Remove the inner needle cap and throw it away. ! 2 Put the 3 ml insulin cartridge (use Lilly cartridges only) into the cartridge holder with the narrower end first. Keep the injection knob pressed down for 5 seconds after the injection. Do not pull the needle out again until 5 seconds have passed to ensure you get the full dose. Please note: after you have pulled the needle out the number 0 should appear in the dose window. Select two units. 1 0 1 0 If necessary, push the plunger rod into the pen. Put the outer needle cap back onto the needle, remove the needle and dispose of it. 2 0 Attach the cartridge holder – tighten until you hear a “click”. ! Hold the pen with the needle upright and tap the side of the cartridge gently. Then press the injection knob so that a thin stream of insulin comes out. 2 1 ! Please note: the pen has not been properly primed if only a few drops of insulin can be seen. Advice for insulin suspensions: roll the pen gently 10 times and then tilt it 10 times so that the insulin looks evenly mixed. This brief account is just an overview. You still need to read the instructions for use carefully which are enclosed with your pen and the insulin cartridges.
