Breezy Bochenek | San Ramon, CA Above Knee Amputee 15-year-old Breezy chose to amputate after being diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer, in 2011. To date, Breezy has competed in 5 triathlons as well as 3 San Diego Triathlon Challenge swims. She is passionate about triathlon, singing, and paying it forward! Sam Day | Portland, OR Below Knee Amputee Oregon native Sam Day sacrificed his left leg below the knee in his battle against bone cancer in 2011. The 15-year-old continues to be an avid surfer and took part in the World Adaptive Surf Championship surf clinic where he was presented a surfboard from pro’s all over the world. Kevin Messner | Phoenix, AZ Above Knee Amputee At 16-years-old, Kevin is already an experienced athlete and has qualified for the National Junior Disability Championships 3 years in a row in track and archery. He currently holds the national record for the 200m in the under 14 T42 classification. Kevin is also a budding triathlete and competes in his high school track and cross country teams. Hunter Pochop | Vista, CA Spina Bifida 10-year-old Hunter is a multi-sport athlete and has participated in surfing, WCMX, wheelchair basketball, track, and a multitude of other sports. Hunter recently placed 1st in the beginner division at the 2016 WCMX World Championships in Houston. Emma Mondragon | Oceanside, CA Spina Bifida 8-year-old Emma is known for two things: her blazing fast speed and her outgoing attitude! Having participated in a multitude of sports, Emma can be found keeping busy with dance, karate, wheelchair basketball, WCMX, snow skiing, or any other new sport she can get her hands on! Adrian Grajeda | Palm Desert, CA Below Knee Amputee 12-year-old Adrian lost his leg when a drunk driver crashed into him, but it hasn’t stopped him from being involved in soccer, his favorite sport. Adrian was also awarded CAF’s Rising Star award in 2014. Alex Henry | Sacramento, CA Above Knee Amputee 13-year-old Alex Henry was very active as a swimmer, equestrian, and soccer player. After sacrificing her left leg to Osteosarcoma, Alex kept her spirits high and continued to be involved in her passions. Alex dreams of competing as a professional equestrian. With her drive, anything is definitely possible! Riley Phelps | Oceanside, CA Cerebral Palsy 12-year-old Riley Phelps has a huge passion for action and has been an avid surfer, WCMX skater, and skier. She loves being involved and meeting new people and takes full advantage of every opportunity life has to offer. Angelo Sanchez | San Diego, CA Spina Bifida Angelo has lived his entire 7 year life with Spina Bifida. However, he is involved with more sports than most people have ever dreamed of, having tried 28 different ones and being actively involved in 14. His favorites include dancing, martial arts, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and WCMX. Angelo’s stamina, determination and happy disposition continue to provide the building blocks for a well rounded athlete. Cody Reid | Poway, CA Above Knee Amputee 7-year-old Cody was born with Tibial Hemimelia and had his right leg amputated at 8 months. Cody received his first prosthetic at a year old, and since then, he has been able to play tee ball and join his friends on the playground and soccer field at school. Cody continues to have a positive attitude and is constantly shown the world that he can do anything he puts his mind to. Sebastian Desposato | Encinitas, CA Achondroplasia Sebastian was born with achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism. He is an athlete and competed in the world dwarf games at just 4 years old and earned a gold medal and world record for his age category in swimming. Sebastian also loves mountain biking and soccer.
