A CO graduate knows the answers to these questions.
Profile of the study programme
The CO study programme trains students to become specialists in the field of business, marketing and corporate
communication. CO students learn to formulate strategic
communication plans, which must include internal communication, external communication and public relations. They
also learn how to draw up a (marketing) communication
research plan. Furthermore they learn about advertising and
how important it is for a company to have a good advisor.
Practical components
Applying skills and knowledge in projects and assignments
is an essential part of the CO programme. Examples of these
are designing ads, leaflets and brochures, designing an internet page connected to a database and using direct marketing
to get the highest response. Students form their own advertising agency with fellow students, which is an important contribution to future functions.
Students also have the opportunity to compete with other
CO students for the best strategic integrated plans in the

The management of a company must be able to assess
the current (financial) situation whenever necessary.
A FA student develops and maintains the systems
that ensure this sort of information is available when
needed.
Profile of the study programme
The FA study programme trains students for middle management functions in the private and public sectors. Students
acquire knowledge, skills and insight, which will enable them
to independently analyse financial data and to give advice on

Profile of the study programme
The HRQM study programme trains students for policy and management functions
in industry and governmental organizations. Graduates are familiar with both commercial processes and legal procedures. They are also eminently suitable for the
management of the human resources in the organizations.
Human resources and quality management are the core subjects of the study programme. In addition, a great deal of attention is paid to oral and writing skills and
to working in a team. A compulsory part of the programme are the assessment

ABS has been offering the IBMS programme for more than ten years.
Students from many different nationalities have already successfully
­completed this programme.
Profile of the study programme
The IBMS programme trains students for business functions and management positions in internationally oriented companies. The IBMS programme covers all aspects
of international business. Students follow the study units Business, Management,
Marketing Management and Communication in the second year. The practical application of international commercial law and continued training in the chosen language
are also part of the second year.
In the fourth year students integrate their knowledge and experience by writing a strategic plan.
Careers open to IBMS graduates include: international marketing consultant, export
manager, international account manager or international sales manager.
Practical components
Putting theory into practice is one of the aims of IBMS programme. This is done by
means of projects, the work placement and the graduation assignment.
The module ‘International Enterprise’ focuses on analysing the business environment
and is based on the principles of problem-based learning. Students with different
business orientations work in groups to research and analyse data for case studies.
In ‘Marketing Management and Planning’ students gain an understanding of the
business situation and industry conditions in which marketing plans are professionally developed and implemented.
The ‘Marketing Research Project’ gives students the opportunity to work in groups on
a real assignment for a local company.

The international work placement takes place in a semester in the third year, before or after

In the second semester of the final year, students complete a graduation assignment for an
international company. The assignment involves writing a thesis based on desk and field
research in order to develop a solution for a strategic business problem.

During a two-week tour a rock band will give nine performances in different
sports stadiums. At a music shop you will get a new DVD as a gift during a
short sales promotion. These activities require an effective logistical organisation.
Profile of the study programme
The LO study programme trains students to become specialists in the field of distribution
and logistics. LO graduates can spot and identify problems in the production and distribution of goods and services and can find satisfying solutions based on a thorough analysis of
alternatives. LO graduates are specialists in many fields, for example, purchasing, production, marketing, automation and cost control. The study programme pays ample attention to
these subjects. In addition, the programme concentrates on internationalisation.
LO graduates are generally found in middle management functions, with the prospect of
promotion to strategic positions. Their activities mainly target small business, department
stores, trade and industry and logistic services, but also non-profit organizations like hospitals, where the flow of goods is an essential part of the primary process.
Practical components
Applying skills in practice is an essential part of the LO study programme. This is evidenced
by case studies, projects and practical assignments throughout the programme. Every six
months there is a central theme, for example, the logistics chain, international distribution or international logistics. Students are trained to tackle both theoretical and practical
problems and they learn to work with commercial software packages, e.g. the Enterprise
Resource Planning package Microsoft Navision.
Examples of LO functions are: logistics manager, head of physical distribution, logistics analyst, distribution manager, purchaser and production planner.
