Past… Present… Future…
October 2013 I recently had the pleasure of speaking to Girl Scout Troop 7286. These delightful girls asked some very good questions concerning how to run the City and the job of Mayor. I was able to share with them what it takes to be a leader and it was the same principles that they are learning and practicing...To serve God and my country and to help people at all times. I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous, strong and responsible for what I say and do, and to respect myself and others, respect authority, use resources wisely and make the world a better place. I encouraged them to always remember these, especially in difficult times, so that they will make the best decisions. Thank you GIRL SCOUT TROOP 7286 for your service to the Hallsville community! Other things that have been happening in the life of our community that I've been involved with was the National Night out at the Park. Super turn out. There was lots of good food and activities for the whole family. Thanks to the Hallsville Police Dept. and the Hallsville Volunteer Fire Dept. for hosting such an awesome event for the community. Western Days was, as always, so much fun. There was a good turn out Friday night for the 'street dance' with booths open for shopping, information and food. Saturday the booths were open early, the parade began at 10:00 with more activities following it. That evening was the annual Miss Hallsville pageant. Thank you Charlotte Anderson and the rest of the Western Days Committee for all your hard work making this a fun event for all. One of my goals for 2014 is to form a City Advisory Board made up of citizens who would like to help look into some short-term as well as long-range goals for our City. I would like a board of 15 or so. If you would like to serve or even to think about it, please shoot me an email with your name and contact information. Please include why you would be interested in serving and some of your background information if you have any experience along these lines. This is open to all citizens and the only requirements are that you love our City and want to help plan for the future. It is taking a while researching and coming up with guidelines so be patient. Before you make your final decision, we will meet; I will go over expectations and what is currently going as well as upcoming projects. As always, please 'friend/like' City of Hallsville and Hallsville Police Dept. on Facebook and look at our webpage, cityofhallsvilletx.com, for continual updates of the going-ons in the community. If ever you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 903-668-2313 (City Hall) or 903-806-4587 (cell). Past… Present… Future… Mailing Address: P.O. The City of Hallsville and the Hallsville Police Department would like to write one big check to the American Cancer Society because we have all been affected by Cancer. The Hallsville Community has set a very high standard for being Virtuous and a fantastic place to live. We are still a Norman Rockwell community and very few places can say that. The Hallsville Police Department feels that this is a fun and cooperative way for the Hallsville Community to show support for this outstanding organization. In the future, the Hallsville Police Department would like to expand this event and challenge neighboring police, fire and first responder agencies and other businesses too. Many of us have found memories of our childhood and all the cool stuff we used to do. Most of us are gearing up for our favorite holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or etc.). Another group of people who are gearing up that you NEED to be aware of is CRIMINALS. Yes, they love this time of year because the night is longer and the weather is cooler. This gives them the opportunity to run around in the dark for longer periods of time. Most of us are not out and about due to the cold so there are not as many eyes and ears around to give them away. Most CRIMINALS will look for easy targets (open or unlocked vehicles, houses, RVs, trailers, etc.). If they can run through your neighborhood and burglarize as many vehicles, houses, etc. in a short amount of time, then all the better for them. The Hallsville Police Department is urging it’s citizens and community to stay vigilant and lock up your vehicles, houses, RVs, trailers and other items. Do not allow yourself to be a victim. Please take pictures of your prized possessions and expensive items. Also, take pictures of your serial numbers on the items that have them. This will come in handy, trust me! Once you have compiled all your pictures and serials numbers, you may want to provide that information to your insurance company so they also have it on file. Your insurance company will thank you for them, as it will greatly assist them in their performance of services they provide you. The Hallsville Police Department will also be posting its Holiday Shopping Safety Suggestions as it did for the first time last year. FOOTBALL These are helpful and informative tips for you to remember and use during your holiday shopping trips to ensure a safe and fun experience. The Hallsville Police Department does not want anyone to have a heinous act committed against anyone, especially if it could have been prevented by some information and education. As always, the Hallsville Police Department would like to thank you for assistance and continued F.A.I.T.H. in your police department. Thank you. P.S. Please invite your family, friends and loved ones to join our Facebook page and our website, as we will continue to provide updates and pertinent information for our Amazing Community. https://www.facebook.com/HallsvillePolice http://cityofhallsvilletx.com/
