With a reputation of luxury and elegance, Hotel Meyrick is a highly coveted city centre wedding
venue. We celebrated our 160th birthday in 2012 and it is a hotel steeped in history, charm and
romance. The 4 Star Hotel Meyrick has been Galway’s premier Wedding location since opening
its doors in 1852. Our stunning Ballroom - The Connemara Suite, offers a romantic wedding
setting, in an iconic and historical venue situated right in the heart of Galway.
When it opened it was known as the “Railway Hotel”. One of the first events held was the Galway
Subscription Ball. The organisers included Lady Clanmorris and Lady Redington. Permission
to hold the ball in the hotel had been sought from Lieutenant-Colonel Layard, senior military
officer in the town. Once granted the officers and band of the 9th Galway Regiment also attended
this very prestigious event.To mark the historic event of the Presentation of the colours by the
Marchioness of Clanricarde on the 19th of October 1855, a ball was organised at the Hotel and
Lord and Lady Clanricarde invited representatives of all military ranks from Galway, Mayo, Clare
and King’s county to attend. According to contemporary reports, beautiful ladies from all over
the country arrived and were dressed in the exquisite fashion of the day. Crowds gathered to catch
a glimpse and there was great excitement as Carriage after Carriage arrived .
The Luxury 4 Star Property is now called Hotel Meyrick - named after a section of Eyre Square,
once called Meyrick Place. Many notable and historic figures have been welcomed across the
threshold, including heads of state, kings, princes, adventurers, soldiers, writers & actors.

Presidents who have stayed at Hotel Meyrick include Sean T.O’Kelly, Eamon de Valera, Erskine
Childers, Patrick Hillary and President Charles De Gaulle of France. Sean Lemass and Charles

Hansen and John Aldridge. Musicians & Singers who have stayed at the hotel include the Furey

Hotel Meyrick has also played host to numerous actors and actresses, incuding Siobhan

options are requested. The wine that is offered as part of the package is Hotel Meyrick House Wine. Own wine can not

Hotel Meyrick is a luxury Civil Ceremony and Wedding Venue and is popular with both Irish
Couples and also those travelling from abroad to get married here in Ireland.
Our elegant Ballroom- the Connemara Suite is available to create the perfect setting for your
religious blessing, civil, humanist or spiritual wedding ceremony.
It is suitable for ceremonies of 60 to 160 guests.
For a more intimate ceremony, our Executive Lounge boasts a breath taking view overlooking the
picturesque skyline of Galway, providing the perfect setting for ceremonies of up to 30 guests.
Boasting an excellent reputation for quality food and service, along with the utmost care and
attention by experienced management & staff, your wedding day is guaranteed to be a memorable
occasion at Hotel Meyrick. Guests will be treated to the very finest food and entertainment to

PRE AND POST-WEDDING EVENTS
The hotel offers a number of unique venues for any pre and post wedding day events you may be planning.
Offering Group and Private Dining options, No 15 is a beautiful modern space, broken
into a number of inter-connecting rooms with simple, classic design, menus and food.
It opens from 18.30 every night of the week, serving Table d’Hote and A La Carte menus.
No 15 is ideal for a family meal the night before your wedding.
Our Wedding Team are happy to devise the perfect pre-Wedding, dining package for
your consideration, tailor made to your specific requirements.
The Gaslight is a gorgeous bright, relaxed space, with windows looking out onto
Eyre Square. It provides a little more informality, whilst maintaining our high
standards of service.
This beautiful venue provides provides excellent dining options along with great
cocktails, full bar and great wine lists too.
With a range of entertainment options, Group dining menus, Sharing platters & Party
food packages to select from; the Gaslight is ideal for your post wedding celebration.
RESERVING YOUR RECEPTION
How to Reserve
After you have viewed our facilities and decided to hold your wedding reception with us, we will provisionally hold space for 7
days, after which we will require a deposit of €1,000 and a signed copy of your contract which will be tailor made to your package
specifications and outline our terms and conditions. We will reply within 48 hours of receipt of your deposit confirming your
reservation details and enclosing a deposit receipt. A second non-refundable deposit of €1,000 is required to be paid, 3 months
in advance of your wedding date.
Accommodation
•
On the wedding night the Bride & Groom are accommodated in one our luxury suites with our compliments.
•
15 rooms can be held exclusively for you on a provisional basis until 1 month prior to the wedding date.
•
The Bride & groom must state at the time of booking whether the bedrooms will be allocated on a first come first serve basis,
or only for the bride & groom to name.
•
Wedding rooms to be named by the bride & groom must be done 3 weeks prior to arrival. Any rooms not cancelled or
confirmed 48 hours prior to the arrival date, will be subject to full charge & will be the responsibility of the bride & groom
•
Bedrooms not taken from the 15 room allocation will be released automatically 7 days prior to arrival
•
10 % discount to weddings guests when bedrooms are booked through our reservations department only. All residents
have full use of the Hotels Facilities.
•
All bedrooms booked must be secured by credit or debit card otherwise will be released 7 days prior to arrival
•
Discounted rates are valid for the night of the wedding only.
•
Extended Stay, 2-3-4 night rates and weekend rates will also be supplied if required.

Terms and Conditions
•
A non-refundable deposit of €1000 is payable along with a signed copy of your personalised wedding contract to secure your booking.
•
A further €1,000 non-refundable deposit is required to be paid 3 months prior to the date of your wedding.
•
Approximate numbers should be given one month in advance and final numbers 48 hours in advance. The final number is the
minimum number you will be charged for on the day, should your numbers increase you will be charged for the larger number.
•
Where a supplement is applied to allow for a choice of courses, the supplement will be based on the higher of the 2 item prices.
•

•
A Room Hire fee of €800 on Weddings less than 100 people will apply. Please enquire for details.
•
All package agreements are based on estimated final billing numbers on booking. Should there be a decrease in guest
numbers, pricing structure will revert to full booking price as per contract outline.
•
The All Inclusive Package is based on a minimum of 160 adult guests for final billing
•
Wedding Tasting is included for the Bride and Groom. It should be booked to take place on a Mid-Week Afternoon. Dates
of tastings must be agreed in accordance with our chefs availability.
•
10% discount for booking on Sunday – Thursday is based on the food menu only and excludes Christmas and New Year
period as well as Bank holidays and Public holidays.
•
Hotel Meyrick operates valet parking only and a number of car parking spaces may be reserved in advance by the main bridal
party. Please note that charges do apply for valet parking.
•
Final numbers for billing purposes must be confirmed in writing a minimum of 48 hours prior to the wedding day. Should
this not be the case, Hotel Meyrick will use the last confirmed numbers or the actual attendees if this is higher.
•
A Resident’s Bar facility is provided by Hotel Meyrick at the Night Managers discretion.

Please sign the above and return to the hotel with a deposit of €1,000 to secure your booking. A Further non-refundable payment of €1000 is required 3 months prior to
your wedding date. This final account must be settled in full before departure from the hotel by cash, bank draft or credit card (with authorisation for full amount). A pre
payment facility may be set up in advance should you wish to pay installments before your wedding day. Wines are sold on a sale or return basis, credit cannot be given for
open bottles. Prices for food and wine on the attached list apply to 2014/2015,Prices may increase each year. Items included in this package apply only to weddings booked
for 2014/2015. All prices quoted include VAT. Should the rate of VAT decrease or increase, the prices will also accordingly. We do not apply a service charge. No food
other than the wedding cake may be brought into the hotel for consumption on the premises. It is the policy of the hotel to close the bar at 12.30am. It is possible to apply for
a bar exemption whereby a charge of €450 will apply.
