No guys/gals, that elephant wasn't a small one. That video was being taken through the side view mirror
which made him look that way, when he was in reality, quite huge and the tusks were about 2 meters long
The video was taken after we had reversed 3 times, and finally had to find a way to turn around in order to
vacate the area safely until we knew what he was going to do, or figured out where he was going. It ended up
that we were between him and a watering hole, which was his destination. LOL (phillip, one does not alight
a vehicle in Kruger Park, and wave one's arms to scare off an elephant, as there are very stealthy/clever
things that roar and will eat you, who's attention you don't want) LOL

#84432 Truth About Being An Introvert (That Mainly Introverts Will Understand)

Are You Enlightened or a Control Freak? What Your Airplane Seat Choice Says About You
Leah Ginsberg
Dec. 10, 2014
Are you an aisle or a window? (Thinkstock)
"Choosing your seat on an airplane is a big deal. People obsessively check SeatGuru.com before picking a
seat or even pay more for a certain position on the plane. Why? “It’s a rare opportunity to have some control
over your environment when traveling,” explains psychologist and University of Washington professor
Jonathan Bricker, Ph.D. “That’s very significant for the traveler.” Indeed – ask people whether they’re an
aisle or window person, and they don’t hesitate to answer. (In case you're wondering, based on Expedia.com
customers who indicated a seat preference, 55 percent prefer a window seat and 45 percent prefer an aisle
seat.) So Yahoo Travel researched, asked the experts, and picked the brains of frequent fliers to find out
what your seat choice says about you."
If you’re an aisle person:
You value freedom. “Choosing an aisle seat is an expression of freedom. You know you have the ability to get
up and walk around without having to ask anyone or climb over your seatmate,” says Bricker.
You’re an introvert. When stuck in a large group of people (as you are on plane – sometimes for hours)
introverts feel physically uncomfortable and tend to want to stay on the periphery and have an easy escape
route (even if it’s just in their heads), and they don’t like to be surrounded by people or objects on all sides.
The aisle seats checks those boxes more than any other.
You’re all business. No gazing out the window and daydreaming for you. Plus it’s usually much more
comfortable to sleep at the window, so you’ll likely be up working or reading a book. In fact, a recent
American Express Global Business Travel survey found that business travelers prefer aisle seats.
You like to be in the power position. You’re the first one to talk to the flight attendant when she asks what you
want to drink. You control your seatmates in a sense – middle and window people need to ask you to go the
bathroom – and you can set the tone for the interaction by either being nice or grumpy about it. You’re the
de facto dictator of the row.
You tend to be a bit claustrophobic. Sitting on the aisle is about as much open space as you get on board.
(Too bad you can’t sit on the wing.)

Korean university develops smart prosthetic skin that helps patients feel
BY Alejandro Alba
December 9, 2014
"Researchers at Seoul National University found a way to coat prosthetics with nerve stimulation sensors.
Patients will be able to sense pressure, heat and humidity."
"Prosthetics just got smarter. Researchers at Seoul National University developed smart prosthetic skin that
allows patients to regain their sense of touch.
The smart skin is made of stretchable silicon nanoribbons—ultra-thin, clear strips of graphene—with arrays
of pressure, temperature, humidity, strain and nerve stimulation sensors. The group of researchers published
a study that details their product and its performance.
"The prosthetic hand and laminated electronic skin could encounter many complex operations such as hand
shaking, keyboard tapping, ball grasping, holding a cup of hot/cold drink, touching dry/wet surfaces and
human to human contact," the study abstract reads."

#84501 Did an asteroid really, really kill the dinosaurs?

Did an asteroid really, really kill the dinosaurs?
Michael Champion
December 13, 2014
"Up until 1980, one of the prevailing theories about the causes of the mass-extinction event that saw the
dinosaurs wiped out 65million years ago was massive volcanic eruptions.
But then iridium, an incredibly rare element usually not originating from Earth, was found in Italy and by
the early 1990s a prehistoric impact crater - around 66million years old - was located underneath the
Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico.
Case closed; a massive asteroid hit Earth, blocked out the Sun and dinosaurs were among 75 per cent of the
planet’s species to die, and that has been by far the prevailing theory since then."
"However, a new study, published in Science, claims that the pre-1980 theory might have actually had
something to it.
Scientists at MIT in the US have re-examined the evidence contained at the Deccan Traps, an area of westcentral India that holds a record of one of the largest-ever volcanic eruptions on Earth."

#84502 asteroid dream, 28 Dec, sorry I don't usually post this but I'm nervous.

What an interesting post, considering the following was posted today by Marlowe. Please forgive me, no
attempt to hijack your thread. However you may find the dates mentioned at the bottom of the original post
of the thread, quite interesting to say the least.
http://forums.thecha...ay-hit-florida/
The National Dream Center Marlowe posted a link to, has several dreams about water, waves, or a tsunami,
which could be caused by an asteroid hit.
http://www.nationald...b/rss/latest/20
I also find it interesting that you mention a huge asteroid collides with a smaller one. Considering that the
Russians have found a huge one they are worried about, even though our guys say it's nothing to worry
about.
Phew! Giant Asteroid Not a Threat to Earth, NASA Says
Miriam Kramer
Dec. 9, 2014
"Claims that Russian scientists have discovered a huge asteroid that could threaten Earth in the near
future are just not correct, according to NASA.
Recent news reports from Russia have stated that a researcher discovered a 1,312-foot (400 meters) space
rock that could pose a danger to Earth. However, calculations from NASA and the Minor Planet Center in
Cambridge, Massachusetts, show that the asteroid 2014 UR116 does not pose a danger to Earth for at least
the next 150 years.
"Some recent press reports have suggested that an asteroid designated 2014 UR116, found on Oct. 27, 2014
at the MASTER-II observatory in Kislovodsk, Russia, represents an impact threat to the Earth," officials at
NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California said in a statement Monday (Dec.
. "While this
approximately 400-meter sized asteroid has a three-year orbital period around the sun and returns to the
Earth's neighborhood periodically, it does not represent a threat, because its orbital path does not pass
sufficiently close to the Earth's orbit."

December 16, 2014
"A siege is taking place at a cafe in Sydney's central business district. Police are advising people to steer
clear of the Lindt Chocolate Cafe in Martin Place. Customers and a workers face are pressed up against a
shop window inside the cafe. Martin Place has been shut down and scores of police are surrounding the
building after the alarm was raised about 9.45am AEDT.

"The Prime Minister has urged Australians to go about their business as usual. 'The ordinary business of
government must go on and it will go on,' he said, adding that the mid-year financial outlook would be
released today as planned. He described the scene as a 'disturbing incident' and said there were 'some
indications' it was politically motivated. US President Barack Obama has reportedly been briefed on the

Mulva : (14 December 2014 - 07:21 PM) I really don't know what to think about this.... The lack of

Or this really is a real deal and there was no preparation
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 07:22 PM) it follows some "major" arrests last night and yesterday afternoon

least 12 separate incidences going on atm.
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 09:23 PM) 3 hostages escaped
breezy : (14 December 2014 - 09:39 PM) This situation makes me think a couple things. You in Oz have
been more or less disarmed. Oz is a staunch ally of us. Who better to mmmmm, say, make a point with? NOT
a good indication, either that or even more sinister implications for the future. Sorry friends in Oz. Hope all
situations will be resolved in a good way.
Imelda : (14 December 2014 - 09:49 PM) Have we seen a full picture of the flag they put up in the café
window...looks similar to Isis but its clearly not.
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 09:49 PM) he demanded an isis flag apparently
Imelda : (14 December 2014 - 09:52 PM) That's a strange thing to do. Why didn't he just bring his own
landdownunder : (14 December 2014 - 09:58 PM) Hmmmm Imelda, he probably travels light.
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 09:59 PM) hard to come by here in oz
triton : (14 December 2014 - 09:59 PM) I think its all bollocks--false flag--to take more freedoms away and
scare the sheep--prolly something in their plans f#$%^d up and its been dragged out too long already
Imelda : (14 December 2014 - 09:59 PM) Perhaps there was no room in his backpack considering he might
have bombs and guns and WMD in there...I assume
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 09:59 PM) another 2 just escaped
Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 10:00 PM) triton lol yer i would agree but…we have very few "freedoms"

Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 10:04 PM) well you do not bring a gun to a bomb fight do you..
triton : (14 December 2014 - 10:06 PM) in a caf'e--its full of "weapons" according to the police--like

Onyx : (14 December 2014 - 10:18 PM) intended or not, it will surely be used to "tighten the screws

landdownunder : (14 December 2014 - 10:43 PM) Isn't that what they want?

"In the aftermath of the Sydney siege, I hope the outpouring of support for the Muslim community will

As I write this, NSW police have announced an end to the Sydney Siege. Two innocent people have died, as

Hawaii lava on course to hit gas station, stores
Dec. 15, 2014
By Audrey Mcavoy, AP
In this photo taken Dec. 12, 2014, and provided by the U.S. Geological Survey, the active lava flow front
continues to advance downslope towards the northeast about a mile and a half from the marketplace in
Pahoa, Hawaii. Officials say lava from Kilauea volcano is on course to reach a supermarket and shopping
center in the small town of Pahoa in seven to ten days. Hawaii County Civil Defense Director Darryl
Oliveira said Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, the lava is about one mile away from Malama Marketplace
supermarket. There’s a hardware store, pharmacy and gas station in the same shopping center. (AP

"HONOLULU (AP) -- Lava from a volcano on Hawaii's Big Island is on course to reach a shopping center
with a gas station and a supermarket in seven to 10 days, officials said Monday.
Lava is about 1 mile from the shopping center in the small town of Pahoa, said Hawaii County Civil Defense
Director Darryl Oliveira. The shopping center also contains a hardware store, pharmacy and auto repair
shop.
There's still a great deal of uncertainty about when the lava might reach the center and what it could hit.
The lava could smother one structure in the complex or cover them all, he said.
"It just depends on what the flow does as it comes through," he told reporters during a conference call.
Oliveira says the county has been in touch with the merchants about evacuation plans. The county hasn't yet
advised them to leave.
The supermarket, one of the biggest stores in the center, plans to start removing equipment on Tuesday and
shut down on Thursday. Malama Market said in a statement it was encouraging customers to keep shopping
until its doors close."

Russia Defends Ruble With Biggest Rate Rise Since 1998
By Olga Tanas and Anna Andrianova
Dec. 15, 2014
"Russia took its biggest step yet to shore up the ruble and defuse the currency crisis threatening its stricken
economy.
In a surprise announcement just before 1 a.m. in Moscow, the Russian central bank said it would raise its
key interest rate to 17 percent from 10.5 percent, effective today. The move was the largest single increase
since 1998, when Russian rates soared past 100 percent and the government defaulted on debt.
The news prompted an immediate gain in the ruble, with one-month ruble forwards up 1.6 percent in Asian
trading.
Yet the announcement, as well as its timing, underscored the financial straits in which Russia now finds
itself. If sustained, the new higher rates would squeeze an economy that is already being hurt by sanctions
led by the U.S. and European Union, and by a collapse in oil prices. Some analysts said they doubted the
economy could withstand such high rates for long.
“This move symbolizes the surrender of economic growth for the sake of preserving the financial system,”
said Ian Hague, founding partner at New York-based Firebird Management LLC, which oversees about $1.1
billion, including Russian stocks. “It’s the right move to make, and it wasn’t easy to make it.”
So far this year, Russia has spent $80 billion of its foreign-exchange reserves in an unsuccessful attempt to
prop up the ruble, which tumbled past 64 against the dollar for the first time yesterday. The currency’s
collapse has evoked the turmoil of the 1998 Russian crisis, an event that reverberated through financial
markets around the world."

"China held $1.25 trillion in U.S. debt as of October, a $13.6 billion drop from September, the Treasury
Department said in a monthly report today. The nation remains the largest foreign holder, ahead of Japan,
whose stockpile increased $0.6 billion to $1.22 trillion, reducing the gap between the two countries to the
narrowest since September 2012.
The yuan rose 0.4 percent against the dollar in October as the government moves toward a marketdetermined exchange rate, part of efforts to expand the currency’s use worldwide. The less China intervenes
to weaken its currency, the less it needs to buy securities such as Treasuries.
“The lack of growth in their Treasury portfolio has been happening throughout this year, so I tend to think
it’s more of a structural trend that’s developing,” said Stanley Sun, an interest-rates strategy analyst at
Nomura Securities International Inc. in New York. He said he expects “a grind lower rather than any sharp
decline” in holdings.
While the yuan has weakened 1.3 percent since October, it’s still the only one among 31 major global
currencies tracked by Bloomberg to strengthen against the dollar in the second half."

Identity theft victims face months of hassle
December 14, 2014
By BRANDON BAILEY AP
"SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — As soon as Mark Kim found out his personal information was compromised in
a data breach at Target last year, the 36-year-old tech worker signed up for the retailer's free credit
monitoring offer so he would be notified if someone used his identity to commit fraud.
Someone did. The first monitoring report showed crooks opened accounts in his name at Macy's and Kohl's
department stores, where they racked up more than $7,000 in charges. "My heart basically sank," he said.
Over the next seven months the New York City resident spent hours on the phone, most of a day in a police
station filing a report, and countless time sending documents to banks and credit reporting agencies to clear
his credit history
He's hardly alone. The Target hack during last year's Black Friday shopping weekend was just one in a wave of
data breaches that have exposed more than 100 million customer records at U.S. retailers, banks and Internet
companies. The latest high-profile hack, at Sony Pictures Entertainment, resulted in Social Security numbers
and other personal details of nearly 50,000 current and former Sony employees and film actors being stolen
and posted online for anyone to see. While cases are difficult to trace, analysts at Javelin Strategy & Research
estimate that one in three Americans affected by a data breach ultimately became the victim of fraud last year
— up from one in nine in 2010.
Although banks often absorb bogus charges, it's up to victims to clean up their credit histories and recover
stolen funds. On top of lost time, money and emotional energy, victims face the frustration of rarely seeing
anyone pay for the crimes. Identity theft cases are rarely prosecuted, said Avivah Litan, an analyst who studies
fraud and identity theft for the research firm Gartner. Local police have limited resources, and criminals are
often overseas, "so unless it's part of a bigger pattern, they're not going to spend much time pursuing it." Kim
said a police detective who took his complaint later told him the accounts were opened by someone in
California, but Kim never heard any more about the investigation.

Research underway into entirely robotic ships that can be controlled remotely by operators from a central
location
A prototype of the Unified Bridge system has recently entered service on the vessel Stril Luna, where it
coordinates the operation of on-board equipment ranging from engines to propulsion and cargo handling.
"Together with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Rolls-Royce today unveiled its latest
vision of Ship Intelligence - a futuristic ship's bridge concept which could become reality by 2025.
Rolls-Royce has worked together with VTT's researchers and Aalto University to develop the new
bridge, known as the Future Operator Experience Concept or 'oX'.
It offers the crew smart workstations, which automatically recognise individuals when they walk
into the bridge, and adjust to their own preferences.
The windows of the bridge serve as augmented reality displays of the vessel's surroundings,
including visualisation of potential hazards that would otherwise be invisible to the human eye.
The system can, for example, pinpoint sea ice or tug boats and other craft that may not be visible to
the crew, especially on large container ships.
A prototype of the Unified Bridge system has recently entered service on the vessel Stril Luna,
where it coordinates the operation of on-board equipment ranging from engines to propulsion and
cargo handling.
Stril Luna is a platform supply vessel designed to pierce through the waves under harsh weather
conditions, making it possible to keep a more constant speed, reducing the use of fuel and
increasing on board safety.
Mikael Makinen, Rolls-Royce, President - Marine, said: 'We are entering a truly exciting period in
the history of shipping, where technology, and in particular the smart use of Big Data is going to
drive the next generation of ships.
'Over the next ten to 20 years we believe Ship Intelligence is going to be the driving force that will
determine the future of our industry, the type of ships at sea, and the competence levels required
from tomorrow's seafarers."

Nasa finds (could have found) evidence of 'life on Mars': Curiosity rover picks up methane 'burps' that
could be coming from alien organisms
Dec. 16, 2014
Andrew Griffin
Mars Curiosity rover picks up 'burps' of methane — which could be evidence of life on the planet
"Evidence of life on Mars could have been found by Nasa's Curiosity Rover.
Mysterious spikes of methane that cannot easily be explained by geology or other theories have been found
by one of the instruments on the robot, which landed on the planet in 2012. Scientists can’t be sure what is
causing the spikes, but it is possible that it could be very small, bacteria-like living organisms.
If the gas is coming from living, breathing microbes then it would mark one of the biggest discoveries in
history. On Earth, 95% of methane comes from microbial organisms.
Scientists have said that the rover now has to test and re-test the possibility of life, ahead of a manned
mission in 2020 that would look for the source of the methane."
"Previous satellite observations have detected unusual plumes of methane on the planet, but none as
extraordinary as the sudden "venting" measured at Gale Crater, where evidence suggests water once flowed
billions of years ago.
The laboratory onboard the rover has been sniffing methane in the atmosphere a dozen times in the last 12
months. In late 2013 and early 2014, the amount of methane flared up, and then receded.
Other possible explanations include the Sun's rays degrading organic material that was left behind by
meteors, Nasa scientists said at the press conference announcing the news. But that explanation still relies
on the original material being deposited, they said."

I am going to throw a little info in here. The SARand was falling against the USD just before, and while I
was in SA. First day I went to the bank to exchange USD, there was no limit to how much you could
exchange. Three weeks later, went to exchange some USD again, only to find that I could only exchange a
much, much smaller amount at a time. Yes, you could go to the bank the next day and exchange up to the
limit again, but the fact that they had put a limit on the amount struck me. Seems to me that SA is one of the
BRICS bank nations, is it not? Shouldn't this be telling us something? To me, it felt like a big red flag, that
things are getting very serious, indeed! I agree, Salustra, in this "end game" it is we (US) who will be in the
back seat, while someone else does the driving. Playing chess with Putin, is not something I'd care to do.

Russia Crisis Hits Pimco Fund, Wipes Out Options
Dec. 16, 2014
By Vladimir Kuznetsov, Ksenia Galouchko and Ye Xie
"After the single worst day in Russia’s nine-month-old financial crisis, the fallout is spreading across global
markets.
Pacific Investment Management Co. (PEBIX) is facing mounting losses on its Russian bond holdings;
almost every bullish ruble option contract registered in the U.S. has been made worthless; and foreignexchange brokers in New York and London told clients they’re no longer taking ruble trades. Sergey
Shvetsov, a first deputy central bank governor, expressed astonishment at the scope of the collapse during a
conference in Moscow.
“We couldn’t imagine what’s happening in our worst nightmare even a year ago,” Shvetsov, who oversees
financial markets at Bank of Russia, said yesterday. He said the surprise interest-rate increase in the middle
of the night, a 6.5 percentage-point move that failed to stem the run on the ruble yesterday, was a choice
between a “very bad” option and a “very, very bad” option.
The ruble sank beyond 80 a dollar, a record low, as panic swept across Moscow’s financial markets before it
rebounded after Economy Minister Alexei Ulyukayev denied speculation the government would impose
restrictions to stop Russians from converting cash into dollars. The currency ended the day at 67.9, down 5.4
percent on the day, while bonds and stocks also tumbled, sending the RTS equity gauge down the most since
2008. One-month ruble forwards weakened 0.7 percent today."

The SDR Purpose of BRICS
Dec. 17, 2014
JC Collins
"Global markets are showing increasing signs of instability and there are serious concerns about risks to
international liquidity building across the spectrum. Exchange rate volatility is deepening with the Russian
ruble leading the way and the systemic contagion is spreading around the world, from European and
Western banks to stock market crashes in the Middle East.
Oil continues its descent into the $30 to $40 dollar range with a strategically timed announcement by OPEC
today, at the peak of the turmoil, stating it will not meet again until June, 2015, ensuring continued
instability and lack of confidence in the energy markets.
Trading between the ruble and USD has been halted almost at the same time as Russia’s alternative to the
SWIFT system came on line.
Since the beginning of the year we have rehearsed these moments in our minds, not sure if they would
happen as we had been discussing, and hoping that they wouldn’t, but knowing full well that the amount of
preparation and strategy which has gone into the transition of the international monetary system, from a
unipolar structure to a multilateral structure, would eventually materialize in the real world as the Hegelian
Dialectic machinations which we are witnessing now."

Russia Announces Decoupling Trade From Dollar
Peter Koenig
"China will re-open the old Silk Road as a new trading route linking Germany,
Russia and China"
"April 08, 2014 "ICH" - Russia has just dropped another bombshell,
announcing not only the de-coupling of its trade from the dollar, but also
that its hydrocarbon trade will in the future be carried out in rubles and
local currencies of its trading partners – no longer in dollars – see Voice of
Russia
Russia’s trade in hydrocarbons amounts to about a trillion dollars per year.
Other countries, especially the BRICS and BRCIS-associates (BRICSA) may
soon follow suit and join forces with Russia, abandoning the ‘petro-dollar’ as
trading unit for oil and gas. This could amount to tens of trillions in loss for
demand of petro-dollars per year (US GDP about 17 trillion dollars –
December 2013) – leaving an important dent in the US economy would be an
understatement."

Oceans May Hold 250,000 Tons of Trash
Dec. 13, 2014
By Tia Ghose, Staff Writer
"The world's oceans may contain about 10 times more plastic than the most recent studies suggest.
The new figure estimates that the oceans hold more than 250,000 tons of trash, a number vastly different
from a past estimate, which suggested the oceans' plastic is mysteriously disappearing.
Scientists arrived at the new number by combining visual estimates of trash volume with data collected from
trawling the oceans with nets, said study co-author Markus Eriksen, director of research for the 5 Gyres
Institute, an organization aiming to understand the plastic pollution in the ocean. [See Images of Garbage in
the Ocean]"
More than 15 years after first discovering it, Capt. Charles Moore returned to the great Pacific garbage
patch and found that semi-permanent "plastic islands" were forming, with mussels, oysters and other
creatures sheltering on the trashy land. Credit: Algalita
World of plastic
"The detritus of everyday life has been pouring into the oceans for decades. Everything from plastic bags to
water bottles have migrated from the coastlines, harbors and river mouths into the oceans, where gyres, or
the ocean's giant conveyor belts, carry them to the most remote stretches of the seas.
About 15 years ago, scientists discovered the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a trash-filled region of the Pacific
Ocean the size of Texas. A recent excursion even found that islands of trash were forming in the garbage
patch.
In the 1970s, studies suggested that about 45,000 tons of plastic littered the ocean, and the world's
production of plastic has increased fivefold since then. But scientists don't agree on just how much of the
world's plastic makes its way into the ocean, or how long it lasts before fish, sunlight and currents break it
down and carry it into the deep ocean. In dozens of expeditions, scientists have tried to estimate this number
by visual counts or by trawling the seas with nets.
But the first method is better at picking up large objects, such as buoys and fishing nets, whereas the second
method may be more reliable for tiny, broken down pieces of plastic that are floating in the water column."

Secret Chemtrail Pilot Speaks, on Dec 8, 2014
The HAARP Report
Published on Dec 14, 2014
This is a message I received, from a credible source. This message is (allegedly) from a USAF pilot, who flies
Aerosol Tankers, as part of the secret Indigo Skyfold (geoengineered aerosol "chemtrail") program.
Please save this text, and forward the video! (The text was too long for Youtube to put in the description, so I
will put the entire message in the comments section.)
I've known the source for six months, and I have POST confirmation of most of the things he's told me, IN
ADVANCE.
Also, IF THIS WAS DISINFO, the last message from the pilot would be "after Jan 20, they are shutting
down the program".
INSTEAD, he says the opposite: "a very new "extremely toxic" chemtrail mix, is going to be sprayed. Using
new technology, that makes these special chemtrails, completely invisible."
That is not how disinfo works. The last communication was the opportunity to calm the herd, instead, it is a
call to action.
If you have a geiger counter, with an alpha/beta probe, please test the aerosol fallout, now, and after
January 20, 2015. The best way to test the aerosols, is to wipe your car hood, and windshield, with a clean
paper towel, after a dry period of heavy spraying. Then, test the towel for alpha and beta radiation. This is
especially important in California, which has no natural radon sources upwind.
P.S. if anyone can do a better job of narration, please upload your own video! Don't let this disappear from
the internet!
The first comment has the complete pilot text, so please copy it, and spread the word.
Thanks!
Tx Landdownunder for finding this. Listen to this video, pretty interesting. Some points I hadn't thought about.

Largest Stone Block From Antiquity Found
From Dec. 1, 2014
by Rossella Lorenzi
"German archaeologists have discovered the largest stone ever carved by human hands, possibly dating to
more than 2,000 years ago.
Still partially buried, the monolith measures 19.6 meters (64 feet) in length, 6 meters (19.6 feet) wide, and is
at least 5.5 meters (18 feet) high. Its weight is estimated at a bulky 1,650 tons, making it biggest stone block
from antiquity.
It was found by a team from the German Archaeological Institute in a stone quarry at Baalbek in Lebanon.
Known as Heliopolis, “the city of the sun,” during the Roman rule, Baalbek housed one of the grandest
sanctuaries in the empire.
The limestone quarry was located about a quarter of a mile from the temple complex and houses other two
massive building blocks – one weighting about 1,240 tons, the other, known as the “Hajjar al-Hibla,” or The
Stone of the Pregnant Woman, about 1000 tons.
Right next to the fully exposed Hajjar al-Hibla stone and underneath it, the archaeologists found a third
block.
“The level of smoothness indicate the block was meant to be transported and used without being cut,” the
German Archaeological Institute said in a statement.
“Thus this is the biggest boulder known from antiquity,” it added.

Monsanto Tries to Overturn GMO Ban Despite 66% Majority Vote
Dec. 18, 2014

Interfering with Democracy AGAIN
"Jackson County, Oregon voted by an overwhelming majority of 66% to ban GMO crop cultivation
beginning June 6, 2015 via Measure 15-119. This date is fast approaching, and Monsanto thinks they are
above the law. The biotech giant is trying to use two Jackson County GMO farmers to overturn the ban.
As I reported back in November:
The newly approved measure mandates that people “cease harvest, and destroy or remove all genetically
engineered plants” no later than 12 months after the ordinance goes into effect. With Jackson
County’s measure 15-119 and nearby Josephine County’s measure 17-58, GMOs were voted out with a
nearly 2-1 ratio.
“The voters here [Jackson County] have many generations of fruit and vegetable growing, so they’re among
the most educated voters,” said Chuck Burr, president of the Southern Oregon Seed Growers Association.”
The opposition spent a million dollars and couldn’t convince the people. This vote is going to make Jackson
and Josephine county one of the most valuable seed-growing regions in the entire country, period,” he said.
“Regrettably ideology defeated sound science and common sense in Jackson County. We respect the voice of
the voters, but remain convinced Measure 15-119 is bad public policy. While this election is over, this debate
is not. We will continue to fight to protect the rights of all farmers to choose for themselves how they farm.”

IMF Now Ready To Slam The Door On The U.S. And The Dollar
Dec. 17, 2014
Tyler Durden
snip meant to post this one a couplee days ago.
"As I predicted last month in “We Have Just Witnessed The Last Gasp Of The Global Economy,” severe
volatility is now returning to global markets after the pre-game 10 percent drop in equities in October hinted at
what was to come.
We expected such destabilization after the wrap-up of the Fed taper, and the markets have not disappointed
so far. My position has always been that the taper of QE3 made very little sense in terms of maintaining the
manipulated illusion of economic health — unless, of course, the Federal Reserve was implementing the
taper in preparation for a renewed financial catastrophe. That is to say, the central bankers have established
the lie of American fiscal recovery and then separated themselves from blame for the implosion they KNOW
is coming. If the markets were to collapse while stimulus is officially active, the tragedy would be forever a
millstone on the necks of the banksters. And we can’t have that now, can we?
This is not to say that individual central banks and even currencies are not expendable in the grand scheme of
things. In fact, the long-term goal of globalists has been to consolidate all currency systems and central
banks under the outward control of the International Monetary Fund and the Bank Of International
Settlements, as I outlined in “The Economic Endgame Explained.”
That particular article was only a summary of a dangerous trend I have been concerned about for years;
namely the strategy by international financiers to create a dollar-collapse scenario that will be blamed on
prepositioned scapegoats. I have no idea what form these scapegoats will take - there are simply too many
possible triggers for fiscal calamity. What I do know, though, is the goal of the endgame: to remove the
dollar’s world reserve status and to pressure the American people into conforming or even begging for
centralized administration of our economy by the IMF.
The delusion perpetuated in the mainstream is that the IMF is a U.S.-dominated institution. I have outlined on
many occasions why this is false. The IMF like all central banks is dominated by the international corporate
banking cartel. Central banks are merely front organizations for globalists, and I am often reminded of the
following quote from elitist insider Carroll Quigley when I hear people suggest that central banks are
somehow independent from one another or that the Federal Reserve is itself the singular “source” of the
world’s economic ills:"

Russia Busts "Gold-Selling" Rumors, Reports It Bought Another 600,000 Ounces Taking Gold Holdings To New Record

"Yesterday, when we reported the latest rumor of Russian gold selling, this time out of SocGen, we said that "it

default risk higher in recent days. So if all it will take to stabilize the RUB sell off, reduce fears of Russian
contagion, and halt the selloff of SocGen stocks is a "source" reporting what may or may not be the case, so be
it."
Moments ago, as if to deter further speculation that Russia is indeed converting hard money earned from real
resources for fiat paper, the Russian monetary authority made it quite clear, that at least in November, Russia
not only did not sell any gold, but in fact bought another 600K ounces in the month of November."

#84929 EBOLA: A record

I figured it was time for me to post on this thread again. I recall that as I left for S. Africa, it was being said
that the 5 major Eastern international airports in the US, would be checking all flights coming from W.
Africa. So there may be some differences here that I'm not aware of, but my flight came into Dulles
International Airport from Senegal. IOW W.Africa. Now true that is not Sierra Leone, and the flight
originated in S.A., however, we did pick up passengers in Dakar, Senegal, and who knows where they may
have come from? NO questions asked, no temperatures taken, no checking of any sort took place, to my
knowledge. So it seems either I have a strange understanding of procedures, or, someone is bsing us.
Next point, read the book "Hot Zone". I absolutely do NOT believe that what we have in the US, is Ebola. I
have doubted for some time that it was Ebola, and have indicated that on this thread several times. Sure
there have been mutations, that's true, but I seriously doubt that anyone with true Ebola of any kind Is going
to miraculously recover within a week, and look as though they never were sick, when it's over. Where is Dr.
Scara? The Doc, that was taken to Nebraska, declared cured very soon after being taken there from a W.
African country after treating Ebola patients, then ended up in hospital in NYC, with some sort of
respiratory virus, supposedly? We have heard no more about him. He just seems to have disappeared.

In neighboring Guinea, a fire destroyed medicine crucial to fighting Ebola. The fire engulfed a warehouse at

Ebola response. He could not immediately say how much had been lost.
The world's largest Ebola outbreak has drawn a massive international response, and supplies, including

A total of 28 people infected with listeria have been reported from 10 states, according to a statement from the U.S.
Centers for Disease Control. Eleven of the cases are in the Midwest: five in Missouri, four in Minnesota and two in
Wisconsin.
The CDC warned consumers not to eat any pre-packaged, commercially-produced caramel apples, including those
with other toppings such as nuts, chocolate or sprinkles, until more information is available. A recall, however, has
not been issued as of Friday afternoon.
Of the 28 victims, 26 were hospitalized and five of those people died, the CDC said, adding that listeriosis contributed
to at least four of the deaths. Nine of the cases involved a pregnant woman or her newborn infant and three were
among otherwise healthy children aged 5 to 15 years, the CDC said. According to the studies, 83% of the ill people
interviewed reported eating commercially produced prepackaged caramel apples."

West Harlem Residents Are Fed Up With ‘Aggressive’ Raccoons Terrorizing Neighborhood
Dec. 18, 2014
"NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — West Harlem residents say a posse of raccoons has taken over their
neighborhoods and in some cases even broken into their homes.
“These things think they live here and they actually walk in if you leave an opening,” said resident Lauren
Flanigan.
Pictures from residents showed a raccoon making itself comfortable on the patio of a West Harlem home,
and even coming up to the door. And that raccoon was not alone, residents said.
“They came in the kitchen, and they’re not that friendly, and they also pushed the window screens in,”
Flanigan told CBS2’s Tracee Carrasco.
“They climb over the fences to the next backyard and they keep going from backyard to backyard, so that’s
why it’s not one homeowner’s problem. It’s everybody’s problem,” Maria Freeman said."

Hugs Help Protect Against Stress and Infection
Dec. 18, 2014
by Bidita Debnath
"Could a hug-a-day keep the doctor away, instead of an apple? According to new research from Carnegie
Mellon University, that may not be that far-fetched of an idea.
Led by Sheldon Cohen, the Robert E. Doherty University Professor of Psychology in CMU's Dietrich College
of Humanities and Social Sciences, the researchers tested whether hugs act as a form of social support,
protecting stressed people from getting sick. Published in Psychological Science, they found that greater
social support and more frequent hugs protected people from the increased susceptibility to infection
associated with being stressed and resulted in less severe illness symptoms.
Cohen and his team chose to study hugging as an example of social support because hugs are typically a
marker of having a more intimate and close relationship with another person.
"We know that people experiencing ongoing conflicts with others are less able to fight off cold viruses. We
also know that people who report having social support are partly protected from the effects of stress on
psychological states, such as depression and anxiety," said Cohen. "We tested whether perceptions of social
support are equally effective in protecting us from stress-induced susceptibility to infection and also whether
receiving hugs might partially account for those feelings of support and themselves protect a person against
infection."

New Study: Hepatitis B Vaccination in France Sparked a Wave of New Cases of MS
Dec. 20, 2014
by Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis
"There has been considerable suspicion about a link between hepatitis B vaccination and the development of
multiple sclerosis. This new study examined detailed national data in France around the mass vaccination of
French adults in the mid 1990s. Following World Health Organisation recommendations in 1992 to mass
vaccinate against hepatitis B to hopefully eradicate the virus, 20 million French people were vaccinated
between 1994 and 1997. In 1998, French media published articles about a sudden increase in the number of
cases of MS developing in France, linking them to this mass vaccination program. Vaccination numbers
rapidly fell as a result. Now 20 years later, by looking at all the data from that time, Dominique Le Houezec
has established a firm link between these vaccinations and a sudden rise in the number of cases of MS
developing in France.
The data clearly show that up to 1993, the number of new cases of MS in France remained quite stable at
2,500 new cases a year. The following years, but especially from 1996, the number increased dramatically to
4,500 a year, and has stayed stable at this level since. The explanation is not entirely clear, but it could be
that one of the proteins in the vaccine was very similar to a protein in myelin. Whatever the mechanism,
because of this unique event in vaccination history, of such a large number of people getting vaccinated
against hepatitis B in such a short time, and the resultant dramatic wave of new cases, it appears highly
likely that hepatitis B vaccination can trigger MS. The author of this paper actually goes so far as calling
this ‘an involuntary very large scale experiment carried out on a third of the French population’. PwMS
would be wise to consider this information when deciding whether to vaccinate family members against
hepatitis B."

September, 2014: Hepatitis B
Stephen Rubin
"A recent report from France claimed that the Hepatitis B vaccine may be linked to the development of multiple
sclerosis. The NVIC points out that this is not news: France stopped requiring the Hepatitis B vaccine for
schoolchildren in 1998 because of multiple sclerosis-like symptoms.
Does VAERS data support this?
Of course, multiple sclerosis is not something that appears quickly after a vaccine, so it is difficult to say for
sure whether the two are linked. Still, VAERS data does list many symptoms, including multiple sclerosis. So we
can examine the data to see if any connection, even a weak one, can be found."

chart included here
There aren’t many VAERS cases that mention Multiple Sclerosis (only 1,116 out of the 480,754 cases). But of
those cases, a whopping 682 are associated with a Hepatitis B vaccine (that’s 61%). If any vaccine is linked to
multiple sclerosis, it’s certainly Hepatitis B."

FDA approves AbbVie combo hepatitis C treatment
Dec. 19, 2014
By LINDA A. JOHNSON AP
"TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Patients with chronic hepatitis C have a new option for treating the liverdamaging virus, with the approval of a combination treatment developed by AbbVie.
The Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved the sale of a packaged treatment called Viekira Pak
made by AbbVie Inc. of North Chicago, Illinois.
It includes a combination pill, which contains the antiviral drugs ombitasvir, paritaprevir and ritonavir,
along with a tablet of dasabuvir. All the ingredients are new except for ritonavir, which works to increase
blood levels of paritaprevir.
It's among several new pill-only hepatitis C treatments that are big improvements over earlier treatments that
are less effective, require injections and cause flu-like side effects.
About 3.2 million Americans are infected with hepatitis C, which generally doesn't cause noticeable
symptoms until the liver is damaged.
Without proper treatment, up to 30 percent of those people will eventually develop cirrhosis, an advanced
liver disease in which excessive alcohol, fat and other substances kill off liver cells, causing scarring of the
liver tissue. The virus can cause liver failure and liver cancer, resulting in the need for a liver transplant.
For decades, patients had no options but older treatments centered on injections of interferon, a synthetic
version of an immune system protein that caused many of the nasty side effects. Those treatments could last
a year or more, were so unpleasant that many patients dropped out and still barely cured one-half of
patients."

Bear is Russia's symbol isn't it?
An op-ed
Wrecking Russia’s economy could be a disaster for the west
Dec. 16, 2014
Angus Roxburgh
It’s sheer folly to hope that the country is destabilised and Vladimir Putin overthrown. We’ve no idea what
the outcome would be
"Like a rudderless ship running out of fuel and buffeted in an icy storm, the Russian economy looks as if it
is heading for a crash. All the graphs – the rouble-dollar rate, the slump in GDP, bank interest rates, oil
prices – look like menacing icebergs. The only question seems to be how long the ship can stay afloat.
There are two immediate causes of the crisis: the price of oil, and western sanctions. Oil is trading at below
$60 a barrel while Russia, still overwhelmingly dependent on exports of its most precious resource, needs a
price of $105 to balance its books. That’s the consequence of having failed to reform and diversify the
economy over the past 20 years.
As for the west’s sanctions, they were introduced with one explicit aim – to force Putin to change tack in
Ukraine. At least, that was the stated aim. But since the measures show no sign of having any effect on his
thinking, and yet the west is considering even more sanctions, there is obviously another goal – to punish
Putin for his actions, regardless of whether he changes his mind. Sadly, it is not Putin who feels this
punishment. It is the Russian people.
The west needs to accept a simple fact: that Putin’s response to sanctions is always bizarre. He tends to favour
reactions that hit his own people rather than the west. America passed the Magnitsky Act to “punish” those
alleged to be responsible for the killing of the lawyer Sergei Magnitsky, and Putin responded by banning
adoptions of Russian orphans by Americans. There is no sign that the killers of Magnitsky suffered in any way;
indeed the only official being investigated for the crime was released. The west imposed sanctions on Putin’s
“cronies” and Russian banks because of the invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea; and Putin
responded by banning the import of western foodstuffs.
To keep repeating the same mistake again and again and expecting different results is, as they say, a sign of
madness. And if by doing so you punish only ordinary Russian people, then it is also cruel – and
counterproductive. Twenty years ago the dream was to rescue the former communist world and bring
prosperity and democracy to its people. What we are doing now is impoverishing and alienating the Russians."

Flu outbreak spreading rapidly in U.S.
Dec. 19, 2014
"Flu season is picking up steam just in time to ruin a lot of people's holidays. The U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention reports widespread flu activity in 29 states, primarily in the South and Midwest.
That's twice as many states as the previous week.
Most of the patients who have been hospitalized with severe cases of the flu are either very young or the very
old. In recent days flu outbreaks have forced schools in Ohio, Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina to
close.
So far this season, the virus has killed 11 children.
Describing the pattern of this year's outbreak, Dr. Anne Schuchat, director of the CDC's National Center for
Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told CBS News, "There's almost like a Christmas tree right in the
middle of the country of the hot spots for disease."
Thirteen states reported high levels of influenza-like illnesses, while another six states saw moderate
activity."

X-FLARE (UPDATED): Big sunspot AR2242 erupted on Saturday, Dec. 20th @ 00:27 UT, producing an
intense X1.8-class solar flare. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured the explosion's extreme
ultraviolet flash:
A pulse of X-rays and UV radiation from the flare reached Earth minutes after the explosion. This "solar
EMP" ionized our planet's upper atmosphere and blacked out HF radio communications over Australia and
the South Pacific. Below 10 MHz, transmissions were strongly attenuated for more than two hours.
The explosion also hurled a CME into space. Click to view a movie of the cloud as recorded by the Solar and
Heliospheric Observatory:
Although the instigating flare was Earth-directed, it appears that the CME is not. The bulk of the cloud will sail
far south of he sun-Earth line, missing our planet.

Been reading the shout box this am, regarding the cyber attacking going on to the US and
St.Louis/Seattle/San Jose, etc. and recorded by the Norse site. Some have mentioned they've never seen
St.Louis being attacked like that before, but I can tell you that it's been going on for a while now. Plus one
night while watching that on-going nonsense, Seattle came under heavy fire, and as I sat and watched, my
internet went totally and completely down. So yes, what we see going on does have an effect, and can take
out internet service.
However, there is another thing I want to mention. I am sure we all agree that just everything is about vibes,
frequencies, how WIFI affects us, cell phones, etc. right? Do you recall the riots in London, a couple years
back? Did you ever read anything about how people stated that they did not know why they had acted the
way they did? Normal everyday people who went on a rampage, destroying vehicles, smashing windows,
setting fires with a violence they could not explain. What is the one thing that most people carry, that would
allow them to be accessed and influenced directly? A cell phone! What would a cell phone be likely to
transmit? A frequency, right? What influences our actions? Frequencies? So now, seeing St. Louis being
attacked like they have been recently, brings up another thought, that hit me this am when reading
something luk3 posted. Ferguson and the horrid violence that's taken place there. Is it possible that the
violence in and around Ferguson/St.Louis has had an outside influence? Such as these attacks that we see
on the Norse site? Those who are focusing and deliberately testing via vibrations/frequencies to see what
can be accomplished without any trace of the outside instigation of the violence being provable? Just some
random thoughts here. No attempt to justify what's taken place, but more a thought to it being escalated
without our knowledge. Possible? or Not? I think it is possible and the riots in the US, sure seem to me to be
very similar to what happened in London.

South Korea steps up cyber security at nuclear plants
Dec. 23, 2014
By Jack Kim and Meeyoung Cho
"SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korea boosted cyber security at the country's nuclear power plants on Tuesday following what
President Park Geun-hye described as a series "grave" data leaks, and prosecutors said they were investigating a new
online threat.
Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power Co Ltd (KHNP), which runs South Korea's 23 nuclear power reactors, said on Monday its
computer systems had been hacked, raising alarm in a country that is still technically at war with North Korea.
Park ordered inspections of safeguards at national infrastructure facilities, including nuclear power plants, against what
she called "cyber terrorism".
A government official said authorities had raised the cyber crisis alert by one level for all the state-run companies to
"caution" from "attention".
The nuclear operator, part of state-run utility Korea Electric Power Corp, said only non-critical data had been stolen and
operations of the nuclear plants were not at risk. South Korea's law enforcement authorities are investigating the leaks."

Why Coconut Oil Will Change Your Life
"Coconut oil is one of the most unique products on the market right now. The positive rewards it brings to your life upon
use are just too amazing to go unnoticed. Coconut oil isn't just an awesome tool to cook with but it is also an amazing
product to use for beauty purposes. This gallery contains some of the best ways to use coconut oil that will help bring
about positive change to your life! "
1. Exfoliate
Some people choose to create their own exfoliator by mixing together 2 tablespoons of sugar and around 3 tablespoons
of coconut oil. Put it in a jar or container and use it to your liking... you won't be upset with the results.
2. Conditioner
Coconut oil can be used to hydrate your hair as a deep conditioner. All you have to do is heat up some hot water and add
a little coconut oil to it. The rest is as easy as applying it to your scalp and enjoying the benefits.
3. Eye Makeup Remover
Do you have a cotton ball? Okay, good. Now all you need is the coconut oil and you will have one of the best eye makeup
remover products on the market. It also works on waterproof make up as well.
4. Moisturize
Coconut Oil has been used as a full body moisturizer for some time now. It has become widly accepted as a fantastic
substitue for lotion. Apply it to your body throughout the day and there will be no doubt that you feel the difference. Soft,
glowing, and smooth are three words to describe the after effect of coconut oil use.
5. Cuticle care
Most of us know the importance of keeping your cuticles healthy and clean. Some people seem, however, seem to not
care nor know about how to keep their cuticles healthy and clean. For those that need a tip: apply coconut oil on your
cuticles and it will help make your nails incredibly healthy and strong!
6. Deodorant
Some people apply the coconut oil straight to their arm pits, but you can also make your own deodorant by mixing
together shea butter, arrowroot, baking soda, and coconut oil. It works wonders and is100% natural.
7. Lips
Yes. You can even apply coconut oil to your lips. It works wonders with them as well. Basically, coconut oil will change
your life if you give it a chance.
8. Sunburn superwonder
Use it to prevent or heal a sunburn. Doesn't it seem like coconut oil can do it all? Well, it kind of can...
9. Clean Brushes
Let the brushes soak in coconut oil for awhile, then rinse them off. They will be as good as new. (artist's brushes)

Ukraine takes historic step toward Nato membership
Dec. 23, 2014
MPs adopt bill dropping Ukraine's non-aligned status in move certain to anger Vladimir Putin and Russia
"Ukraine took a historic step toward Nato on Tuesday in a parliamentary vote certain to stoke Russia's anger ahead of
talks on ending the ex-Soviet state's separatist war.
MPs in the government-controlled chamber overwhelmingly adopted a bill dropping Ukraine's non-aligned status – a
classification given to states such as Switzerland which refuse to join military alliances and thus play no part in wars.
President Petro Poroshenko had vowed to put Ukraine under Western military protection after winning an election called
in the wake of the February ouster in Kiev of a Moscow-backed president.
"Ukraine's fight for its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty has turned into a decisive factor in our relations
with the world," Poroshenko told foreign ambassadors in Kiev on Monday night.
Ukraine assumed neutrality under strong Russian pressure in 2010. It had sought Nato membership in the early postSoviet era but – its once-mighty army in ruins and riven by corruption – was never viewed as a serious candidate.

The week the dam broke in Russia and ended Putin's dreams
Dec. 23, 2014
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor
“It’s going to be worse than the default crisis in 1998. This time you have a situation where the West is against them,”
said Mr Browder from Hermitage
"Gallows humour is back in Moscow. Asked what he would do to stop the rouble spiralling out of control, the former
governor of Russia’s central bank replied: “I would pick up a pistol and shoot myself.”
This was the week when the country’s long-festering crisis turned virulent. A last-ditch attempt to defend the exchange
rate by raising interest rates to 17pc failed within hours, yet the shock is surely enough to set off a chain of corporate
failures and push banks over the edge.
Traders in the City watched open-mouthed as the dam broke on Black Tuesday. The event exposed the awful reality that
the Kremlin does not have the infinite foreign reserves that many had supposed. “What is happening is a nightmare that
we could not even have imagined a year ago,” says the central bank’s deputy chief, Sergei Shvetsov.
The currency has since stabilised at 60 to the dollar. But it has lost half its value in a year. Russia’s $2.1trillion
(£1.3 trillion) economy has shrunk to $1.1 trillion, half the GDP of California."
snip
Russia firms must repay $120bn of hard-currency debt over the next year. They cannot roll over the loans. Eric Chaney
from AXA warns clients to brace for a wave of defaults by “non-strategic” companies.
The Kremlin will prop up national champions but this bleeds their reserves. Browder says Putin is trying every trick to put
off the inevitable, but capital controls are coming. “They won’t announce it: they will just starting doing it quietly by
forcing companies to convert dollars into roubles,” he says.
The Nordic bank SEB says the central bank faces a horrible choice between ferociously high interest rates – perhaps
100pc – or exchange controls. “We think it will reluctantly opt for the latter,” it says. SEB expects the Kremlin to freeze
dividends and force companies to repatriate earnings. Isolation and Stalinist autarky lie ahead.
What is remarkable is that Russia’s leaders so quickly forgot the lesson of the mid-1980s when collapsing oil prices broke
the back of the Soviet Union. Former premier Yegor Gaidar dated the moment to September 1985, when Saudi Arabia
flooded the crude market. The Kremlin sold its gold, down to its pre-1917 imperial bars, until it ran out of cash for food
imports. “The collapse of the USSR should serve as a lesson to those who construct policy based on the assumption that
oil prices will remain perpetually high. A seemingly stable superpower disintegrated,” he said.

Russia faces oil export catastrophe, snared in Opec price trap
Dec. 23, 2014
By Andrew Critchlow, Commodities editor
"Vladimir Putin faces a catastrophic shortfall of at least $80bn (£51bn) in oil export revenue over the next year, after
Opec kingpin Saudi Arabia signalled there will be no easing in the price war it has launched to recapture market share.
According to US Energy Information Administration (EIA) figures, oil and gas shipments accounted for 68pc of Russia's
total $527bn of gross exports in 2013, when Brent crude - comparable to Russian Urals - traded at an average of $108
per barrel.
Should the current price of Brent, at around $60 per barrel, be sustained over the next 12 months, that would result in
Russia's export income from crude dropping to $95bn, from $174bn in 2013. However, these losses will be amplified by
the total loss of revenue accrued from lower prices for refined petroleum products and domestic sales of crude, which
totalled $122bn in 2013, according to the EIA.
Comments made over the weekend by Saudi Arabia's powerful oil minister Ali Naimi that the kingdom would not cut
production even if prices fell to a level of $20 per barrel will have sent a cold chill through the corridors of the Kremlin
where preparations are already being made to cope with a deep economic recession. Russia is being squeezed hard by a
combination of tough trade and financial sanctions and plummeting oil prices, which are eroding its main source of hard
foreign currency earnings.
Although officials from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (Opec) and Saudi Arabia have dismissed the
theory that the cartel has embarked on an all out price war by leaving its production unchanged at its last meeting in
November, the view in Russia is that prices are being manipulated for political purposes.

Monsanto/Bayer's GM Plants Contaminate Europe Despite Ban
Sayer Ji
Dec. 26, 2014
"New evidence reveals that despite a ban on cultivation of GM rapeseed in Europe, Monsanto and Bayer's plants are
now freely growing there.
A new study published in PLoS titled, "Unexpected Diversity of Feral Genetically Modified Oilseed Rape (Brassica napus
L.) Despite a Cultivation and Import Ban in Switzerland," is believed to be the first report of its kind showing that despite
a cultivation and seed import ban of genetically modified (GM) oilseed rape in Switzerland, Monsanto and Bayer's GM
plants have been introduced into the environment there, confirming fears that once the GM genie has been let out of the
bottle it cannot be put back.
The GM plants were found growing freely along railway lines and in port areas at four sites in 2011 and 2012, with the
most afflicted being the Rhine port of Basel and the St. Johann freight railway station in Basel, Switzerland. The
glyphosate-resistant GM plants were identified as Monsanto's Roundup-Ready GM event GT73. Additionally, the
researchers found the glufosinate-resistant GM events MS8xRF3, MS8 and RF3 (all traded as InVigor, Bayer) at five
sampling locations in the Rhine port. They noted that this is, to their knowledge, the first time that Bayer's feral
MS8xRF3, MS8 or RF3 plants were detected in Europe.
Another concerning finding was the discovery of 'outcrossing' (transference of genetic material between differing plant
strains) between Monsanto's GT73 GM plant and two non-GM oilseed rape plants. This confirms fears that GM plants
are capable of transforming conventional and/or organically produced plants into GM ones (i.e. 'biorape')."

Hi Fellow Chaniites:
I believe you all know I went back to South Africa in November of this year. This is the story via word, pictures, and
videos. It has taken me a while to get started on this story, which I will explain a little later in this post.
First I want to dedicate this thread to Acolyte, for without him, I would never have gotten to visit, or have had the
wonderful experiences I've had as a result. Lukas and Vernessa (host and hostess) are beyond reproach, and we got to
visit Kruger often, thanks to them. All three of them went out of their way to do nice things for me, and I would have a
hard time expressing sufficient appreciation for their actions. My room was wonderful, air conditioned, with an on suite
bathroom, and thanks to their maid, Martha, the whole place was shining with cleanliness.
This time I flew with South African Airlines. I cannot express my admiration for this airline enough. I highly recommend
flying with SAA. I left Seattle on November 11, 2014, flew to JFK, and luckily I caught my flight out in the same terminal,
so no running from one end of the airport to the other. Then flew on to Johannesburg, an incredible airport with many
people willing to help if you needed it, then to Nelspruit, where Acolyte, Lukas and Vernessa waited and watched my
plane arrive on November 13, 2014. It was great having people waiting for me, and excitement was crackling. A
wonderful flight from start to finish. Interesting enough, I never slept throughout the whole 28+ hours in the air, yet I had
no jet lag problems upon arrival. Even managed to stay up until 9PM, it was as though I'd never even been on a plane. I
walked into that time line, as though I'd been there all along, and had never left back in 2013.
I hope to tell the story of this visit to South Africa, and all of our animal experiences through pictures and videos taken
during my stay. Please bear with me as I do this. Taking pictures with a phone instead of digital camera, taking videos
the same way, and putting them all on the laptop, then transferring them, plus messed up sleep the last few weeks, has
caused a bit of a delay in getting this started.

Then this photo of the moon showed up on Facebook on Dec. 24, 2014 and the guy is supposed to be a professional who
said the following:
"Crazy moon shots I got tonight. Not sure what was behind the moon, but I didn't hear news of any eclipse tonight and
the sun had already been down for quite some time. As you can see in the picture, I captured the full moons shape, but
something super bright is behind it blocking out the the majority of the moon tonight to the naked eye. So with my
camera, I did a delayed shutter capture with some HDR and this is what I caught.

Perhaps narrow minded in that it is only ONE man's opinion. In order to portray a true all around picture, one would
need the views of experienced public defenders from all over the country. One would have a tendency to become jaded
after 20 years, so maybe it's time he changes jobs, because EACH person, no matter their COLOR, deserves the best that
public defender has to offer in the line of defense, and at this point, Mr. Public Defender of this article is NO LONGER
CAPABLE of delivering that which he has sworn to do. DEFEND! Because he is no longer unbiased and that WOULD have
an effect on his ability to defend the general public, especially those of color. disclaimer: just my opinion fwiw

CBR launches SWIFT alternative for domestic payments
Dec. 26, 2014
"The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has launched a new SWIFT-style payment service aimed at moving away from Western
financial dominance. The system is already operating, and will be fully functional within six months.
"The new service was launched in order to ensure smooth and safe transmission of financial messaging within the
country, and is another step towards improving the system of services provided by the Bank of Russia,” said the bank
statement Friday.
The regulator said the new service will allow credit institutions to transmit messages in a SWIFT format through CBR to
all Russia’s regions without restrictions.
The calls to disconnect Russian banks from the global interbank SWIFT system came amid the deterioration of relations
between Russia and the West and the introduction of sanctions."

Emergency shutdown at Ukraine’s largest nuclear power plant
Dec. 28, 2014
"One of the reactors at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant was automatically shut down after a glitch. This was the
second halt in operations in recent weeks at the plant in Ukraine’s southeast, which covers at least one fifth of the
country’s power needs.
“Unit 6 at Zaporizhzhya NPP was disconnected from the network by the automatic system that prevents damage to the
generator. The reactor is running at 40 percent of nominal power,” the plant’s official website says stressing that
radiation at the facility is equal to the natural background, which is 8-12 microroentgen/hour.
This accident took place on Sunday morning at 05:59 am local time (03:59 GMT). Causes are still being investigated,
while the Energy Ministry hopes to restart the unit in the coming days. The remaining five reactors continue to generate
an estimated 4,530 MW.
Late on Sunday, the problem had been fixed and the power plant’s sixth power block had been plugged back into the
network, the plant said on its website.
"Unit №6 was plugged back in after an error was corrected...At this moment all six power blocks are working,” the
statement said.
The previous incident at Zaporizhia NPP happened on November 28, but the fact went public five days later, when
Ukraine’s Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk revealed it during the first session of his new cabinet."

MONSTER WAVE IN SOUTH AFRICA
About 150 people ripped into the sea
The beaches of South Africa these days are full of local vacationers and tourists
Sunbathers, surfers and tourists gathered yesterday as usual at this season's popular "Wedge beach" of Durban (South
Africa). Suddenly, a huge wave rolled in - at a stroke 150 people were torn into the sea.
A man in his mid 40 was pressed under water. Doctors tried to save him yet - and too late. The other swimmers were
slightly injured. At other city beaches drowned two more people.
The spokesman of the rescue service, Robert McKenzie:
"The unusual big wave may have been triggered by a particularly strong tide."
Civil protection warned today because of violent summer storms from flooding and other dangerous waves.
Along the South African coast on the Indian Ocean there because of the holidays and the summer holidays currently very

I am going to continue posting about the first couple weeks and all that took place, I will, of course also post many
pictures. Thank my lucky stars I did take a few notes along the way to help me remember things. The day of my arrival, it
was warm. I got into the splash pool, and found the water most refreshing. Managed to stay up until late, then slept
well. The next morning, we all went into Komatipoort to the bank, exchanged currency, then went shopping. This time,
when I exchanged currency, there was no limit to the amount of funds that could be exchanged, just as it had been in
Aug. 2013.
We had much fun in the Spar, as there was a spirited discussion over which cheese crackers we'd bought in 2013, LOL,
and the cream cheese, I'd fallen in love with, no longer came plain, it was all flavored with one thing or another, but still
exemplary in any case. Relish. What do you call relish?? ha ha Not what I call relish I tell you. I looked everywhere, from
which ensued another spirited discussion about Chutney and how that is/isn't really relish. Going to the Spar was
definitely fun. Acolyte is a great and fun person to shop with, and has the patience of Job. The relish thing got crazy and
there were many fun nights in Chani Chat over relish and roosters, and everything in between. OH, and let us not forget
Elephants. But I do believe I am getting ahead of myself here.
For the first couple days, we didn't see any animals while driving around in Marloth Park, which surprised me somewhat.
Then again, the second day I was there, it was 9 C, and I might add, a sweatshirt felt just fine. Reminded me of PNW
weather. Then the next day it was 11 C, it seemed I had brought the cold weather with me. It did warm up rather quickly
in the days following. We did go looking for Henry the warthog, but never actually found him where he hangs out now.
However, one day about 4 days before I had to leave, a stray warthog came through the property. Never slowed down,
just trotted on through, but I am convinced it was Henry.
The warthog mama they named Breezy, and her four piglets came to visit every day, and the one day only one piglet
came. We were very concerned. We fed him pellets, he ate a bit then went out the left side of the yard. A bit later we saw
Breezy and the other 3 piglets come into the yard from the right side. She was obviously looking for her lost one, but also
stopped to eat a bit. All of a sudden, we heard this squealing racket, and the fourth piglet came running back into the
yard from the left hand side. Such a happy noise as I ever heard in my life happened right then. The baby was squealing,
and making all sorts of noises and mama was doing the same thing and nuzzling each other all the while. Such a happy
reunion to be lucky enough to see. It just made each of us feel pleased and thankful inside for being allowed to witness
such a thing.
This same day the group of 7 Zebras came to visit. After we had fed them pellets and bananas, they quieted down,
turned their backs to Acolyte and I who were sitting on the porch, and stood in a semi-circle all quiet and calm, not
moving, not making a sound. All of a sudden both of us could feel that we were being pulled into their circle, and into
their thoughts. It was magical. Calm and serene and it was as though we were really being made a part of them. We
tried not to move and only spoke in a whisper once or twice, because we didn't want to break the mood, the feeling of
now, the just being there and being a part of something so special it is truly hard to put into words. We felt they had
extended their semi-circle into a full circle when they included the two of us sitting there on the porch. How absolutely
privileged I feel to have had such an experience. That particular group of Zebras were there in the yard, literally, all that
day. What an absolute joy.
I am going to post some pictures here
This is just a start Chani. The monkeys you see. One only came one morning early, so thinking he was the only one, I
threw out one banana for him/her. I Immediately had monkeys everywhere wanting bananas from me. They even
came up and tried to get in the door, and I closed it right quick like. LOL to be cont'd................

Mysterious Russian satellite sparks ‘orbital weapon’ speculations
from Nov. 20, 2014
did we see this???
"A mysterious Russian satellite orbiting Earth has global media in a bit of a spin after the object, thought to be space
debris, conducted suspicious manoeuvres in space sparking rumors of little less than a revival of old Soviet satellite-killer
program.
The unknown space object was reportedly launched into space 6 months ago, along with a cluster of three military
communication satellites which received identification names Kosmos-2496, Kosmos-2497, Kosmos-2498. The fourth
object was not declared to be among the rocket cargo, so was thought to be debris from the launch and dubbed “Object
2014-28E.”
But after it was spotted performing some unusual maneuvers, the US military reportedly re-classified it as a satellite.
“It has been known about for a while, and certainly all satellites are tracked anyway as a matter of routine,” Colin Philp
of the British Interplanetary Society told RT."
But with Russian authorities being mute regarding the matter, which might be a common practice for space missions,
and anyone being able to track the object online –speculation mushroomed.
The Financial Times was the first to report on the mysterious object presumably being a “Russian satellite killer.” The UK
international daily said the object is now being tracked by the US military under the NORAD designation 39765 and
claimed that the secrecy around it caused “fears over the revival of a defunct Kremlin project to destroy satellites.”
As Russia's defense ministry did not respond to journalists’ request for comment, more news outlets as well as space
enthusiasts on social media, got involved with the mystery."

2015 – An 8 UNIVERSAL YEAR With Great Potential for Increased Wealth and Prosperity
December 31, 2014
By Michael John Fierro
"2015 is a Universal Year, the 8 th in this current 9-year Cycle. This is a year in which the world begins to truly reap what
was sown in 2008. The Eight has a strong association with the elements of power, big affairs, big business, money and
finances. And, Eight has an extremely strong connection with the concept of Karma (receiving that which you deserve for
your actions) and the Universal Laws of return and attraction.
If you lay the Eight on its side, it is the symbol of Infinity and the unending cycle of life and consciousness. The number 8
card in the Tarot is Strength. 8 symbolizes form that is solidified in matter. “As you sow, so shall you reap.” the energy of
Karma, the Universal Law of Truth, that is cause and effect. As mankind creates, in thought, desire and action, the right
vibration manifests on the material plane and we reap the harvest.
Go back to 2008 and consider the many major events that took place throughout the world. In the United States it was
the financial collapse/disaster of Wall Street and then a couple of months later, the election of Barack Obama, the first
black American president. The latter event was followed by a promise and an agenda set forth by the opposition to do
everything in their power to stop Obama from being an effective president. The former events may portend an even
greater financial crisis. This is especially true if the groundwork that has been laid over the last seven years was designed
to further impugn the integrity of the institutions that serve the greater good, through actions that are not beneficial to
the public at large. If steps were taken to truly improve the sector, with the public’s benefit and welfare in mind, then this
will be a turn-around year for everyone.
In this author’s opinion, 2015 promises to make all previous years either pale in comparison, or be enough of a negative
force that it prompts politicians to begin working for the best interests of everyone. The people of the United States
spoke in 2008 and resoundingly said they were for the concepts of hope and change. Can that vision become a reality
this year? Or, have we lost our way and have traveled further along the path towards submission to the rich and
powerful? This Universal 8 Year presents the stage for the realization of the overwhelming need to unify with the god
forces of the Universe. No matter your personal belief, this is the time to align yourself with a more peaceful and loving
center. For today’s world, the encouragement is to look at the big picture and do what is necessary to bring about grand
scale actions that benefit the greater good. 2015 holds great potential for big things to occur that can shake the world.
The very positive aspects of the Eight during 2015 include success and progress in the realm of money, finances and
rewards for work accomplished. The 8 Universal year can bring about great prosperity for both individuals and
businesses. This will in turn lead to great national prosperity and the ripples of success can reach out and touch
everyone. In the world of business, 2015 can be a year of increased mergers and take-overs, either hostile or compatibly.
This year can also be a year for improving relationships with other countries both politically and economically. Of course,
a great deal of activity in this sector will be firmly tied to what groundwork was laid in 2008. Optimistically, we can
expect big things in the world and perhaps, a real opportunity for political treaties that will end the strife and conflicts
begun in the One Universal Year."

The year of dollar danger for the world
Jan. 1, 2015
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor
"America’s closed economy can handle a surging dollar and a fresh cycle of rising interest rates. Large parts of the world
cannot. That in a nutshell is the story of 2015.
Tightening by the US Federal Reserve will have turbo-charged effects on a global financial system addicted to zero rates
and dollar liquidity.
Yields on 2-year US Treasuries have surged from 0.31pc to 0.74pc since October, and this is the driver of currency
markets.
Since the New Year ritual of predictions is a time to throw darts, here we go: the dollar will hit $1.08 against the euro
before 2015 is out, and 100 on the dollar index (DXY).
Sterling will buckle to $1.30 as a hung Parliament prompts global funds to ask why they are lending so freely to a country
with a current account deficit reaching 6pc of GDP.
snip
The Fed pivot comes as China’s Xi Jinping is trying to deflate his own country’s $25 trillion credit boom, early in his 10year term and before it is too late. He does not need or want uber-growth. The Politburo will more or less keep its nerve
as long as China continues to meet its target of 10m new jobs a year – easily achieved in 2014 – and job vacancies
outstrip applicants.
Uncle Xi will ultimately blink, but traders betting on a quick return to credit stimulus may lose their shirts first. Worse yet,
when he blinks, a tool of choice may be to drive down the yuan to fight Japan’s devaluation, and to counter beggar-thyneighbour dynamics across East Asia. This would export yet more Chinese deflation to the rest of the world.
snip
At best we are entering a new financial order where there is no longer an automatic “Fed Put” or a “Politburo Put” to act
as a safety net for asset markets. That may be healthy in many ways, but it may also be a painful discovery for some.
A sated China is as much to “blame” for the crash in oil prices as America’s shale industry. Together they have knouted
Russia's Vladimir Putin. The bear market will short-circuit at Brent prices of $40, but not just because shale capitulates.
Marginal producers in Canada, the North Sea, West Africa and the Arctic will share the punishment. The biggest loser will
be Saudi Arabia, reaping the geostrategic whirlwind of its high stakes game, facing Iranian retaliation through the Shia
of the Eastern Province where the oil lies, and Russian retaliation through the Houthis in Yemen."

FBI watchful as firms explore cyberoffensive against hackers
By Michael Riley and Jordan Robertson
Dec. 31, 2014
"WASHINGTON — The hacked are itching to hack back.
So say a dozen security specialists and former law- enforcement officials, who described an intensifying and largely
unspoken sense of unease inside many companies after the recent breach of Sony's networks.
U.S. officials have shown little appetite to intervene as banks, retailers, casinos, power companies and manufacturers
have been targeted by foreign-based hackers. Private-sector companies doing business in the U.S. have few clear
options for striking back on their own.
That has led a growing number of companies to push the limits of existing law to consider ways to break into hackers'
networks to retrieve stolen data or even knock computers offline to stop attacks, the cybersecurity professionals said
in interviews. Some companies are enlisting cybersecurity firms, many with military or government security ties, to
walk them through options for disrupting hacker operations or peering into foreign networks to find out what
intellectual property hackers may have stolen.
In one case, the FBI is looking into whether hackers working on behalf of any U.S. financial institutions disabled
servers that were being used by Iran to attack the websites of major banks last year, said two people familiar with the
investigation. JPMorgan Chase & Co. advocated such a move in a closed meeting in February 2013, these people said.
A bank spokeswoman said no action was ever taken. Federal investigators are still trying to determine who was
responsible, the people said.
"It's kind of a Wild West right now," said Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security
Committee. Some victim companies may be conducting offensive operations "without getting permission" from the
federal government, he said.
"They're very frustrated," McCaul said of these firms."

Smart grid powers up privacy worries
Jan. 1, 2015
By David Perera
"The next Big Data threat to our privacy may come from the electricity we consume in our homes.
“Smart” online power meters are tracking energy use — and that data may soon be worth more than the electricity they
distribute.
The Department of Energy is publishing in January the final draft of a voluntary code of conduct governing data privacy
for smart meters, 38 million of which have already been installed nationwide. The meters gather information about
household electricity consumption and transmit it wirelessly at regular intervals to the supplier. It’s a key element in the
push for the so-called smart grid, a more efficient way to distribute the nation’s electricity.
But, despite the voluntary code, critics fear consumers will still be cajoled or conned into giving up their data, not just
to power companies but to third-party data aggregators. Too much money is at stake, they say. And the huge profits
to be made could upend the business model of energy utilities.
“I think the data is going to be worth a lot more than the commodity that’s being consumed to generate the data,”
said Miles Keogh, director of grants and research at the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners.
All sorts of inferences about people’s private lives are potentially available from detailed energy consumption data.
The number of people inside a house. Daily routines. Degree of religious observance. Household appliance usage.
Even, according to two German hackers, what’s on the television, given a fast enough meter refresh rate.
“Very sensitive information can be revealed about homes, and homes are the most sacred privacy environment,” said
Nancy King, an Oregon State University business law and ethics academic who’s studying smart meter deployments."

AirAsia Flight QZ8501 'Not Authorised To Fly'
Jan. 3, 2015
The company could lose its licence in Indonesia as it emerges the doomed flight was not allowed to travel on the day of
the crash.
AirAsia could be banned from offering flights in Indonesia, after it emerged that Flight QZ8501 was not authorised to fly
on the day it plunged into the Java Sea.
"The company also faces allegations that the pilot did not ask for a weather report from meteorologists before take-off,
amid concerns that the Airbus A320 was downed in stormy conditions.
Indonesia's transport ministry has suspended all AirAsia flights between Surabaya and Singapore – the route where the
plane went missing in the early hours of 28 December.
The budget airline's other schedules are also under investigation, as it was not permitted to make this journey on
Sundays."

4.9 earthquake hits Challis, no significant damage reported; felt sporadically across region
Jan. 3, 2015
"The earthquake, confirmed by the U.S. Geological Survey, comes roughly two weeks after a 3.7magnitude quake in the same area.
Saturday's quake was recorded at 10:44 a.m. about four miles east of Challis. It was felt at least as far away as the
Treasure Valley, about 120 miles directly southwest, and in western Montana according to reports on social media and in
emails to the Statesman.
Penny Shinderling, an employee at Lamb's Foodtown in Challis, told the Statesman that a couple of things fell off shelves
in the store but otherwise the quake "just gave us a good shake."

Idaho earthquake causes rock slides, damages property
Laura Zuckerman
Jan. 3, 2015
"SALMON, Idaho (Reuters) - A moderate earthquake rattled a broad swath of Idaho early on Saturday, damaging
property and triggering rock slides near its epicenter in Challis, a city that has endured hundreds of slight to moderate
temblors over the last 10 months, authorities said.
The latest measured at a magnitude of 4.9 and was centered about four miles (6.5 km) from Challis in the state's central
mountains, but was felt as far away as Boise, a 190-mile (305-km) drive to the southwest, the U.S. Geological Survey
said.
The quake caused rock slides, damaged homes and knocked out power around Custer County, local officials said."

Forget Ebola: The CDC Just Declared This Infectious Disease an Epidemic
Sean Williams
Jan. 3, 2014
SNIP
""The CDC just declared this disease an epidemic
Yet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, wants you to know there's a far more serious infectious
disease ravaging the United States at the moment. In fact, this disease is so serious that the CDC officially declared it an
epidemic earlier this week after 15 children died from it. This epidemic is none other than the flu.
According to the latest data from the CDC, the number of states reporting a high level of influenza-like activity has
jumped to 22 states from 13 in the prior week, while the percentage of deaths associated with pneumonia and infectious
diseases has risen above the cyclical epidemic threshold, as you can see below.
Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Additionally, the CDC reports that a vast majority of flu cases this year have been of the H3N2 subtype. As ABC News
reports, the H3 subtype is the one most associated with flu-related deaths, signaling that we could be dealing with the
start of a severe flu season.
Why we can't just cure the flu
Some of you might be wondering why, if pharmaceutical research has advanced as much as it has, the flu still leads to
many deaths and complications each year. There are actually multiple answers to this question.
To start with, researchers have to play a guessing game with regard to what flu strains are likely to dominate in the
upcoming flu season. Because it can take weeks or months for vaccine developers to ramp up their production and make
tens of millions of doses, they need to know what strains researchers believe will be prevalent months before the flu
season starts. In other words, researchers are merely offering their best guesses. It's an inexact science that's amazingly
been right more often than wrong; but it's nowhere near foolproof.
Also, the flu isn't static. Like any infectious disease, the flu strain can change over time, rendering the educated guesses
of researchers wrong from time to time, and the vaccines developed by pharmaceutical companies as antiquated.
Finally, take into account that the incentive to develop a vaccine may not always be there for pharmaceutical companies.
Understandably, pharmaceutical companies want to help make consumers healthier -- but they also need to turn a profit
in order to fuel additional research and development.
Vaccine development isn't always profitable because virus mutations can render a vaccine practically worthless, and
there's also no guarantee that a vaccine will be purchased by governments around the globe even if it's approved. The
truth is that the innovation incentive sometimes just isn't there."

Ebola-hit UK nurse in critical condition
Jan. 3, 2015
"London (AFP) - A British nurse who contracted Ebola in Sierra Leone and was hospitalised in London this week is now in
a "critical" condition, the hospital treating her said Saturday.
"The condition of Pauline Cafferkey has gradually deteriorated over the past two days and is now critical," the Royal Free
Hospital in London said in a statement.
On Wednesday, doctors had said the 39-year-old Scot was sitting up in bed, reading and talking to staff from inside her
isolation tent in the hospital.
They said Cafferkey, who was working with the charity Save the Children in Sierra Leone, had agreed to have blood
plasma treatment and take an experimental anti-viral drug.
However, they were not able to give her ZMapp, the drug successfully used to treat fellow British volunteer nurse William
Pooley, because global supplies had run out.

As of December 28 -- not counting Cafferkey -- a total of 678 healthcare workers were known to have contracted the
virus, and 382 of them had died, the WHO said."

Mystery at the sun's south pole: Nasa reveals huge 'coronal hole' on the solar surface where winds reach 500 miles
per SECOND
Mark Prigg
Jan. 2, 2015
 Coronal holes are regions of the corona where the magnetic field reaches out into space
 Particles moving along those magnetic fields can leave the sun rather than being trapped near the surface
 Polar coronal hole can remain visible for five years or longer, although constantly changes shape
There were no fireworks on the sun to welcome in the New Year - and in fact, scientists say the end of the year was
relatively quiet on the solar surface.
However, the sun has started 2015 with a mysterious event - a huge hole has appeared.
Known as a coronal hole, the phenomenon occurred near the south pole - and is seen as a dark area covered all of its base
in these stunning images.
Coronal holes are regions of the corona where the magnetic field reaches out into space rather than looping back down
onto the surface - and eject solar winds far faster than other parts of the sun.
"The incredible image was captured on Jan. 1, 2015 by the Atmospheric Imaging Assembly (AIA) instrument on NASA's
Solar Dynamics Observatory, shows the coronal hole as a dark region in the south.
Coronal holes are regions of the corona where the magnetic field reaches out into space rather than looping back down
onto the surface.
Particles moving along those magnetic fields can leave the sun rather than being trapped near the surface. Those trapped
particles can heat up and glow, giving us the lovely AIA images.
In the parts of the corona where the particles leave the sun, the glow is much dimmer and the coronal hole looks dark.
Coronal holes were first seen in images taken by astronauts on board NASA's Skylab space station in 1973 and 1974.
They can be seen for a long time, although the exact shape changes all the time.
The polar coronal hole can remain visible for five years or longer.
Each time a coronal hole rotates by the Earth we can measure the particles flowing out of the hole as a high-speed stream,
another source of space weather.
Charged particles in the Earth's radiation belts are accelerated when the high-speed stream runs into the Earth's
magnetosphere."

Germany believes euro zone could cope with Greece exit: report
Jan. 3, 2015
"(Reuters) - The German government believes that the euro zone would now be able to cope with a Greece exit if
that proved to be necessary, Der Spiegel news magazine reported on Saturday, citing unnamed government sources.
Both Chancellor Angela Merkel and Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble believe the euro zone has implemented
enough reforms since the height of the regional crisis in 2012 to make a potential Greece exit manageable, Der
Spiegel reported.
"The danger of contagion is limited because Portugal and Ireland are considered rehabilitated," the weekly news
magazine quoted one government source saying.
In addition, the European Stability Mechanism (ESM), the euro zone's bailout fund, is an "effective" rescue
mechanism and was now available, another source added. Major banks would be protected by the banking union.
The German government in Berlin could not be reached for comment."

Another animal experience right here.
One does not realize how quietly they walk. We were sitting outside one night in the dark. All of a sudden, there was
right in front of us, a huge Kudu. We never even heard him walk into the yard. Well, I didn't in any case. Acolyte has far
keener hearing than I, and I can't recall whether he heard him or not, I just know I didn't, but there he was. When he
came, Acolyte got him some pellets, so he'd eat and be encouraged to stay around. The container you see in the daylight
picture is the pellet container, that landed right at the Kudu's feet the night before. While he was there that night I tried
many times to get a picture of him, but when it gets dark in the bush, as you can imagine, it is really and truly dark.
Finally I gave up, but whispered to the Kudu, that he must come back in the morning, so I could get a proper picture of
him. I knew he was listening, because I could see his ears moving. Never did I dream that he would accommodate me like
he did. Special? You bet your backside!! This beautiful, majestic animal had a surprise in store for me. The next morning
I awoke early, before anyone else. Made my coffee, grabbed my phone, and book, proceeded out to the porch, sat down,
was buried in my book, and got the feeling something was watching me. Looked up, and there he was. The Kudu.
Standing within feet, watching me, and once again, I never heard him come into the yard and walk up that close. Thrilled
beyond words, I talked to him softly, thanked him for coming back, got him some more pellets, and started taking
pictures of him. I will give you here, a picture taken at night, then next morning. NO they are not zoomed. I was actually
that close to this Kudu, within a few feet, both at night and in the following morning. (yes the night picture is dark, but
you can see him)
The following pictures are of the porch we sat on to watch the animals and just relax. Such beauty, why does my heart
feel it here, but nowhere else quite like it? Why do my eyes see the colors in such a way that has never been before? I
have been many places, but S.Africa touches me like no other place has.

Seven of the Most Powerful Medicinal Plants
Christine S.
Dec. 31, 2014
"Anyone who has studied plants will not be surprising to learn that the majority of prescription drugs today owe their
medicinal powers to some form of plant derivative. For most of human history, plants have been a sort of public
pharmacy for people all over the world. Below are seven of the most powerful medicinal plants, along with a description
of some of their healing properties.
Cannabis
Most people will be surprised to learn that up until the 1970’s, cannabis was legal in most of the United States – and it
seems to be headed towards legality again. Studies have shown that use of this plant can help with conditions as diverse
as depression and anxiety, high blood pressure, pain and even glaucoma.
Lady Fern
When crushed and applied to the skin, the juice from lady ferns is good for easing stings and insect bites as well as minor
cuts and burns. Bracken, a much larger cousin of the lady fern, can achieve the same results for irritated skin.
Tansy
Used in Europe as least as far back as medieval times, tansy is an old-world remedy and general tonic. It can also be
applied topically as a natural insect repellent or taken internal as a treatment for worms.
Mint
Forms of mint have been used by peoples all over the world for much the same conditions, including nausea, upset
stomach and other digestive problems and to help with headaches, nervousness and fatigue.
Alfalfa
Known as “The Father of All Plants”, alfalfa can grow several feet tall and brings many health benefits. It is loaded with
antioxidants and is an old-time treatment for ailments like morning sickness, nausea, kidney stones, and urinary
discomfort.
Sage
It’s not just for stuffing anymore! This aromatic herb is loaded with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds. It can
improve digestion which soothing muscle cramps, calming down bouts of diarrhea and can also help fight off colds and
flus.
Red Clover
Red clover can be brewed into a tea which is great for settling down coughs and other symptoms of the common cold. It
can also help detoxify the blood and make it easier for the body to rid itself of unwanted or harmful substances. In
addition to this, it is also a traditional “women’s herb” to balance the hormones, especially for women going through
menopause.
These are just a few of the thousands of plants from all over the world that have been used from time immemorial for
their healing properties. They have treated nearly every ailment that can plague the human body, from digestive
problems to diabetes to cancer, and it is no surprise that more and more people are turning back to this age-old natural
treatments to restore their health and well-being."

Brazil Facing New, More Contagious Mutation of Crippling African Virus
Frances Martel
Jan. 2, 2015
"Chikungunya, a virus hailing from Africa and spreading rapidly in the Caribbean and South America earlier this year,
may have just become an even bigger problem for Brazil, just as that nation’s summer is set to begin.
The virus, which spreads through mosquitoes, causes painful joint pain. In fact, its name means “that which bends up” in
Makonde, a southeastern African language, referring to its effect on a person’s limbs. It has currently only spread in the
Caribbean, Florida, and Texas through a mosquito known as Aedes aegypti, a native Egyptian species that is uncommon
in colder temperatures and particularly in the United States."

Somewhere over the...MOONBOW? Stunning phenomenon captured on camera
Sarah Ann Harris
Jan. 2, 2015
"The stunning but rare natural phenomenon occurs at night rather than in the daytime and cannot be fully seen with the
naked eye.
This amazing lunar rainbow was caught on camera near Hutton Magna, County Durham, last night.
The spectacular occurrence takes place when the moon's light is reflected and refracted off water droplets in the air.
They are rarer than rainbows because conditions have to be just right to create one.
The moon must be full – or almost full – and very low in the sky, now more than 42 degrees from the horizon.
The photographer who captured the beautiful sight could only see a low arch of light, shaped like a rainbow."

Ice likely caused AirAsia crash, Indonesia agency says
Adek Berry
Jan. 4, 2015
"PANGKALAN BUN (Indonesia) (AFP) - Weather was the "triggering factor" in the crash of AirAsia Flight 8501 with icing
likely causing engine damage, Indonesian officials said, as rough seas Sunday hampered the search for more bodies and
wreckage.
The Airbus A320-200 crashed into the Java Sea on December 28 carrying 162 people from Indonesia's second city
Surabaya to Singapore. Searchers are hunting for the "black box" flight data recorders to determine the cause of the
crash.
An initial report on the website of Indonesia's meteorological agency BMKG suggested the weather at the time the plane
went down sparked the disaster after it appeared to fly into storm clouds.
"Based on the available data received on the location of the aircraft's last contact, the weather was the triggering factor
behind the accident," said the report, which referred to infra-red satellite pictures showing peak cloud temperatures of
minus 80 to minus 85 degrees Celsius at the time.
"The most probable weather phenomenon was icing which can cause engine damage due to a cooling process. This is
just one of the possibilities that occurred based on the analysis of existing meteorological data," the report said.
It remained unclear why other planes on similar routes were unaffected by the weather, and other analysts said there
was not yet enough information to explain the disaster.
"It's irrelevant to make an assumption on the cause of the crash as we haven't found the black boxes yet," former air
force commander Chappy Hakim told AFP."

@ Orion, yes, me too. Believe it will happen and it will.
@ Blue ET would be wonderful
@ Shawn1272 you are most welcome, it was truly a surreal and wonderful experience.
One night we were in chat, and excused ourselves to go outside for a few. I got outside first and soon he joined me. As
I sat there I could hear waiting and landdownunder chatting a bit from the computer in my room, and didn't think a
thing about it. A few minutes after Acolyte joined me, we heard this rooster crow. We wondered where the heck that
came from and about that time we realized it had to be landdownunder's rooster, that we were hearing from her mic
in the chat room. We started to chuckle about it, because this is just not a sound you are going to hear in the bush.
Just about then, we heard this very puzzled sounding voice from the top of the stairs, calling to Acolyte. Our host told
us they had thought they heard a chicken, and it sounded so real. We explained that the rooster was in Australia and
coming to them from the chat room on my computer. So now we call landdownunder's rooster, the world famous
rooster, because it's been heard crowing all the way from Australia to South Africa.
At night it's very quiet, and sound travels on the moisture in the air. It seemed as though every night at the same time
the wind would come up, then it would sprinkle for a little while and quit. It is very obvious that good hard rain was
needed just about everywhere, as the watering holes in Kruger are also drying up as are many of the smaller
streams. However several nights, as we sat there, there was thunder and lightning also. One night though,
the thunder/lightning started, and it was close. All of a sudden, out of the blue, a streak of lightning, and a clap of
thunder so loud it scared the bejesus out of me happened, and somehow I got from my chair to the door in less than
the blink of an eye. I could not begin to tell you how I got past the little green stools we had sitting there for our
drinks, Acolyte sitting in his chair, or anything else without touching a thing on the way to the door. We were without
electricity at the time, and were using flashlights to light our way. I was cautioned to wait until my way could be lit
into the house, because it was very dark. Heck I would have been half way to the room if I hadn't stopped. LOL
Teleportation LOL, only thing that makes sense. LOL
In the pictures below, you will see the Crocodile River Bridge and water, you will also see one of a sign post. This is
located at the Crocodile River Bridge entrance into Kruger Park. I got a picture of it this time, because last time I
didn't, and it has significance for me because I ran smack dab into it the last time I was there. That little bar you see at
the bottom caught me right on the forehead above my eyes. Whack! Got my attention real quick like. Yes, I'm short,
LOL, and how I ran into it, I will never know, because of course, I knew it was there. That is not the best part though,
this time a picture was taken of me standing beside the sign, as I've developed an affinity for it, and as I turned to
walk away, I gently bumped my head on it yet again. LOL. Don't ask me, I haven't a clue as to how that is even
possible.
You will also see a picture of two huge water buffalo, that appear to be walking right down the road, beside our
vehicle. That's because they are huge, and they are walking down the road right beside us. The vehicle we were
in, was NOT small and their size is obvious as they walk past. One thing we noticed this time, was that we saw a lot
of the animals right next to the road, or very close to it. The last time, it was giraffes everywhere, this time it was
elephants everywhere. There appears to be way too many elephants for this particular section of Kruger. Their ability
to be destructive is evident everywhere. There were good sized trees broken off several feet from the ground, or
totally pulled out of the ground by the roots. One day as we were driving along, we heard the trumpeting of an
elephant and then the loud cracks as he broke a tree up. Needless to say, no one wants to take a chance of hanging
around, in case the elephant decides to come barreling out of the brush and onto the road. He was probably not 50 ft.
from us, at the time. I will say this however, if you ever hear an angry elephant in the wild, trumpet, it is not a sound
you will forget easily. Quite impressive really.
When you safari with Acolyte, he plans his exact route out ahead of time. No running aimlessly through Kruger. He
knows exactly where he is going, and by using which roads he is going to get there, and he doesn't take chances. So
with that in mind, imagine my surprise when he advised me to look at the road in front of us, and I see this mountain
of an elephant charging right down the middle of it towards us. He was picking up and putting down those feet in a
very quick pace. His tusks looked to be about 6 feet in length and he was booking along right smart like. His trunk
was flipping right to left and left to right, and those ears were flapping front to back to front, in rhythm with his feet.
Needless to say, this dirt road was about one lane or so wide, and this animal had his share right out of the middle. So
we stop, he kept on coming, getting closer, we back up, stop to watch what he's going to do. He keeps on coming, we
back up, stop again. It was at this point that I believe I reminded Acolyte about those you tube videos regarding
elephants/cars. LOL We look, he is still coming, we back up again and stop. We had been backing down an incline,
and at this point, we lost sight of him. Ha Ha Soooo, we sit there watching, both wondering if he'd gone off road and
was going to surprise us by coming out of the bush to our side. Heck no! Just about then we see that massive head
pop up over the trees, at the top of that incline we'd just backed down, here he was just plain flat out trotting
towards us again and getting closer. At this point, the bakkie was turned around. We went forward now another 1/4
mile or so, stopped again and watched him In the side view mirrors. Just as Acolyte starting videoing him through
the mirror, the elephant took off the side of the road, and headed towards a watering hole we'd passed. Throughout
this whole adventure, we had to have retreated at least one km. total, possibly more. I might add that we both had
the ability to video, or take pictures, however neither did so. Every time we retreated and waited, that elephant kept
getting too close too fast for me to worry about video taping. It seemed I no sooner picked up the device, than we
had to back up again. I am sure a face on video would have shown his true size. However I seriously doubt the
memory will ever go away, as all I have to do is think about it, to experience it all over again. So then we managed to
turn back around and save the planned route for the day, and a little way down the road, there was a pair of rhinos,
with a baby, right close to the road. I couldn't help but think, here we go again, as the one was looking right at us.
Below, find pictures of the Crocodile River Bridge, the infamous sign, the two water buffalo and of course, the other
animals. I hope you enjoy.

Atlantis' Legendary Metal Found in Shipwreck
Rosella Lorenzi
Jan. 6, 2015
A team of divers recovered nearly 40 ingots off the sea floor near Siciliy, from a ship that was lost in the sixth
century. SUPERINTENDENT OF THE SEA OFFICE, SICILY
"Gleaming cast metal called orichalcum, which was said by Ancient Greeks to be found in Atlantis, has
been recovered from a ship that sunk 2,600 years ago off the coast of Sicily.
The lumps of metal were arriving to Gela in southern Sicily, possibly coming from Greece or Asia
Minor. The ship that was carrying them was likely caught in a storm and sunk just when it was about to
enter the port.

"The wreck dates to the first half of the sixth century," Sebastiano Tusa, Sicily's superintendent of the Sea
Office, told Discovery News. "It was found about 1,000 feet from Gela's coast at a depth of 10 feet."
He noted that the 39 ingots found on the sandy sea floor represent a unique finding.
"Nothing similar has ever been found," Tusa said. "We knew orichalcum from ancient texts and a few
ornamental objects."
Indeed orichalcum has long been considered a mysterious metal, its composition and origin widely
debated.
According to the ancient Greeks, it was invented by Cadmus, a Greek-Phoenician mythological character.
The fourth century B.C. Greek philosopher Plato made orichalcum a legendary metal when he mentioned
it in the Critias dialogue."

Ancient Amulet Discovered with Palindrome Inscription
BY
OWEN JARUS, LIVESCIENCE
Jan. 1, 2015
The amulet contains a Greek inscription, 59 letters long, which reads the same backwards as it does forwards, a
feature known as a palindrome. The three letters at the very bottom, were squeezed in and are hard to read. The
amulet is about 1.4 inches by 1.6 inches (34.9 millimeters by 41.2 millimeters) in size. The inscription translates as “Iahweh is
the bearer of the secret name, the lion of Re secure in his shrine.” Although the translation doesn’t read as a palindrome,
the original ancient Greek text does.PHOTO BY MARCIN IWAN, ARTIFACT FROM THE EXCAVATIONS OF JAGIELLONIAN UNIVERSITY IN KRAKOW AT

"An ancient, two-sided amulet uncovered in Cyprus contains a 59-letter inscription that reads the same
backward as it does forward.
Archaeologists discovered the amulet, which is roughly 1,500 years old, at the ancient city of Nea Paphos
in southwest Cyprus.
One side of the amulet has several images, including a bandaged mummy (likely representing the Egyptian
god Osiris) lying on a boat and an image of Harpocrates, the god of silence, who is shown sitting on a stool
while holding his right hand up to his lips. Strangely, the amulet also displays a mythical dog-headed
creature called a cynocephalus, which is shown holding a paw up to its lips, as if mimicking Harpocrates'
gesture."

Thursday, January 1, 2015, 8:43 AM - People living near the Popocatepetl volcano in Mexico had an
explosive New Year's celebration.
The volcano had almost 30 eruptions in less than 24 hours, according to the latest update.
People within 10 km have been asked by Mexican officials to evacuate their homes
The Centre for Disaster Prevention released a press release on Wednesday where they said that the volcano had
erupted 28 times and released smoke more than 450 times. At least five strong tremors were also felt in the area.

Colima volcano activity puts Mexican authorities on alert
Jan. 5, 2015
The Colima volcano in western Mexico is continuing to produce emissions that have put civil
protection authorities in the states of Jalisco and Colima on alert, and they are not ruling out
undertaking a possible evacuation of local residents if the situation worsens, officials said
Monday.
The head of the Civil Protection and Firefighters Unit in Jalisco state, Trinidad Lopez Rivas,
said at a press conference that "the evacuation of the people (will be undertaken) if it's
necessary," that is, if there is an event involving the volcano that is more serious than what
has occurred so far.

"The volcano, the highest mountain in the Kamchatka peninsula - Russia's Land of Fire and Ice - is active
again after one year's relative calm.
'The crater is filling up with fresh lava and volcano's activity is steadily growing. There is a
constant volcanic trembling, thermal anomaly and glow above the crater', said the Kamchatka
branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
There is a warning to aircraft flying at 6,000 metres altitude.
Klyuchevskaya Sopka, also known as Klyuchevskoi - which rises some 4,750 meters above the sea level - is
one of the planet's most active volcanoes. Its last active phase was from August to December 2013.
Increased seismic activity was noted from 19 December.
A small plume was detected from 2 January. A thermal anomaly is visible on satellite data and during clear
weather, glow can be seen from the summit at night."

"Many local Cape Verdeans have traveled to Chã das Caldeiras, a picturesque village
in the crater of a volcano on one the archipelago’s islands. It is renowned for its
homemade goat cheese and full-bodied wines.
Now they are rallying to help the 3,000 residents who had to be rescued from the area

“We just all feel horrible and sad,” said Veronica Rosario, 33, of Dorchester, who is
working with the United for Fogo initiative. “We’ve met the people who live there.. . .
A lot of them are family members and friends.”
Chã das Caldeiras, situated within the volcano’s crater, had been evacuated at the

Strong geomagnetic storm hits Earth
Jan. 7, 2015
By LUKE FUNK
NOAA Image
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) "The Space Weather Prediction Center issued a warning for a large geomagnetic storm on
Wednesday morning.
The NOAA organization said the primary areas that would be affected would be in the northern
portion of the northern hemisphere.
Some of the storm's potential effects were power system voltage irregularities, possible false
alarms triggered on security systems, and problems with GPS systems.
The storm could also impact spacecraft and cause orientation problems in satellites."

"UNEXPECTED GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A strong G3-class geomagnetic storm erupted during
the early hours of Jan. 7th, sparking bright auroras around Earth's poles. What happened? The
interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) near our planet tipped south, opening a crack in Earth's
magnetosphere. Solar wind poured in to fuel the strongest magnetic storm since Sept. 2014. NOAA
analysts believe the fluctuation in IMF is related to the arrival of a CME originally expected to miss
Earth."

BRIGHTENING, GORGEOUS COMET:
"Comet Lovejoy (C/2014 Q2) continues to brighten, and it can now be seen with the naked eye even
from light-polluted urban areas. Science journalist and longtime comet watcher Mariano Ribas
reports from the Planetario de Buenos Aires: "Last night, I could see Comet Lovejoy with my
unaided eyes in the sky of Buenos Aires. Barely, and only using averted vision. But I saw it!"
"Comparing the comet to nearby background stars, I estimate the comet's visual magnitude to be
about 4.2," he continues. "The comet was very bright with my 10x50 binoculars. Also, I could see a
hint of its tail. The comet's atmosphere (or 'coma') looks clearly gray/green, and it appears more
condensed than one week ago."
What is merely pleasing to the unaided eye transforms into something gorgeous in the focus of a
mid-sized telescope. Gerald Rhemann took this picture using a remotely-controlled 12-inch 'scope in
Farm Tivoli, Namibia:
The comet's blue tail is so long, only 1/3rd of it fits in the space provided above. The whole
thing stretches more than 7 million km from end to end."

11 North Texas Earthquakes In Around 27 Hours
Jan. 7, 2015
Jennifer Lindgren
"IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - North Texas has been rattled by 11 earthquakes in just over one day. The latest one
took place just before 10:00 a.m. and measured 2.7 in magnitude. Another quake about 90 minutes earlier
registered in at a 2.6 in magnitude.
There have been 12 total small earthquakes in the DFW area so far this year, all centered around the old
Texas Stadium site in Irving. While none of the tremors have been particularly strong, they have caused a
lot of concern about what to do if a big quake does strike.
The most damage reported on Tuesday and Wednesday included cracks in walls and ceilings, or personal
items falling from walls or shelves. But even this has residents calling their insurance agents, wanting to
know if earthquake damage is covered in their policies.
State Farm stated that earthquake damage is considered an endorsement on the policy, one that
homeowners in North Texas do not likely have. However, insurance agents can easily add earthquake
coverage to policies, and it is generally not very expensive in North Texas — an average of $10 per month.
That is a step that many people in the DFW area are now opting to take.
The strongest Irving earthquake was a 3.6 in magnitude, happening early Tuesday evening. Seismologists
stated that it takes a magnitude of 4.0 to start really seeing damages."

"Washington (AFP) - US-led aircraft have dropped nearly 5,000 bombs in the air war against Islamic
State jihadists in Iraq and Syria, damaging or destroying more than 3,000 targets including tanks,
the Pentagon said Wednesday
The latest figures released by the US military signal a steady expansion in the scale of the air
campaign launched in August and also reveal an adversary with hundreds of armored and other
sophisticated vehicles at its disposal.
Since coalition air raids started in Iraq in August and in Syria in late September, US and allied
aircraft have struck 58 tanks, 184 Humvee armored vehicles, 303 pickup trucks, 26 armored vehicles
and 394 other vehicles, according to statistics from the Pentagon.
Most of the vehicles, many of them US made, had been seized by IS fighters from the retreating Iraqi
army.
US military officers could not say how many of the targets were damaged or destroyed but
spokesman Colonel Steven Warren told reporters: "I'm confident the destruction level is high."
It also remained unclear how many tanks or other vehicles the IS group still has in its arsenal after
the air raids."

Signs Ebola may be leveling off in Sierra Leone: WHO
Jan. 7, 2015
By Stephanie Nebehay and James Harding Giahyue
"GENEVA/MONROVIA (Reuters) - Sierra Leone, the country worst affected by Ebola, reported nearly
250 new confirmed cases in the past week but the spread of the virus there may be slowing, the
World Health Organization said on Wednesday.
The epidemic has taken 8,235 lives out of 20,747 known cases worldwide over the past year, it said.
Overall, 838 health workers have been infected, killing 495 of them.
The WHO's weekly report was based on figures reported by authorities in nine countries. Guinea,
Liberia and Sierra Leone account for the majority of infections and fatalities.
"There are signs that case incidence may have leveled off in Sierra Leone, although with 248 new
confirmed cases reported in the week to 4 January 2015, it remains by far the worst-affected country
at present," the WHO said."

Is Senator John McCain involved with ISIS funding?
Jan. 8, 2015
World News Tomorrow
"The Syrian government on Tuesday , January the 6th 2015 accused U.S. Senator John McCain, former
French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner and two others of entering the country illegally during 2014.
Syria’s U.N. Ambassador Bashar Ja’afari said in identical letters to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the
Security Council circulated Tuesday that McCain, Kouchner, former Kuwaiti Parliament member Walid alTabtaba’i and former U.S. ambassador to Croatia Peter Galbraith are among the prominent figures and
journalists who violated Syria’s sovereignty by entering the country without visas.
The biggest problem comes when several verified photos emerged with Senator John McCain and with ISIS
Chief Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi (circled left) and terrorist Muahmmad Noor (circled right) now heavily
developing ISIS footprint in the west.
“The question is, was it talks with Syrian rebels as previously sought or was it business as usual with ISIS.“
It’s pretty bad when Al Arabiya, a Muslim Middle East newspaper, makes fun of a statement that one can
identify the “good guys” in Syria, however, it is another to get caught in the middle of funding, being filmed,
and photographed with the ISIS terrorist organization.
Nobody knew at the time, when this pictures were taken, how big the ISIS epidemic was about to become,
but one thing is certain, some ‘high up the ladder’ knew what was cooking in the pot. Senator McCain
involvement with the CIA is not new and backdates a long time. It is hardly to believe that his presence was
without some kind of support in Syria."

Charlie Hebdo False Flag Story Goes Viral
Jan. 8, 2015
Kevin Barrett, Veterans Today Editor
"False Flag Weekly News just finished a special report on the Charlie Hebdo spectacular in Paris:
Also check out the links to the stories we covered.
I also did a special radio show on Charlie Hebdo, including a verbal battle with neocon propagandist Patrick
Poole.
Whenever something like this happens, it keeps people like me really, really busy.
It took me about five minutes to figure out that the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris was probably a false flag.
So I whipped out a quick blog entry that went viral (almost 15,000 reads in 24 hours). Et voila:
Paris "Charlie Hebdo Attack;" Another Zionist False Flag?
Truth Jihad Blog
Just one month ago, France set off a stampede when its lower house voted to recognize Palestine. Now
Palestine is in the International Criminal Court, poised to take down Israel for genocide.
Suddenly “Islamic terror strikes France.” Is Paris being punished for its pro-Palestine vote?
In late 2013, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Tribunal found Israel guilty of genocide. A few months later,
Malaysian planes started falling out of the sky.
In 2011, Norway’s Labor Party’s youth wing was poised to impose a complete blockade on Israel. Suddenly
the entire leadership of the Party’s youth wing was slaughtered in a professional operation falsely attributed
to a lone nut, Anders Breivik.
snip
One thing I missed in the original blog post: The timing of the Charlie Hebdo event was suspicious, not only
because itclosely followed Netanyahu’s threat that France was making a grave mistake by supporting
Palestinian statehood andunleashed pre-scripted Zionist talking points against France’s pro-Palestine
position……But also because the Zionists are panicking at the success of European anti-New-World-Order
parties in general, and the French Marine LePen/Alain Soral/Dieudonné contingent in particular. This event
looks like it was orchestrated to use against Soral and Dieudonné, who had been obscenely attacked in
Charlie Hebdo right before the big false flag. Shortly after the Charlie Hebdo news broke, Zionist assets
were already tweeting attacks on Soral and Dieudonné as if they were reading from the same pre-scripted
list of talking points.Of the many suspicious bits of forensic evidence that Charlie Hebdo was a false flag,
one of the most striking was the news that one of the alleged terrorists supposedly dropped his ID card at
the scene of the crime! (Shades of Satam al-Suqami’s “magic passport” planted near the WTC rubble on
9/11.)
Then there are the video anomalies. Videos of the supposed execution-style slaying of a police officer don’t
feature the blood or blast effects one would expect. VT Editor Gordon Duff has cited ballistics experts who
say footage of AK47 rounds supposedly hitting concrete with no visible effect, while the reports lack the
echo of life fire bullets."

Is Any Story Evil Enough?
Preston James
Jan. 9, 2015
Is any story evil enough that the Controlled Major Mass Media will refuse to suppress it ?
At this time the definitive answer to this question is a resounding and deafening “NO”. How could this be you might
ask?
Certainly if the Reporters came to their Editor with an incredibly evil story, a completely verified
story that young children were being sex-trafficked to Washington DC and used for pedophile sex
for some of the top DC Politicians and elites at a special party house, certainly this story would be
bad enough to warrant coverage?
Sadly. even such an incredibly evil story as this, a story of Evil Beyond Normal Imagination, the
answer to this question is still a resounding and deafening “NO”.
Why is this so? The unexpected but true answer is that the CMMM is owned and completely
controlled by a very large Organized Crime Syndicate aka the Organized Crime Cabal (OCC). And
this OCC also control the Congress, the Judiciary most of the USG, the FBI, and at least half of
American Intel including the CIA and about half of the Military, excluding the High Command and
most of the Navy.
The Franklin Credit Union Pedophile/child kidnapping/sex trafficking/honey pot entrapment
operations of the CIA.
This Franklin Credit Union story is an excellent example of how the CMMM will suppress any story
no matter how evil in order to preserve the power of their controllers, the Top Policy-Makers of the
very large worldwide Organized Crime Syndicate.
Many refer to this Syndicate as the Organized Crime Cabal (OCC) and Intel Insiders and astute
investigative journalists have attributed the OCC directly responsible for all World Terrorism.
The fact is that Veterans Today Senior Editor and Managing Director Gordon Duff was the first top
Intel Official to ever proclaim this publicly, a proclamation which has sent and is still sending major
shock-waves around the World."

Just As The Islamic State (ISIL) Gets Exposed As A Fake US Enemy, A “Wag the Dog” Terrorist Attack in Paris?
January 8, 2015
By Joachim Hagopian
"With information just breaking that the United States has been air dropping arms, food and
medical supplies to Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) forces in Iraq, supposedly the world’s
latest terrorist enemy on steroids, what has been suspected all along is now being confirmed.
To add fuel to the fire, this news comes just as warmonger Senator McCain got busted for secretly
and illegally entering Syria to meet with ISIL to coordinate strategy on that warfront.
Clearly the ISIL is an ally to the US government in both Iraq and Syria. The command headquarters
operating out of the US Embassy in Baghdad has been overseeing the US military airdrops of war
supplies to our purported latest enemy in various provinces throughout Iraq. Back in October the
US lied about an accidental dropping of supplies that went to the Islamic State jihadists instead of to
the Kurds. The strategy in Iraq is to prolong the “war” against ISIL in order to ensure
that permanent US military bases there get established, something recently deposed Iraqi
President Maliki refused. It wasn’t so much Maliki’s poor leadership that spearheaded persecution
and killing of so many Sunnis during his reign of terror that caused Washington to finally pull the
plug on him. It was his kicking Americans out of his country entirely at the end of 2011 that
brought his US orchestrated removal from power several months ago.
Just as the US Empire created al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden back in the 80’s to finish off
the Russians in Afghanistan, then backed al Qaeda’s ethnic cleansing of Serbs in Kosovo
and Bosnia, paving the way for bin Laden to play the heavy in collusion by Saudi-Israeli assistance
to pull off the coup d’etat of the century on 9/11, it all became false pretext to wage permanent
war on terror.
Now that the US government has torn the Middle East asunder into multiple war ravaged failed
states, with these latest revelations coming out of Iraq, the US cover has been completely blown –
ISIL turns out to be just another axis-of-evil Empire creation by the US-Israeli-Saudi
governments. Based on these latest on the ground accounts filtering in through Iranian and Iraqi
intelligence sources, those previous reports from months ago on how the United States was
covertly financing and training this “new and improved” brand of Islamic State terrorism again
created by the US turns out to be absolutely true."

Russia and China: The Dawning of a New Monetary System?
January 9, 2014
By Peter Koenig
The statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on 22 December 2014: “If the Russian side
needs it, we will provide necessary assistance within our capacity” – is a clear testimony that
Russia and China have entered into an economic alliance which will be stronger than the incessant
ruble and petrol devaluation manipulations by Washington, aided by the European puppets.
China, leading member of the BRICS, is lining up the bloc of the BRICS and that of the SCO – and
their currencies – to support Russia in need. Currency swaps between Russia (ruble) and China
(yuan) for an initial US$ 25 billion equivalent have already been implemented, to allow direct
transactions between the two countries. Similar swaps are under way between China and Russia
with other countries, primarily the BRICS and the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization)
members – including the soon to become new members – Iran, Pakistan, India (also a BRICS
member) and Mongolia – and possibly in some not too distant future also strategically located NATO
member Turkey.
In other words, a large junk of hydrocarbons will as of immediately no longer be traded in US (petro)
dollars, but in rubles and yuans and their partners respective local currencies. This will reduce
worldwide demand for the petro dollar.
The US is able to maintain pressure on other currencies, currently the ruble, only as long as the
petro dollar remains the major world reserve currency. This is the main reason why Washington
gets away with a seven-fold indebted dollar (i.e. total outstanding and uncovered commitments are
currently more than 7 times higher than the US GDP (US$ 17.6 trillion, 2014 est. – vs. US$ 128 trillion
of unmet obligations); making the US worldwide the most indebted country – by far.
Once the demand for the (petro) dollar fades – as hydrocarbons are no longer dealt in dollars – the
value of the dollar will decline and at worst may result in hyperinflation in the dollar economies,
including those closely linked to the US economy."

Al-qaida Member in Yemen Says Group Directed Paris Attack
Jan. 9, 2015
CAIRO—Al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula directed the attack against the French satirical magazine
Charlie Hebdo in Paris “as revenge for the honor” of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, a member of the
group told The Associated Press on Friday.
At least one of the two brothers involved in the attack travelled to Yemen in 2011 and either received
training from or fought alongside the group, according to U.S. and Yemeni officials. A U.S.
intelligence assessment described to the AP shows that Said Kouachi was trained in preparation to
return home and carry out an attack.
If confirmed, the attack would be the first time al-Qaida’s branch in Yemen has successfully carried
out an operation in the West after at least two earlier attempts.
“The leadership of AQAP directed the operations and they have chosen their target carefully as
revenge for the honor of the prophet,” the al-Qaida member said in an English statement. He said
France was targeted “because of its obvious role in the war on Islam and oppressed nations.”

MYSTERIOUS BOOMS RATTLE HOMES, SCARE LIVESTOCK IN OKLAHOMA
Jan. 9, 2015
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- A spate of mysterious booms that has been shaking central Oklahoma returned for a
second day Friday, again rattling houses and frightening livestock.
Oklahoma Geological Survey research seismologist Austin Holland said a series of booms, much like a sonic boom,
rattled the Norman area starting at 11:19 a.m. Friday. Numerous others had been reported Thursday in the same
area at about the same time.
Friday's booms weren't "quite as frequent" as Thursday's, Holland said. "It's quite interesting."
The windows of Anthony Young's home in the town that's the outskirts of Oklahoma City rattled. "We thought
some nut was out here, you know, with explosives," Young told KOCO-TV. "It sounded like thunder, you could feel
the ground shake, but it was nothing like an earthquake"

NYC Health Officials Warn of Increase in Bronx Cases of Severe, Potentially Deadly Form of
Pneumonia
Jan.9, 2015
"City health officials are warning New Yorkers about an increase in cases of
Legionnaire's disease, a potentially deadly form of pneumonia, in the Bronx.
Eleven cases of the disease were reported in the Bronx in December, compared with two
in December 2013 and three in December 2012. The 11 cases reported last month
represent nearly 20 percent of the total of 61 cases the borough had in all of 2014. Most
cases were in the northeast Bronx.
Legionnaire's disease is caused by exposure to the bacteria Legionella, an aquatic
organism that grow in warm environments. People are exposed to it by inhaling
contaminated aerosols from cooling towers, whirlpool spas, showers and faucets or
drinking water contaminated with the bacteria."

Rhinoviruses are spectacularly effective at infecting humans. Americans suffer one
billion colds a year, and rhinoviruses are the leading cause of these
infections.Scientists have never been sure why they are so effective, but now a team at
Yale University may have found a clue.
The scientists argue that rhinoviruses have found a blind spot in the human immune
system: They take advantage of the cold air in our noses.
In the 1960s, researchers first noticed that if they incubated rhinoviruses a few
degrees below body temperature, the viruses multiplied much faster. It was an
intriguing finding, since rhinoviruses often infect the lining of the nostrils, which are
cooled by incoming air.
In subsequent years, scientists searched for an explanation. “People have taken the
virus apart and studied its parts,” said Akiko Iwasaki, an immunobiologist at Yale.
“But none of this really added up to explain why the virus replicated faster at a lower
temperature.”

Harsh Respiratory Virus Hitting Colorado
Warner Todd Huston
Jan. 8, 2015
"Colorado is being hit with a rise in cases of upper respiratory illness this year, and doctors are warning that without
treatment, patients could suffer for weeks once they’ve contracted the virus.
Dr. John Torres, Medical contributor for KUSA in Denver, says that hospitals in
Colorado are seeing a higher than normal number of cases of a virulent flu that starts
out like a common cold but lingers for weeks once taking hold.
“After a few weeks, in some people, it can turn into more of a bacterial infection
because their immune system has been suppressed a little bit, which is when we will
move in with some antibiotics,” Torres told Channel 9 News. “But for the most part,
it’s just the common cold virus that floats around this time of year, but it lingers for a
long time.”

26 children have died from flu as outbreak widens
Liz Szabo
Jan. 9, 2015
Flu is now widespread in 46 states and has killed 26 children, health officials said today.
"This year is shaping up to be a bad one, particularly for people 65 and older," says
Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Children
younger than 5 are also at high risk of hospitalization, particularly babies under 6
months, who are too young to be vaccinated.
Flu is hitting the USA especially hard this year for two reasons.\
First, the dominant flu strain in circulation is H3N2, a type that tends to cause twice
as many hospitalizations and deaths as other strains of flu, Frieden says.
Hospitalization rates have risen to 92 per 100,000 people, compared with 52
hospitalizations per 100,000 in a typical year.
"H3N2 is a nastier flu virus than other flu viruses," Frieden says. "Hospitalization
rates in the over-65 age group are rising."

19 Measles Cases Reported With Ties to Disney Theme Parks
Jan. 9, 2015
Amy Taxin
"Nineteen people from three states who visited Disney theme parks in California last month have now
fallen ill with measles, health officials said Friday.
The patients all visited Disneyland or Disney California Adventure between Dec. 15 and Dec. 20, the
California Department of Public Health and the Orange County Health Agency said.
Sixteen of the cases were in California, two in Utah, and one is in Colorado, officials said.
Officials in California said that of the 16 cases in the state they have only verified that two were fully
vaccinated against the disease. Some were partially vaccinated and at least two were too young to
be vaccinated.
More people may have been exposed when measles patients were treated at two local hospitals and
a lab, said Nicole Stanfield, a spokeswoman for the Orange County's health care agency. Stanfield
urged anyone with measles symptoms to call their doctor before seeking medical attention to avoid
exposing others to the highly contagious illness."

Nordic countries point the way to cashless societies
By Rebecka Roos and Alister Doyle
Jan. 9, 2015
STOCKHOLM/OSLO (Reuters) - Nordic countries are leading a shift by rich nations towards cashless
societies, providing a test case for whether the lower cost and convenience of using cards and smartphones
for payments outweigh the risks of fraud and some people being left behind.
Helped by wide use of computers even among the elderly, broad trust in the state and big business and only
small black economies, people in Sweden and neighboring countries are fast embracing cards, the Internet
and apps for financial transactions, and forsaking notes and coins.
"We are headed more and more for a cashless society," said Jan Digranes, a director at Finance Norway,
which represents banks and other financial institutions.
Sweden, home of music streaming firm Spotify and the Candy Crush mobile phone game, ranks top in the
European Union for card payments, with 230 transactions per inhabitant in 2012, just above Denmark and
Finland and well ahead of Britain on 167, Germany 39 and Italy 28, according to the European Central
Bank."

My daughter’s life altering changes after Gardasil
January 7. 2015
By Shanna DeJaynes, Okay Oklahoma
"My daughter lives a Gardasil nightmare. Our family has suffered along with her for almost three years. I refuse to be silent
any longer. I share my daughter’s story as a warning to others – Gardasil is not safe for everyone – please, don’t make the
same mistake we did.
At 13 years old my daughter, Breanna DeJaynes, was involved in volleyball, basketball and cheerleading at school. She was
very outgoing and not shy to make new friends at all. She was a good student, hardly ever missed school and got good
grades. She was on the honor roll for several years in a row. Breanna was very active both in and out of school. I could
hardly keep her inside; when she wasn’t out practicing or in the classroom, she was with her friends. In short, Breanna was a
healthy, happy, all-American girl before Gardasil.
She received her first HPV vaccine injection in April of 2011. Within a couple of days she started having some mild symptoms
like dizziness, headaches, cramps in both her legs and arms, passing out, getting over heated easily and complaining that
the arm she had the injection in was achy at times.
Every time something happened we would take her to the doctor. If it happened at school they would call 911 and have EMS
come and rush her to the hospital (it was school policy to call 911 whenever something happened at a school-sponsored
event).
We were always told she was just overdoing it with her sports, she had just hyperventilated, or that she had stood up too fast,
or she had taken too hot a bath or shower, got overheated, wasn’t drinking enough water, was dehydrated and so on. We
were told everything under the sun. The possibility that her new symptoms could be related to the HPV vaccine never
crossed my mind at the time.
As the weeks passed her symptoms continued to get worse. She received her second Gardasil injection in June or July of
2011 and things got worse than before. Her headaches got so severe she couldn’t even stand to be in light, it would make
her nauseous. The headaches were always in the same spot on her head in the frontal lobe. Her leg and arm cramps got
worse, passing out continued, then she started having seizures both with and without memory loss, at times forgetting her
friends, family and so on."

Bombshell Proof! Hillary paid Amnesty International to prepare coup d'etat!
Jan., 7, 2015
By Kevin Barrett, Veterans Today Editor, with a report from Thomas C. Mountain
US taxpayers looted to destroy sovereign nations
As the American people slide deeper into bankruptcy, their government continues to spend billions
to overthrow foreign governments and destabilize or destroy foreign nations. Victoria Nuland’s
confession that US taxpayers had contributed 5 billion dollars to overthrow the democraticallyelected Ukrainian government, and incite a civil war designed to destroy that country, was just the
tip of the iceberg.
And it gets worse. We now have smoking-gun proof that the State Department under Hillary Clinton
corrupted the world’s biggest human rights organization, Amnesty International, by paying it to
conduct ultra-secret CIA-style destabilization operations to pave the way for a coup d’état in Eritrea.
That means Amnesty International (AI), a self-styled “human rights” organization, is actually a
covert arm of the New World Order effort to enslave the world and put an end to anything remotely
resembling human rights. These people won’t be satisfied until every human is microchipped at
birth and subjected to remote-control torture every time their thoughts even begin to turn against
Big Brother.
Memo to AI: If you really support human rights, you should be waging an all-out war against the New
World Order and its Euro-American bankster puppets, using every weapon at your disposal. And
you should be willing to give your life to defend the independence of countries like Eritrea.
From now on, anyone working for AI should be assumed to be a covert NWO intelligence agent
aimed at destroying whatever nation they’re operating in. And they should be treated as such.
Many Americans would be hard-pressed to find Eritrea on a map. But the small African country
occupies a critically-important geostrategic location: the spot where the Red Sea meets the Indian
Ocean. Even more important, Eritrea has set an example for other African countries by insisting on
independence from the US-bankster empire.
Listen to me interviewing journalist André Vltchek on why the banksters want to overthrow Eritrea
and install yet another US-puppet regime
So far, the people of Eritrea have successfully resisted the bankster empire’s efforts to enslave
them. Let’s hope and pray they continue to succeed in 2015!

#85969 12 dead in attack on Paris newspaper - France goes on alert

The Terror Attacks in France. The Broader Geopolitical Implications
Umberto Pascali, Global Research
January 10, 2015
Interview with Umberto Pascali – For Voice of the People, TV Sonce, Skipje, Macedonia
"Question: Mr. Pascali, an unprecedented drama is developing in France under our
eyes. After marked terrorists killed 12 people at the offices of the Charlie Hebdo, new
terrorist acts are striking France. Hostages have been taken in a Paris store after a
murder, two suspects are surrounded by the French police with the prospect of a long
siege.
Confusing and terrifying news are coming from the field and from the press wires. One
of the suspects for the Charlie Hebdo massacre give himself up to the police claiming to
have been in school at the moment of the massacre. The media report that the suspect
authors of the massacre have been for several years on a US and British Terrorist
Database and, thus, they were well known and had been even previously arrested. The
video of the terrorists killing a policemen in front of the Charlie Hebdo building, and the
scared reaction of the civilian population are creating the climate of what has been
called the European September 11. What is going on?
Pascali: There is no doubt, of course, we are in the middle of a terrorist operation. A
real terrorist operation has two aspects. First the actual act with people killed. But
second, and most important, the capability of terrorizing the targeted population. A
terrorist action is a tactic, a military tactic one can call it, that targeted a must larger
group than the immediate victims. The real target — beyond the men and women who
were cynically slaughtered, often under the eyes of the camera – is the population. To
terrorize the population and to blackmail the leadership of a country. The message for
the government is: You are not able to defend your people, we have taken over; now you
have to accept our conditions!
A terrorist act that does not reach – and affect — the vast public does not accomplish its
purpose. The purpose is to terrorize everybody, to terrorize us. One should be well
aware of this, keep one’s head cool and understand what’s really going on and who is
doing what to whom. Of course there is the element of un-clarity, of fear, of “how could
that happen? How could that happen in the center of Paris against an obvious terrorist
target with terrorists that were well known to the France, US, British security and
intelligence? How? What’s next?… In military text books this is called the “fog of war”
and it’s a great advantage to be able to provoke and hysterical or paralyzing reaction
in the adversary.
Question: You say the target is to “terrorize the population and to blackmail the
government.” What’s the purpose of all this?"

NEO - Something Strange About ISIS
Jan.3, 2015
Gordon Duff
To say that there is something strange about ISIS is perhaps
the understatement of all time. Can we call them “The Not
Very Islamic State?”
[ Editor’s Note: The news of our trip to the Syria-sponsored counter terrorism conference is flowing
around the corporate media blackout. NEO is well-read internationally now, in its second year, and
all the world Intel, diplomatic and military open source monitors read everything there.
More calls are coming in thanking us for our efforts to dial back on the insanity of the regime
change policy, where the massive damage from it to our national security far surpasses anything we
feared from Syria, which was really no threat at all.
It was on defense, as just about everybody else on America’s target list. This is so obvious to
strategic military people that when the definition of “threat” was morphed to include anyone who
could defend themselves from a US-Western attack, no one was surprised. It simply proved that
“they” knew no one was a serious threat to anyone, and that required moving the goal posts.
There is a growing consensus that both military and security people and budgets are being abused
on a large scale. The situation is so bad now there is talk of a bifurcated command where operations
can be run outside the real command structure under the maze of outside contractors doing Intel
work.
We talked to no one who is aware of any real supervision, and I mean on the ground… checking
paperwork, surveillance, to look for infiltration and co-option. The layering of the outsourced
contracting, when you take a close look at it, defeated the regular monitoring protocols. We would
bet that this was by design, and not by oversight.
One of the huge threats this exposes us to, is “bad Intel” being fed into the CIA and other security
orgs, which then goes into top command decisions. We have interceded in the process on several
occasions.
Our most famous was debunking the Syrian Army gas attacks in Aleppo, pinned on the intercepts of
calls between two Syrian Army officers and used as evidence for crossing Obama’s red line on
Assad using chemical weapons. Initially, the term “high confidence” was the strange term used to
blame the Syrians.
VT people were the source that it was a set up by the Israelis using an old Cold War tactic of
planting transmitters to broadcast calls knowing that they would be intercepted and passed up the
line as “proof”. This information was passed along to where it could be put to good use, and it
was… Jim W. Dean ]"
