Brighton i360 hoardings go up

BRIGHTON i360 HOARDINGS GO UP
Hoardings started going up around the Brighton i360 site today [August 7],
following the start of construction last week.
Five hundred square meters of ply board, each rising to 2.4 metres high, will
encircle the area, with half going up this month and the remainder of the hoarding
going up in October on completion of sewer diversion works.
Said Eleanor Harris, CEO of Brighton i360, "An estimated six million people a
year visit the Brighton beach and 11.5 million cars pass along the King’s Road;
with an audience as large as this, we don’t want to disappoint, so our local
design firm has come up with some exciting designs for us.
"Taking pride of place on the seafront will be a large image of the i360 pod. This
image is about one third of the actual pod size, which will be 18m wide, but will
give viewers a visual sense of things to come.
"We’re eager for Brighton’s residents and visitors to feel involved in the
construction process. So these hoardings don’t become a barrier, we will install
spy holes in the boards so you can see all the work going on.
“One spy hole will be placed at child’s height and another at wheelchair height,
so that no one misses out. We shall even be installing a web cam so people can
watch online as the project develops. At beach level, passers-by can learn all
about the i360 from our project progress board."
Top Brighton graffiti artists Aroe and Gary will be spray painting a section of the
hoardings on 28th August, inviting graffiti art lovers and the public to come along
and see them in action all day, alongside the new arches businesses on the
seafront. This will be a teaser event previewing a larger community event to
come on the sea facing hoardings, when they are put up later this year.
Aroe is internationally known for his graffiti projects, which include the huge
murals in Kensington Street, Brighton; Bomb the Box at the Box Park shopping
centre in Shoreditch, London; and the first ever ‘Meeting of Styles’ in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia.

creativity and diversity of Brighton. Together Aroe and Gary will design and paint
a unique piece of art directly onto the i360 hoardings. We encourage anyone with
a sense of curiosity to come witness this live art event, which will be happening
all day on 28th August!”
