2009 Annual Report
Dear CYT Family,
Two words best describe CYT in 2009: cultivation and struggle.
Amidst the difficult economic times for CYT and the nation as a
whole, CYT has had its busiest year yet with the opening of three new
programs: Wichita, Kansas; Lafayette, Louisiana; and Indianapolis,
Indiana. This is just the beginning as we now have global interest in
Canada, and South Africa.
As CYT spreads into new cities, we value the culture within each area. Whether it’s the
big city-life in Chicago, the Southern charm in Louisiana, or the rain that keeps CYT
VanPort indoors, we truly recognize the personality and flair behind each Affiliate. Of
course, this all stems from the core of CYT- developing character, building relationships,
and welcoming and valuing every member of the CYT community.
We are thrilled to introduce Joshua Tucker to CYT National! He is a CYT alumn with a
M.A. in Communications and years of experience in producing and directing for stage
and screen. As CYT Manager, Joshua will be working with the National staff as well as
all the Affiliates to coordinate the next phase of expansion
efforts.
Travis Russell is the Director of Corporate
Communications. He will be working to ensure CYT’s
technology development, online ticketing and CYT
software. Jessica Cortez, Affiliate Coordinator, will be
the main link to all our Affiliate cities nationwide. Sheryl
Russell will continue to manage as our National Director

Who we are:
Christian Youth Theater (CYT) is an after-school theater arts
training program for students ages 4 - 18. Since its founding in
1981 in San Diego California, CYT has grown to be the largest
youth theater in the nation. There are affiliates across the country
training thousands of students a year. CYT is a non-profit 501(c)(3)
educational organization funded primarily through its tuition, ticket
sales and outside contributions.
Mission Statement:
CCT/CYT is dedicated to developing character in children and adults
through training in the arts and by producing wholesome family entertainment, all of which reflect
Judeo-Christian values.
Values & Objectives:
• Placing the maximum worth on people and treating each individual with respect and significance.
• Developing character values in individuals including commitment, discipline, self-esteem,
confidence, and integrity.
• Supporting the family unit through the direct involvement of each family member’s talents,
interests, and abilities.
• Providing a quality product without compromising a wholesome environment.
• Being a godly role model promoting the awareness of a higher accountability.
