A. The Teen Brain, What’s Going On In There. The adolescent brain undergoes tremendous growth during
the teen years. Parents, educators, and therapists are often left stunned and confused by teen behavior.
Teens’ brains are changing during the adolescent years. The reaction from teens has been, “Would someone
please talk about this?” So, now we are.

B. A Prolonged Overview Of Exposure Therapy For Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (Ptsd). Participants will
be treated to a brief review of the efficacy of Prolonged Exposure for PTSD including contraindications for its
use, an overview of the main techniques, and outline of outpatient and intensive models for delivery.

C. Future Of Wellness Programs & Partnering With EAP. The wellness field is evolving and will look
considerably different in a few years. Wellness is evolving from being overly focused on physical well-being
and moving more toward a total well-being model. As the field evolves, new skills and theories are being
integrated from the field of psychology. Part of the upcoming evolution may create opportunities for the EAP
field to better partner and become integrated into the wellness field

A. “It’s Only A Nickel”. This workshop is designed to increase the awareness and knowledge of problem
and pathological gambling. Participants will understand the differences between gambling and problem
gambling and how gambling can affect the workplace. Participants will also learn to identify the different
types and groups of gamblers and will understand the phases/stages of compulsive gambling.

B. Returning Warrior Weekends – Helping Navy And Marines Reintegrate Into Civilian Life. This
presentation is a review of the processes and techniques used by the Yellow Ribbon Organization to assist
returning vets adjust to civilian life. Participants will gain a better understanding of the experiences of
returning vets, identify helpful resources for them and understand the Yellow Ribbon Organization and the
services it provides.

C. When Sexual Addiction Comes To Work – “EAP’s Role In Assessing And Linking Employees And/Or
Their Partners To Resources. This workshop will help participants identify signs and symptoms of sexually
compulsive behavior, how this behavior can impact workplace performance and how to asses and refer to
appropriate resources.

D. Current Trends In Marijuana Use And The Impact Of Legalization For Medical And Recreational Use.
This presenter will discuss how marijuana affects the body and the brain, including short and long term
effects. She will also discuss current statistics and research illustrating the effects of the drug and treatment
issues and strategies. The presenter will then discuss the changes in legislation across the country and the
impact of legalization for medical and recreational use.

A. Heroin And Prescription Pill Abuse. Detectives Metz and Davila will discuss commonly abused prescription
medication, physical and behavioral signs of opiate abuse, heroin use and paraphernalia along with opiate overdoses
and opiate treatment.

B. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). DBT was developed by Marsha Lineham and has become an effective
evidence-based type of therapy for many types of problems. DBT combines Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
with Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. This presentation will look at the history and structure of DBT.

C. Parent Coaching: An Innovative Way To Help With Challenging Child Behavior. Parents worrying about
their children’s behavior are not focused on work tasks. This session describes the rich content of Present
Moment Parenting and allows participants to learn strategies to effectively resolve bedtime, tantrums and
opposition. Participants will also learn the rationale behind parent coaching, gain insight into eliminating
the judge, blame, punish cycle and will learn the effectiveness of considering the physiological effects of
communication in the child’s body.

D. How To Assess The Need For Substance Use Disorder Using Services ASAM. This workshop will review
the American Society of Addiction medicine (ASAM) criteria, demonstrate improved identification of patient
needs and help participants recognize the key clinical indicators of proper level of care and how to initiate a
treatment plan.

C. Effect Of Major Financial Life Crisis On Workplace Productivity. This workshop will explore the effects of
life events, (divorce and death of spouse) on work productivity. In addition it will provide practical solutions
and tools for increasing productivity. Participants will learn to identify current and/or desired corporate
culture, recognize the five signs of financial stress and learn three practical tips for increasing productivity.
