POOLS OPEN FRIDAY, JUNE 26-AUGUST 21 TOWN OF SALINA SWIMMING PROGRAM ZOO TO YOU IS COMING We will again have the pleasure of the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park visiting some of our parks with animals for the children to pet and learn about. Please check it out at the following scheduled locations: Electronics, Duerr, Richfield and Sehr Pools will be staffed with Water Safety Instructors and Lifeguards eager to serve Salina residents. The swimming program will include open swim and American Red Cross swimming lessons. Swimming lessons will be offered to accommodate the needs at each pool site. The lessons are one half hour in length, Monday through Friday. Lessons are always available regardless of inclement weather; instructors are prepared to teach safety lessons if weather conditions do not permit students to get into the water. All swimming lessons will be conducted as per the requirement and conditions set forth by the American Red Tuesday, July 14 Duerr Park 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 15 Richfield Park 9:30 a.m. Electronics Park 11:00 a.m. Sehr Park 11:00 a.m. Cross. Swimming levels 1 through 6 will be offered and children must be 5 years of age by the beginning of the session for which they are being registered. PRE-REGISTRATION DATES FOR SWIM LESSONS Tuesday, June 9 and Thursday, June 11 SENIOR CITIZENS 60 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER To pre-register for swim lessons, Salina residents may go to any of the pool sites listed between 5 and 7 p.m. Duerr Pool on Duerr Road; Electronics Pool on Electronics Parkway / Larkin Street; Sehr Pool on Marsden Road. For Richfield Pool only pre-registration for the first session only will be at St. Margarets School. Second & third session registration for Richfield will be at the pool. Pool Managers handle swim registrations at the pool; registrations are not done through the parks office. **Note: You will be allowed to sign up for one session at a time. At the end of each session there will be sign-ups for the next sesson. SWIMMING SESSIONS: AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIMMING LESSONS (Monday - Friday) 1st Session: June 29 - July 10 2nd Session: July 13 - July 24 3rd Session: July 27 - Aug. 7 FOR AGES 5 AND UP To register for second and third sessions, residents may go directly to the respective pool site at the following dates and times: *Second Session Only (July 13 - 24) Friday, July 10, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. *Third Session Only (July 27 - August 7) Friday, July 24, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. SWIM LESSONS The Fee for swim lessons covers 10 consecutive half hour lessons in each session. There will be no refunds for missed classes. ** Note: Special family rates are for immediate family members only ** Note: Each session includes 10 lessons ** Note: Swim lessons for non-residents will be given only when openings become available **Special Note: For security purposes, individual pool telephone numbers will not be given to the public. In the event of an emergency, The Town of Salina Parks & Recreation Department currently sponsors 5 senior citizen groups at locations across town. In Liverpool we have: the Salina Town Hall Seniors and the Liverpool Methodist Seniors. In Mattydale we have the Salina Civic Seniors and the Mattydale-Hinsdale Seniors. In Lyncourt we have the Lyncourt Seniors. Some senior activities include: bus trips, picnics, luncheons, boat rides, wine tours, plays and concerts. News is published in area newspapers. Two forms of ID will be required; one, a photo ID and secondly another form such as a utility bill. Recommendation is made that adult Salina residents register for their children as well as themselves. Enjoy a little bit of everything Dance! There is no fee for residents, non-resident adults will be charged $2 per day / $1 per child under 18. All pool patrons may register during the hours of 12 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily at the pool sites and at the parks office, beginning the week of June 15 for the remainder of the summer, Please note that pools open on Friday June 26. All Salina Residents may pre-register for a pool residency card at any of the pools. This pre-registration is for Salina residents only. All residents will be asked to show that they reside in the Town of Salina. Please present a tax bill, driver’s license or other legal document with name and address on it. Only a parent or legal guardian may register their own children for lessons. 3. Babysitters, grandparents, health care providers and neighbors, etc. may not register children in the absence of the parent or legal guardian. Absolutely no notes will be honored. 4. Children that are registered for lessons must reside in the Town of Salina permanently. 5. Once residents have been proofed for residency at one registration session, they will not be proofed again at sub-sequent registrations for the remainder of the summer. 6. Absolutely no registrations will be honored before the predetermined dates and times set for registration. 7. Students who are registered to take lessons must attend 8 out of 10 classes to be considered for advancement into the next level of swimming. Those students who do FREE KARATE SUMMER CAMP July 13th - 17th $175.00 Ages 6 through 9 Salt City Karate & Kickboxing of 1900 Brewerton Road in Mattydale, is offering ONE MONTH OF FREE LESSONS for all new adult and kid students. The summer camp will run from June 27th to July 27, 2015. You must call Salt City Karate to make the first appointment (for new students only). SWIM LESSON REGISTRATION POLICIES 2. 2015 Recreation Programs The Parks Department sponsors two popular and well-attended co-ed volleyball nights (Wednesday and Friday evenings). These are conducted during the fall, winter and spring months and start at 6:30 p.m. Participants MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE or older and are required to sign in each time they attend. In addition to the four parks listed at the pool locations, there are neighborhood parks at the following sites: Sunflower Park off Sunflower Drive, Primrose Park off Primrose Drive, Burnham Park on Westwood and Malden Roads and Schaffer Park on Schaffer Avenue. All parks have an assortment of playground equipment, park benches and picnic tables. The department also maintains 19 baseball/softball fields, 8 tennis courts, 8 basketball courts and several buildings in the form of support facilities. All facilities are maintained by park maintenance staff on a daily and weekly basis. Questions regarding the use of town facilities should be directed to the parks office or park maintenance supervisor, Mark Newman. Children’s programs are free, and no registration is required unless indicated by an asterisk (*). Liverpool Central School District (LCSD) residents may register the first day indicated; open registration begins one week later. Summer playground programs will begin on Monday, June 29 and run through Friday, August 7 being held Monday through Friday mornings. Playgrounds located at the sites of our outdoor pools will be offering a supervised environment with Arts & Crafts at no charge. Besides making take-home projects, other activities include: Basketball, Kickball, Free Play and low organizational games. Last summer we had Zoo to You from the Rosamond Gifford Zoo at Burnet Park visit designated parks with a van full of interesting animals. We also had a Science Guy and Magician who provided demonstrations and experiments in which the children could participate. Information will be posted at the parks announcing the highlights for this summer. The four park locations that have pools are: Sehr Park – Lyncourt Richfield Park – Mattydale Duerr Park – Liverpool Electronics Park - Liverpool Special Note: As a playground program, children are supervised while at the site but they are free to go as they please. It is between you and your child(ren) to arrange when they can leave the site.
