We’re putting children first. SVdP’s Peninsula Family Resource
Center addresses the critical needs of children in San Mateo
County who are in imminent danger of becoming homeless.
With SVdP support the tragic cycle of homelessness
is prevented.
Help
10,000+ families
remain in their homes
Today, SVdP volunteers are visiting the homes of the working
poor, seniors and the unemployed to lend a hand and a heart
during this time of crisis. They deliver food, help with rent
and utility payments to keep families housed, and distribute
vouchers so that families can shop, free of charge, at SVdP
thrift stores for much needed clothes and furniture. During
2008, $480,000 in rental assistance was paid directly to
landlords. $98,000 helped with utility payments.
Serve
90,000+ meals each
year to the homeless
SVdP’s Homeless Help Centers, strategically located in
South San Francisco, San Mateo and Redwood City, offer
basic survival necessities, such as a hot meal, clothing,
sleeping bags, bus tokens, ID cards, laundry and mail
service. SVdP is the daily vouching agency for beds at
San Mateo County shelters.
Support
3,000+ people through
Restorative Justice services
SVdP’s Restorative Justice Ministry works to heal both
the victim and offender in order to regain the trust of the
community. Victims and their families are supported.
SVdP’s Jail Chaplain and volunteers offer pastoral care to
incarcerated men, women, and youth. SVdP’s Catherine’s
Center is a residential safe home for women recently
released from incarceration. Women receive support
and empowerment for their practical needs and emotional
and spiritual growth.

directly to help support the poor.
Another year has gone by and with your support the Society of
St. Vincent de Paul has continued to give assistance to our brothers
and sisters facing critical emergency needs. Through these
difficult economic times, we find ourselves striving to respond
to the increasing calls for assistance.
Last year, over 40,000 San Mateo County neighbors were aided,
nearly half of whom were children. Through the efforts of 1,200
volunteers and the help of all our supporters, we have been able
to continue the good work of the Society – bringing hope and
compassion to those in need.
We are blessed with so many talented individuals on our District
Council, Board, and staff. Not only do they bring to us their
expertise but also their visions for the future. We are presently
working with:
• St. Francis of Assisi Conference to improve their existing
facility so that they can better serve the East Palo Alto
community.

As a non-profit charity, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul relies
almost exclusively on private individuals, foundations, and local
businesses for support. Our deepest gratitude goes to all of our

simply would not be able to provide emergency assistance and

In San Mateo County, 1,200+ Vincentian volunteers are an integral part of the County’s
safety net services for those individuals and families facing emergency situations.
Everyday we hear heartbreaking stories of real people in our community looking
to SVdP as their last hope, and we’re doing everything we can to help them.
Help us make a difference today, please:
1. Donate by check or charge. Send a check or use your Visa, Mastercard, or
Discover Card. Consider a monthly pledge, the most powerful way to help
our clients with their immediate needs.
2. Donate online today at www.svdp-sanmateoco.org
3. Trade your “wheels” for meals. Donate your auto, truck, boat, or R.V. Proceeds
of your gift stay in San Mateo County to help us feed the hungry and provide
emergency assistance. Call 1-800-YES-SVDP (1-800-937-7837).
4. Donate goods. We welcome gently used clothing, shoes, accessories,
household goods and furniture. We re-cycle computers and electronics. Call
(650) 871-6844 to arrange for a convenient pick-up at your home or office or drop
off merchandise at any SVdP thrift store located in Daly City, South San Francisco,
San Mateo, and Redwood City.
5. Gifts of stock can be sent to the SVdP Merrill Lynch Account #16H-61825.
Please notify our Development Director at (650) 373-0622 when you transfer
a gift of stock.
