Becoming A New American Malaysia Airlines Joins oneworld Alliance
February 2013
Becoming A New American
For more than two years, we've been
building toward a time when the outside
of our aircraft reflects the progress we've
made on the inside. Today, we're excited to
reveal the next step in our transformation.
We're inspired by what we make possible—by our ability to connect you with the
world around you. As we advance toward
becoming a new American, we're moving
forward with great purpose and respect
for our history—challenging ourselves to
progress, to modernize, to innovate and to
place you at the center of all that we do.
We invite you to be part of our evolution.
Malaysia Airlines Joins oneworld Alliance
On February 1, 2013, we welcomed Malaysia Airlines into
oneworld, connecting 16 new destinations and one new country
– Brunei – to the oneworld map. Its addition expands oneworld’s
global coverage to 842 destinations in 156 countries, served by
some 9,000 departures a day operated by a combined fleet of
some 2,500 aircraft, carrying nearly 340 million passengers a
year. Add oneworld’s other members elect - Qatar Airways and
Sri Lankan Airlines - and the alliance network will reach 860
destinations in 159 countries.
At Narita International Airport, oneworld carriers in Japan
celebrated Malaysia Airlines becoming a member of oneworld
alliance by hosting a small ceremony at the gate. Aircraft of each
member carriers surrounded Malaysia Airlines’ aircraft bound
for Kuala Lumpur, welcoming its addition to oneworld.
