Mesa Verde Foundation 2016 Rims to Ruins Art Exhibition and Sale Sponsorship Opportunities Mesa Verde Foundation is presenting its Fourth Annual Rims to Ruins exhibition and sale at its new home, Saks Galleries in Denver, CO. This year, 40 of America’s finest Western artists will be participating in the sale and exhibition and will show the tremendous diversity of the park and its surrounding areas, through their eyes and their works of art. With the first two years of the show focused on the cliff dwellings and historical sites inside Mesa Verde National Park, we thought it would be important for the artists and collectors both, to expand the subject matter to the entire Colorado Plateau this year. The Colorado Plateau consists of 130,000 sq. miles of the SW United States, from ruins to rivers and mountains to desert. It is home to Mesa Verde as well as many other historical sites, tribes, flora and fauna. Each artist will produce 4 pieces, to be featured and sold in the Rims to Ruins Exhibition and Sale at Saks Galleries in downtown, Denver. There will be a soft opening and preview party prior to the main event, which will take place on Saturday, November 5th, 2016. The exhibit will hang through November 21st, 2016. We have had great success in the past with the Rims to Ruins show by including some of the best and well-‐known artists in the western art world. We are pleased to be able to expand to Saks Galleries this year, which allows us to add almost 20 new artists to the 2016 show. Mesa Verde is a World Heritage Site and one of our nation’s greatest treasures. It offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloan people who made it their home for over 700 years, beginning about 550 A.D. Though best known for its magnificent and remarkably well-‐preserved cliff dwellings, Mesa Verde protects nearly 4,000 known archeological sites of all sizes. The park also includes 8,500 acres of federally designated wilderness. Mesa Verde Foundation not only provides key funding for projects within Mesa Verde National Park, but it also is a catalyst for economic development in the Montezuma County and La Plata County communities, through tourism, employment opportunities, and promotion of local businesses. Proceeds from the Rims to Ruins event support the work of Mesa Verde Foundation, which helps fund projects and programs at Mesa Verde National Park. “As the Federal Government continues to cut funds for our national parks, it is more important than ever to step forward. It is up to all of us to help make up that difference – if we want to maintain the quality of the national park experience for future generations” says Judy Grant, Chairman of the Mesa Verde Foundation Board of Directors. Please join us with our goal of raising awareness and the necessary funds to truly make a difference in Mesa Verde National Park.
