As the season winds down and our winter visitors head home, our summer survivors are gearing
up for a hot season of fun. We have tons of events scheduled throughout the summer to keep all
of you cool, fed and full of laughter.
Many of our residents stayed on just long enough to enjoy some of the many activities that were
held this last month. We continued to enjoy Happy Hours which were very well attended throughout the season. Even though these are technically done for the season we all know that we make
our own happy hours and will still enjoy coming together throughout the summer and enjoying
each others company.
Our first summer ice cream social was held to much success. Although the group was small we
had a great time making ice cream sundaes and afterwards we all headed up to the front of the
resort for an impromptu demolition party. Anyone who was brave enough was given the opportunity to don a hard hat and a pair of safety glasses and grab the sledgehammer to take a swing at
the old mailroom building. Watching everyone take part in this with such exuberance was very
exciting.
With a little cake and ice cream and some laughs we celebrated our Manager’s birthday. Richard
turned 65 this year and we thought we would help him celebrate in Sundance style. We think he
enjoyed the special treatment on his special day as he was all laughs and smiles. But then again,
he is always full of laughs and smiles!
We also had our first movie matinee which featured The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. Popcorn
and beverages were supplied along with some comfy chairs for viewing. Everyone who attended
had a relaxing afternoon, watched a fun movie and is looking forward to the next matinee. Cant’
wait!
Other than movie matinee’s, what do we have scheduled for our summer survivors? Just turn the
page and check out all the fun activities we have planned. There’s everything from potlucks and
ice cream socials to river floats and bowling. Don’t be shy this summer. Come out and enjoy all
your fellow survivors for some great times!
Want to keep up on the happenings of your resort?
There are two ways to make that happen. One way is to “Like” us on our Facebook page where we will be posting photos
of the continued Sports Complex construction as well as the upcoming construction of the new Ballroom. The other is to
stop by the Activities Office and leave your email address. We will be sending out bi-weekly updates along with photos
and will also send out a copy of the summer newsletter so you can stay in the loop.

Mallory Lewis & Lambchop
Mallory Lewis, (daughter of Shari Lewis) and Lamb Chop’s performance resonates with
audiences from toddlers to seniors, who grew up watching Shari Lewis and Lamb Chop on
TV. Mally’s high energy is extremely well received and the nostalgic performance is filled
with contemporary music, topical comedy and hilarious audience participation as well as
vintage footage of Shari and Lamb Chop. Mally and Lamb Chop’s performances never fail
to rekindle, in hundreds of thousands of adults, cherished memories of their previously forgotten childhood. Most of the adults can fondly and vividly recall their exact age when they
sat in front of their TVs watching and totally enjoying Shari and Lamb Chop entertain them,
and Mallory and Lamb Chop offer them the opportunity to share those happy memories
with their children and grand children.
Wednesday, January 6th, Sundance RV Resort, Shows 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm
Jay and the Americans
Very few bands have ever reached the musical heights of JAY AND THE
AMERICANS. From 1962-1971, this group charted an unprecedented “12” top
10 records. With three original band members, Sandy Yaguda (aka Deane)
founding member, Howie Kirschenbaum (aka Kane) original member, and
Marty Kupersmith (aka Sanders), original member, plus the addition of “Jay”
Reincke, the third Jay and probably the best yet, they have recreated the authentic sound of all of their great hits that everyone remembers. JAY AND THE
AMERICANS first record was “TONIGHT” (from the Broadway Musical
WEST SIDE STORY), and their breakout hit song was “SHE CRIED”. JAY
AND THE AMERICANS next chart hit was “ONLY IN AMERICA”, followed
by top ten hits “COME A LITTLE BIT CLOSER” and later “THIS MAGIC MOMENT”. JAY AND THE AMERICANS
pay tribute to the late ROY ORBISON with “CRYING”, and no other band in history has sold .more copies of the song
“SOME ENCHANTED EVENING” than JAY AND THE AMERICANS!!! NEIL DIAMOND ‘s first hit song released,
“SUNDAY AND ME”, was recorded by none other than JAY AND THE AMERICANS, who have toured with such legendary artists as ROY ORBISON, THE BEATLES, and THE ROLLING STONES. In 2002, JAY AND THE AMERICANS were inducted into the VOCAL GROUP HALL OF FAME, placing them among the greatest vocal groups in Rock
and Roll history.
Thursday, January 28th, Fortuna de Oro RV Resort, Shows 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm
Monroe Crossing
Named in honor of Bill Monroe, “The Father of Bluegrass Music,” Monroe
Crossing dazzles audiences with an electrifying blend of classic bluegrass,
bluegrass gospel, and heartfelt originals. Their airtight harmonies, razor
sharp arrangements, and on-stage rapport make them audience favorites
across the United States and Canada. Based in Minnesota, the group plays
an average of 125 shows a year at major venues and festivals, frequently for
non-bluegrass audiences — and people often comment that they’d never
really liked bluegrass music until they attended a Monroe Crossing concert!
Monroe Crossing is Mark Anderson on bass, David Robinson on banjo,
Lisa Fuglie on fiddle, Derek Johnson on guitar, and Matt Thompson on
mandolin. Although each member comes from a unique musical background, they combine their talents to entertain with a style that leaves audiences asking for more and wins new fans for
bluegrass music everywhere they go.
Thursday, February 25th, Fortuna de Oro RV Resort, Shows 4:00 pm and 7:30 pm
DavidTyson—Music and Comedy

dynamic entertainer! He packs a generous mix of
music and comedy into a fast moving, energetic show
that audiences thoroughly enjoy.
People love variety, and David puts as much as he can
into each show. He goes on stage to enjoy music and to
have fun, and very soon the audience is having fun too!

Elvis is back in the
building!
Michael Cullipher
Award Winning
Elvis Tribute Artist
Michael Cullipher knew early on that he wanted to be
an Elvis Tribute Artist. He was four years old when he
first discovered Elvis Presley. His parents took him to
the Ozark Mountain Hoedown in Eureka Springs, AR
and Michael got a taste of what could be when he saw
his very first tribute artist in the form of Mike Nichol’s
who is famous for his role of Tater “Chip” Patches in
Branson, MO. Looking back, Michael realizes that this
was the start of his lifelong dream. Michael remembers
it so vividly: “I was so amazed! I thought he was the
coolest thing I had ever seen!” It wasn’t very long
before Michael begun practicing all the moves and
trying to imitate the voice of Elvis. His desire became
so strong that he began to pray every day that he would
grow sideburns and sound like Elvis.
Michael’s dream became a reality at nineteen years
old. He entered and won the Elvis Extravaganza
contest in 2009. He was hooked and a career was born!

Stanwood W. Sparrow
Rock & Roll Comedy Show
The Stanwood W. Sparrow Show is
an extremely
funny show that features great old
time Rock & Roll music combined
with America’s favorite power nerd
Stanwood W. Sparrow!
The Show really gets their audience
involved with many audience participation routines. The music is
solid and the comedy is fantastic!
Thursday, January 7th, 7pm $12.00
Laughing Bird
Enjoy the entertaining
live performances as
well as the moving
recorded music of this
husband and wife duo.
Laughing Bird’s show
is a lively mix of
original contemporary
folk music with overtones of new country, bluegrass, and light acoustic
rock.
Original, refreshing, and entertaining is a good
description of Laughing Bird’s show, but their real
magic is the warm, genuine, and unpretentious energy
they project from the stage. That same uplifting energy
oozes from their recordings and they seem to be
dedicated to the idea behind their website. Indeed,
some music matters. Tupelo and Janey clearly love
what they do, and it shows!
