitoring system to the University /
Research Organisation / UNAVCO member for academic teaching and research usage,
according to the ATHENA Program bundle purchased.
■ deliver basic training on the purchased products.
■ provide product literature, brochures, and other educational and marketing materials to assist
teaching and/or research purposes.
In turn, the University / Research Organisation / UNAVCO member commits to:
■ incorporate Leica GNSS Reference Station Network and/or Structural Monitoring technology
and applications into their mainstream academic curriculum / research activities.
■ encourage and cultivate academic / scientific research using Leica GNSS Reference Station
Network and/or Structural Monitoring technology and its applications, organizing and/or
participating in conferences, seminars and workshops, and demonstrating their competence by
regularly publishing papers and articles to peer-review journals.
■ compensate Leica Geosystems for the system according to the conditions of this special
ATHENA Program price proposal.
EQUIPMENT OFFERED
Leica Geosystems will provide you with specific details of the ATHENA Program hardware bundles.
The GNSS Reference Station Bundles are comprised of a GR25 or GR10 receiver, various firmware
options and an AR25 or AR20 or AR10 GNSS antenna. All bundles available also include basic
accessories (antenna radome, antenna cable, power supply and memory card), as well as a 1 year
CCP.
Structural Monitoring Bundles exist for the GMX901plus L1 smart antenna, the GMX902 GNSS or
GM10 receiver (with either the AR10 or AS10 GNSS antenna) and the Nivel210 inclination sensor.
Bundles are available that also include basic accessories.

GENERAL RULES
Communications:
Leica Geosystems will nominate a contact person to liaise with the University / Research Organisation /
UNAVCO member (i.e. professors, research scientists), with the express objective to ensure that this
Program is fully utilized affording maximum benefit to both organizations.
Warranty & Maintenance:
Standard Leica warranty regulations apply. Customer Care Packages (CCPs) and extended warranties
can be purchased in addition to complement the ATHENA bundles.
Usage:
The use of the ATHENA hardware will be exclusively for teaching and research purposes – that is, all
those activities that will not generate revenue for the operating organisation.
Termination
Termination will be triggered when “General Terms & Conditions” are no longer complied with. In case
of non-compliance, Leica Geosystems will directly terminate this agreement and demand the
outstanding differential balance relative to official Leica Geosystems list prices.
Either party may terminate this agreement by giving 15 days advanced written notice to the other via the
designated correspondence channels.
Upon termination of this agreement, the ATHENA Products will remain as property of the University /
Research Organisation / UNAVCO member, and any outstanding or scheduled payments will be due as
stipulated.
