Peanut/Nut Sensitive Policy
‫בס׳׳ד‬
In the interest of keeping all our campers safe, Camp Agudah is a “Peanut/Nut
Sensitive” camp. This means that no foods containing peanuts or nuts will be
allowed on the camp grounds. Parents can not send any snacks or food to camp
with their child/children which contain peanuts or nuts. (This includes peanut
butter and peanut/nut cereals.) No home baked/cooked foods are allowed. Camp
will have random inspections. We appreciate the vigilance of parents & campers
in following the rules as you understand that this is a matter of ‫פיקוח נפש‬.
1. No foods containing peanuts or nuts are to be brought into camp by campers, staff, or
visitors.
2. Foods labeled “may contain traces of peanuts/nuts” or “made on machinery which manufactures peanuts/nuts” may be brought for individual consumption, but should not be shared.
3. All packages will be inspected. Birthday cakes must be from a nut free bakery. i.e. Hermes,
Isaacs, Grodzinski’s or Amazing Donuts.
It is the responsibility of the parents to notify the camp of any campers with food allergies.
Parents of campers with food allergies will be required to do the following:
1. Complete and provide 6 copies of the Allergy Anaphylaxis Alert Form.
2. Complete and sign a release form allowing staff to administer the Epi-pen in the event of an
emergency.
3. Ensure that your child wears a Medic-Alert bracelet.
4. Provide 2 Epi-pens that are not expired to be kept with the camper at all times.
5. Speak with your child’s counselor to discuss his/her individual needs within the first few
days of camp.
TO ENSURE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR ALLERGIC CAMPERS, CAMP AGUDAH WILL:
1. Only provide foods that are acknowledged or represented to be peanut/nut free. Baked
goods will be provided from a peanut/nut free bakery. Foods labeled “may contain traces of
peanuts/nuts” will not be provided to campers.
2. Train all staff members to recognize and respond to a severe allergic reaction.
3. Ensure the placement of spare Epi pens throughout the camp.

TELEPHONE CALLS/FAXES/EMAIL
From past experience, we have found that telephone calls between
parents and campers have disrupted the smooth operation of camp.
Please instruct your child not to call unless it is vital, in which case
he/she will be required to first ask permission from the counselor.
Please make sure your child has an international calling card. Each
bunk will receive a designated time once a week to call home. At the
same time, we ask for your co-operation by not calling the camp
unless there is an “emergency”. At such time, please contact the camp
office and messages will be forwarded.
A steady flow of letters are the best replacement for phone calls. We, in
turn, will urge campers to write steadily to you. A FAX machine and
EMAIL (girls season only) for incoming letters is available. Please limit
faxes to 1 page. Please do not fax/email pictures. Please print your
child’s name, bunk number clearly at the top of your fax or else your
child will not receive the fax/email.
Faxes/emails will be distributed once a day, usually during lunch.
Please do not send or fax letters to the Toronto office. There is no
guarantee that they will be delivered. Cell phones are not permitted.
