About IWNA 2007
Nanotechnology is emerging as key areas of scientific exploration
nowadays. Research of nanotechnology will lead to new developments in
areas such as healthcare, food and environmental research, information
technology, security, new materials and energy production and storage.
The aim of this workshop is to provide a specialized forum for scientists,
researchers, experts and students interested in nanotechnology and
application ranging from fundamental research to nanofabrication and
applications of nanodevices.
The workshop will focus on fundamentals of nanotechnology, nanomaterials
and processing, nanomaterials and nanodevices applications.
In conjunction with IWNA 2007, Annual School on Micro-Nano
Technology will be held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 12-14, 2007.
This School organised by MINATEC (France) and VNUHCM (Vietnam)
will offer lectures on micro-nanotechnology and discussion on current new
issues in nanotechnology.
The workshop will hopefully open an opportunity for international &
national scientists to exchange knowledge on nanophysics, nanochemistry,
nanomaterials, nanobiotechnology, nanofabrication. Besides, the possible
cooperation in researching
and
teaching nanotechnology may be
established under the productive outcomes of the workshop.
Workshop Topics
1. Fundamentals of nanotechnology
Papers includes theory, simulations, fundamentals of nanophysics,
nanochemistry, nano fluidics, and nanobiotechnology.
2. Nanomaterials and processing
Papers of this section may concern to any kinds of nanomaterials and
processing, including carbon nanotube, nanowires, thin films,
nanomagnetics,... Special attention is given for nanomaterials that are
synthesized using innovative approaches.
3. Nanomaterials and Nanodevices applications
Papers presenting conventional and innovative techniques for the
nanofabrication of nanodevices and the applications of nanodevices
and nanomaterials for a specific purpose are invited.
Focused techniques are, but not limited to, Nanolithography, Nanoimprinting, Edge lithography, Focused Ion Beam Etching (IBE), Self
Assembly, Nano-thin film, and packaging, etc. Special attention is
given for the fabrication of nanodevices using innovative approaches
(without using expensive nanolithography tools or synthesized at
large scale) and their characteristics. These aspects are emphasized to
offer an opportunity to quickly promote the application of such
nanodevices.
Special attentions are also given for the application of nanomaterials
and nanodevices for healthcare, biomedical, biotechnology,
environment quality control (water and air), and energy etc.
Publication
Papers presented at the workshop will be printed in a Proceeding and
a CD. The proceedings and CD will be provided to the attendants at
the workshop. Selected papers will be refereed for publication in the
Journal of Experimental Nanoscience (JEN) of the Publisher Taylor
& Francis (England).
About Laboratory for Nanotechnology - VietNam
National University - Ho Chi Minh City
The Laboratory for Nanotechnology (LNT) was established in
September 2004. It is financed by the Higher Education Project of
World Bank with the budget of 4.5 millions USD. LNT has 35
researchers in which 25 researchers are permanents.

International cooperation:
The Laboratory for Nanotechnology has established good
relationship with 30 Universities/Institutes in the world:
Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (CEA-LETI) - France,
Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble (INPG) - France,
PFIEV - France, MESA+Research Institute - The
Netherlands,University of Neuchatel - Switzerland, University of
California at Santa Barbara (UCSB) - USA, TOSHIBA - Japan,
JICA Project for AUN/SEED - NET - Japan, KIST - Korea,
SKKU - Korea, Academia Sinica - Taiwan, NUS - Singapore,
NTU - Singapore ... Among these, there are 10 Universities /
Institutes have received LNT’s cadres, students for training and
postgraduate program on Nanotechnology.
Venue
The location of the First International Workshop on Nanotechnology and
Application IWNA 2007 will be held in Vung Tau city. Vung Tau city,
which is 125 km from Ho Chi Minh city, is a resort town in province of Ba
Ria - Vung Tau and is the petroleum center in Vietnam. Vung Tau is more
interesting for its extensive beaches. Everybody always prefer sightseeing at
Front Beach (Bai Truoc) but go swimming in Back Beach (Bai Sau). Back
Beach is well-known for its over 10 km of fine sand seaside. Vung Tau is
also one of the most well known golf courses in Vietnam. From Ho Chi
Minh City, it takes two hours to reach Vung Tau by road (51A Expressway)
or about one hour by hydrofoil express ferry.
All the participants are invited to joint the following events:
