STEP 1 – Review Specifications and Wall Panels
Review contract drawings and specifications. Locate any unique conditions in or surrounding the brick texture area (i.e. reveals, smooth banding, corner conditions, top / bottom
conditions, etc.).
Trim BrickMaster™ sheets to fit desired conditions. If the drawings indicate no mortar
joint on the edge of concrete panels which abut the form’s edge, the BrickMaster™ plastic
sheets can be trimmed using a utility knife, scissors or band saw. Reveal strips or mortar
end joints are available.
Note whether the height of the concrete panels are in full brick increments. If not, decide
where the half brick will work best, either at the top or the bottom of panel. The
BrickMaster™ sheets can be trimmed to fit.
Layout Coursing Lines on all the concrete panels. It is essential that this is done to ensure
bricks align across the construction joints from one concrete panel to the next.
STEP 2 – Sheet Layout
•
Clean the slab or casting bed before laying down BrickMaster™ plastic sheets.
•
SNAP CHALK LINES on casting bed or slabs and on bulkheads for placement of sheets at
2’ or 4’ increments to ensure the BrickMaster™ sheets stay on track. Coursing height
check points are suggested if the concrete panel has several courses. When the heights are
critical, they should be measured no less than 4' vertically and 8' horizontally.
•
BrickMaster™ sheets can be easily trimmed around block outs and features. Chalk lines
should be used to mark those dimensions. These areas should be prepared and finished
before BrickMaster™ sheet placement.

STEP 2 – Sheet Layout (cont.)
•
Beginning from left to right, start at the
first corner of the first concrete panel, and
pick a point where the bricks will remain
straight (no arcs or grade changes),
typically at the bottom of the concrete
panel.
•
Work horizontally across the forming
panels.
•
Locate the embossed “HI”mark on the left
and the “LO” mark on the right of the
BrickMaster™ sheets; the panels overlap
and lock into place horizontally here.
•
To overlap vertically, locate the cove in the
grout on the top of the sheet and overlap it
onto the full grout of the bottom sheet.
•
If the concrete panels do not end in a full
brick increment, then the bricks will have
to be cut as required and the remaining
brick used (or cut a new one) for the next
panel. This ensures brick sizes remain
visually consistent across the construction
joints.

STEP 2 – Sheet Layout (cont.)
•
Once the BrickMaster™ sheets are placed at
desired chalk lines, weigh down the edges and
overlapping liners with the bricks.
•
The weight of the bricks should hold the
BrickMaster™ sheets in place, however you may
use silicone or double sided tape at the corners as
required for jobsite conditions (wind).
•
If reveal strips or cove joints are required, these
are available.
STEP 3 – Sheet Layout with a Corner Return Condition
•
Use the specially made BrickMaster™ corner
panels, which fold to 90 degrees at the score line.
Overlap it onto the next full sheet.
•
Use silicone or an adhesive to secure the BrickMaster™ corner brick sheet to the vertical
concrete form edge. The partial bricks will have to
be cut and adhered onto the sides of the corner
BrickMaster™ sheets.

•
Ensure no dirt or debris is in the cavity of the
BrickMaster™ sheet or the brick will not lay down
flat.
•
Insert the bricks face down into the BrickMaster™
sheets, the grooves or dove tails of the brick
should be face up.
•
Place the bricks in the horizontal rows first to
ensure the brick colors are dispersed across the
panel.
•
Use standard masonry practices and draw bricks
randomly from different cartons and pallets. This
helps to alleviate color variation issues as the color
of brick is not always consistent throughout the
manufacturing process.
•
Continue to check the BrickMaster™ sheets and
bricks to ensure they line up with the
CHALK LINES.
•
If the BrickMaster™ sheets do start to spread
during the brick placement process, they can be
manually pushed back into place as you move
along; however DO NOT wait until all the bricks
are in place. The bricks weigh 5 pounds per square
foot.
•
If a row does not end in a full brick, cut the brick
as required.
•
DO NOT walk on the unfilled BrickMaster™
sheets. Create walkways with bricks if access is
required from both sides.

STEP 4 – Inserting Bricks into the BrickMaster™ (cont.)
•
Check for raised or cracked bricks before placing
rebar.
•
If rebar chairs are
used, do not place
them
on
the
corner of a brick
STEP 5 – Finishing and Cleaning the Panel
•
When placing the concrete, take care not to create
currents or use any excessive force through
concrete placement, especially from the side, or
through vibration which could dislodge the brick.
•
If an internal vibrator is used, then place the head
perpendicular to the bricks, take care not to hit or
drag it along the top of the bricks.
•
The key to an easier clean up is to strip the
BrickMaster™ sheets as soon as the concrete
has cured.
•
The BrickMaster™ sheets simply strip off the
concrete panel. Use a scraper to remove larger
pieces of concrete that may have leaked
underneath the bricks during casting.
•
Clean concrete residue and the wax coating off the
bricks with a hot water, high pressure power
washer (180° using a 4000 psi. washer is optimal).
