Film Overview
RasTa is the story of the personal journey of Rita and Bob Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, into the world of Rastafari. Her
exploration takes us to countries where her grandfather‟s captivating performances delivered the Rastafarian message. Her travels not only unveil
the reach and inspiration of his music and message, but also the history and evolution of the Rastafarian movement.
―Rasta is a journey,‖ says Prendergast. ―It‘s a geographical, spiritual and emotional trod.‖
The documentary boasts an exciting reggae soundtrack, featuring established, as well as emerging contemporary, reggae stars – they include:

The Lead
Granddaughter of Rita and Bob Marley, turned Rastafarian explorer, Donisha Prendergast is a nu-school Rasta. Like her grandfather, she is,
at heart, a true artist with impressive skills in a wide variety of disciplines. She is an accomplished actor having starred in several major Jamaican
television productions. She‟s also successfully toured the Eastern Caribbean, the US and UK in notable leading roles on the live stage.
Donisha‟s fiery passion has been contagious in the filming of the RasTa – not only amongst the crew but also with everyone she meets. And she
fuels other initiatives too, including Sumthing F.E.R.T.I.L.E (For Every Revolutionary Truth that Inspired Leaders to Educate)
Productions, founded with partners Falani Spivey and Serita Stewart -- currently producing a doc that investigates links between diasporic
Blacks and Africa.
