NORTH McCARRAN BOULEVARD at NORTH VIRGINIA STREET INTERSECTION PROJECT
Why are we doing this project?
The added lanes will allow more efficient traffic
operations and improve safety through the
intersections to support increased capacity from
regional growth.
Bike lane and sidewalk
improvements will enhance mobility and safety for
bicyclists and pedestrians.
What effect will the project have on public
traffic and access?
Where is the project located?
The project is located at the intersection of North
McCarran Boulevard and North Virginia Street, and
the adjacent intersection of North Virginia Street /
North Sierra Street / Comstock Drive.
What is the scope of the project?
The pavement will be widened to add and realign
lanes, reconstruct median islands, and install new
traffic signals to provide:

Double left turn lanes from eastbound McCarran
to northbound Virginia
Double left turn lanes from westbound McCarran
to southbound Virginia
Double left turn lanes from northbound Virginia
to westbound McCarran
Double left turn lanes from northbound Sierra to
northbound Virginia
One additional thru lane in each direction on
Virginia at the McCarran intersection
Better connected bike lanes
New curbs and sidewalks will be constructed on
Virginia Street and pedestrian ramps throughout the
project improving safety and accessibility.

project area.
Construction will be performed during night hours.
During construction, a minimum of one lane will be
opened in each direction with left turn lanes at the
intersections. For your safety, traffic controls will be
in place and may cause short traffic delays during
the day or night. Allow extra travel time to reach
your destination within the construction area.
Access to adjacent properties will be maintained for
the duration of the project; however temporary
driveway closures are expected during certain
construction activity such as reconstruction of the
driveway or pavement adjacent to driveways. The
contractor will notify affected properties in advance
of the closures.
When will the project be constructed?
Construction is planned to start in Spring 2015 and
slated to be completed in Summer 2015.
