SPECIFICATIONS
Martifer Solar is proud to be a recognized name and contributor to the largest
sporting event, the World Cup. The company completed a 1.4 MW photovoltaic
installation on the rooftop of the World Cup 2014 stadium, Mineirão, in Belo
Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The company was responsible for the engineering,
procurement and construction (EPC) of this monumental installation and will be
in charge of the subsequent operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the plant.
German bank KfW and CEMIG (Companhia Energetica de Minas Gerais) provided
funding for the $16.1 million stadium project. The solar energy generated by the
1.4 MW power plant will be used to provide clean energy to surrounding local
homes around the area as opposed to being used directly by the stadium itself.
At the time of its completion, the project was one of the largest PV installations
in the country. With 6,700 modules installed on fixed structures and covering
close to 70% of the stadium´s roof area, the project will produce equivalent
energy to supply the average consumption of more than 930 inhabitants.
