Cutting and Sewing Instructions
Daisy Blocks.
From fabric 1 cut six 10½" (27cm) squares
From fabric 2 cut forty-eight shapes from diamond template A, adding ¼" (0,75cm) seam allowance.
From fabric 3 cut twenty-four shapes from triangle template B, adding ¼" (0,75cm) seam allowance.
From fabric 4 cut twenty-four shapes from triangle template B, adding ¼" (0,75cm) seam allowance.
From fabric 3 cut forty-eight shapes from triangle template C, adding ¼" (0,75cm) seam allowance.
Matching seam allowances and corner points, hand piece patches with a small running stitch, using picture as
a guide to placement. Press seams to one side. Cut a circle of card 2¾" (7cm) diameter. Use this as a
template to cut out the centre circles in fabric 7, adding ¼" (0,75cm) seam allowance. Work a row of
running stitch just outside the stitching line. Place card circle on wrong side of fabric circle and pull up thread.
Press and remove card. Applique this circle by hand or machine over centre of the daisies. Hand or machine
applique the daisies to the centre of the 10½" (27cm) squares. Press carefully from the wrong side.
Double Pinwheel Blocks.
From fabric 4 rotary cut sixteen 3³/8" (8,5cm) squares.
From fabric 5 rotary cut twelve 3³/8" (8,5cm) squares.
From fabric 6 rotary cut four 3³/8" (8,5cm) squares.
Lightly draw a diagonal line in pencil on the wrong side of all the fabric 4 squares. Pair these squares, right
sides together with the other sixteen squares. Chain piece all the squares, stitching ¼" (0,75cm) either side of
pencil line. Cut threads apart, and rotary cut squares in half along pencil line. Press seams towards darker
fabric. Lay out pieced squares to match picture. With right sides together, machine piece to create
10½" (27cm) blocks. Press carefully.
Infill Blocks
From fabric 8 cut two 15¼ " (39cm) squares. Cut each of these diagonally into four (only six will be used).
From fabric 8 cut two 7⅞" (20cm) squares. Cut each of these diagonally in half to give four right angle
triangles.
Assembling Central Medallion
Using the picture as a guide, it would be helpful to lay the blocks out in position on a table or the floor.
Take two of the appliqued circle blocks with a pink central star and join them to opposite sides of a double
pinwheel block. Repeat this using two applique circle blocks with blue central stars.
Take four large triangles in fabric 8 and join them to opposite sides of the remaining applique blocks. Join one
of the remaining large triangles to each of the strips of three pieced blocks. (When joining seams, take care not
to stretch sides that are cut on the bias.)
4cm
Join the long side of each of the small triangles in fabric 8 to the free edge of the top and bottom applique
