HOW TO CHOOSE
THE RIGHT DOOR
SURROUND KIT
By answering a few basic
questions, you can easily
choose the best Door
Surround Kit for a project.
To start:
• What type of opening? Single or double door?
• How many sidelites?
To add crossheads
and pilasters:
• How much room is
above the door?
• Choose a door surround
kit that complements
the windows
• If an element such as lighting, doorbell, address block or any other item is found on either side of the door, narrower pilasters
may be required
Notes:
ORDERING DOOR SURROUND KITS

Measure the height and width of the door unit to be
trimmed. Be sure to compensate for brickmould,
outswing doors or other special conditions. Keep in
mind brickmould is essential when using a storm door.

Choose the desired pilasters – choose width as well as
plain or fluted.

The crosshead width should be equal to or wider than the
width of the door, pilasters and brickmould (if applicable).

The height of the crosshead will be dependent on the
space available above the door.
