Annual Farm Tour!
October 24 & 25, 2015
The Tour
Take advantage of this once-a-year event. Twenty-seven local farms are opening their doors
and inviting you to experience farm life. Each farm is offering something special. Families can
enjoy tours that include barnyard animals, farm-fresh goods and refreshments. You can attend
a workshop on beekeeping, take a hayride or talk to farmers who are committed to organic
production. Visit working cattle and goat ranches, a dairy or a winery. And of course, purchase
amazingly fresh goods directly from the farm.
Eat, Drink and Live Local
What’s the best way to ensure the freshest, tastiest, most awesome food? Buy it directly from the
source! Which is why New Leaf Market Co-op proudly carries a large selection of local products.

Sunday, October 25, 2 pm-6 pm
Admission: $4 per person
Aunt Louise’s Farm is located in Jefferson
County, more specifically Waukeenah, Florida.
Our farm is forever growing, expanding and
evolving. About 16 years ago we bought ourselves
a goat. No one told us that a lone goat is an
unhappy goat! So, of course, we had to buy
another one. Then we bought a few chickens so
we could have fresh eggs.
Fast forward to 2015. We now have quite a
menagerie of “critters,” as I like to call them.
Currently, we have 30 or so goats, nine sheep, 14
ducks, five alpacas, five pigs, three guinea fowl,
40+ chickens, 15 rabbits, five zebu cattle, three
dairy cows, two Great Pyrenees, an Australian
Shepherd and a mini horse with a little one by
her side. (And you never know what Aunt Louise
might bring home tomorrow!) We now produce
enough eggs to sell, raise a lot of our own meat,
have enough lard to make soap and sometimes
have our own fresh goat’s milk.
In the fall we open our farm to the public for
about six weeks. For the Farm Tour we are
offering half-price entry to the farm ($4 per
person). You are able to explore the three-acre
corn maze that has lots of scarecrows and silly
signs for entertainment. Additionally we have
homemade jams, jellies, soaps, pound cake in a
jar, fresh pecans (hopefully) and pumpkins. You
may also buy snacks to feed the animals. For
added fun we have a hayride, a barrel train ride
and a corn pit to play in. We will have concessions
for sale: hotdogs, snow cones, corn bread waffles
and drinks.
Directions: From Tallahassee, go east on
Apalachee Pkwy/FL-20 E/US-27 S (toward Perry)
approximately 18 miles. Turn left on Waukeenah
Hwy/CR-259 N. The farm is approximately 1.5
miles on the right.

Bradley Farms is a family-run homestead that
uses sustainable/permaculture practices to raise
Gulf Coast sheep, chickens, heritage rabbits,
dairy goats/cow, and grow organic vegetables,
herbs and fruits. We also craft homemade soaps,
breads and baked goods, herbal vinegars and
jams, which will be for sale along with fresh
herbs, plants, worm castings and bunnies.
After taking a year hiatus, we are back on the
Farm Tour with a host of new plants and animals,
and employing new systems and methods
learned from permaculture design certification.
We have learned a lot about improving soil
quality, composting, and adapting to our local
climate. We look forward to sharing all these
new ideas with you! Our family believes in
sustainability, from treating our land with respect
to sourcing our food from our own property.
Come join our family for a day of sharing
knowledge, ideas and nature.

Workshop: Broadforking Demonstration, 11
am and 2 pm. The broadfork is a tool used
to manually break up densely packed soil to
improve aeration and drainage. It will open and
loosen soil while minimizing damage to the
microorganisms that provide the nutrients for
the garden bed. Farmer Wayne will demonstrate
how to use the broadfork and will offer hands-on
practice for anyone interested in giving it a try.
Our farm is named in honor of our Native
American heritage; Alicia’s great grandmother
was a Creek Indian from south Alabama
and Wayne’s great-great grandmother was a
Cherokee Indian of the eastern band of the
Cherokee Nation. We maintain 100 acres as a
wildlife sanctuary and farm a small area. Our
farming practices are guided by our beliefs in
sustainable agriculture and enduring respect for
the land and its animals. Our farm is Certified
Naturally Grown, a non-governmental organic
certification, which you can learn more about
here: www.naturallygrown.org.
Our farm was developed based on the wide row,
4

raised bed and organic method. No mechanical
tools are used in the farm area; all beds are
prepared by hand with a broadfork. No synthetic
fertilizers, insecticides or herbicides are used.
Beds are composted with chicken manure and
mushroom compost from local farms, and are
mulched with wheat straw. We use a soaker
system to water our crops. We grow heirloom
fruits and vegetables year round with the help of
shade cloth in the summer and frost covers and
a high tunnel in the winter. We sell our produce
through the Red Hills Online Market (www.
rhomarket.com), to select local restaurants and
to local customers by appointment.
Come enjoy a guided tour of the farm. We will
tell you all about our farming practices and the
natural methods we use to attract pollinators and
control pests. Or feel free to wander on your own,
relax under the shade trees with complimentary
homemade lemonade from our lemon trees and
complimentary snacks and lunch throughout the
day. We love to meet folks interested in farming,
so we make every effort to meet and talk with
each of our visitors. We hope to see you here!
Directions: From Tallahassee, take I-10 E to
Madison FL. Take exit 241. Continue north on
US-221 to Greenville. Turn right on US-90. Go
12 miles, then turn left onto NW Pickle Ln. Go

Tours: Ongoing
Clear Lake Farm of Lamont, Florida, INC is a
small 57-acre family farm. Our goal is to live
harmoniously with nature while supplying our
family and friends with healthy, sustainable
foods. We use each animal’s natural abilities to
help us farm. Goats (we have made the switch
to dairy!) are browsers and ours have been busy
clearing the woodlands. Maremma and Great
Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs live with the
goats and piglets to protect them from predators
such as bears and coyotes. We use the pigs’
natural rooting and the chickens’ and turkeys’
foraging to turn and add compost to the soil. Our
guineas are voracious foragers of ticks and bugs—
an all-natural way to control unwanted insects.
Our pasture-fed Bourbon Red turkeys and pigs
are all born and raised on the farm. Order your
own free-range turkey or pork roaster for this
year’s holiday meal. There is nothing quite like
the taste of a pasture-raised bird or roaster.
Walking tours will be ongoing throughout the day
and will include all of the animals and gardens.
Our family has discovered the joys of living and
working in a beautiful, peaceful setting and wish
to share it with you. Farm products available for
sale will include heritage turkeys, broilers, pork,
eggs and goat’s milk and cheese. The lunch
menu will feature our own chicken and pork,
plus other homemade goodies. All animals are
free-range and receive non-medicated feeds and
natural approaches (DE, garlic, etc.) for internal
parasite control. We do not use antibiotics,
synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take Apalachee
Pkwy/US-27 S. Go approximately 27 miles to
Lamont FL. Continue through Lamont (now
called US-27 S/ US-19). Go approximately 3.5
miles. Look for Farm Tour signs. Take a left on
small dirt driveway; sign reads, “Sturm Fair
Land Tr. 15824.” Travel 0.5 mile on driveway and
house/farm will be on the right.

Dickerson Farms (est. 1998) is a sustainable farm
surrounded by rolling hayfields and pinewood.
It is based on the cycles of life—what springs
forth from the ground, falls back to the ground.
Good soil recycles anything and everything—it
can prevent waste and the recycling returns
nutrients back to the soil. We have chickens and
rabbits that break down vegetation that is then
fed to worms (vermiculture) or used directly in
the gardens. The garden grows what is then used
to feed chickens, as well as the rabbits, goats and
us. The worms create a great growing medium
that is mixed with pine bark to create potting soil.
The plants are sold and much returns later as
clippings to be fed to worms, chickens and goats
that are then used to fertilize the soil. Soft drinks,
eggs, jellies, soaps and candles will be for sale.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take US-90 E/
Mahan Dr to merge onto I-10 E. Take exit 217
for FL-59. Keep right at the fork, follow signs
for Lloyd and merge onto FL-59 S/Gamble Rd.

guineas and use Great Pyrenees guardian dogs
to keep the predators away. The seven dogs are
Bucky, Chipper, Mac, Duffy Honey, India and

Roper. They will come to the fence to visit with
you. Maybe there will be some puppies. We never
know.
The goats and sheep are located around the farm
in various pastures and there is always a young
one that likes to be petted. The chickens and
guineas run free (as long as they behave). Please
don’t chase them. It is not a good idea to feed
them either, unless you want to be surrounded by
30 or 40 while you are trying to eat your lunch.
We have a hayride with a tour of the pastures and
the Mayhaw stand. The trees will be shedding
their leaves by this time getting ready for the
winter sleep. Other local farmers and producers
join us to showcase the diversity and charm of
country life. Blacksmiths, soap makers, jewelry
artists will join us and sell their wares along with
wool products, jellies, jams, baked goods, plants,
honey, eggs if the chickens are cooperating and
who knows what all else. There will be a sample
or two of Mayhaw jelly if you want to try it.
There is plenty of parking and a picnic area.
We’ll accommodate anyone needing special
assistance. We encourage guests to wear sturdy
shoes. I try to headquarter at the Wool Handling
Tent. Stop by and say hello.

Love’s Labor Farm is a 40-acre farm located at
the eastern edge of Liberty County, Florida. We
produce pastured poultry and pork for ourselves
and for others who want to consume meat as a
part of their diet, but who are concerned about
the ethical implications of large-scale meat
production and about the health implications
of consuming meat raised on diets that include
growth hormones and antibiotics. Our customers
are people who think about their food, where it
comes from, how it is raised and the effect that its
consumption will have on their overall health.
In addition, we have a blueberry patch, thornless
blackberries and several other fruit trees. Walking
tours will be available throughout the day. We
will have fun activities for the kids including
horseshoes, animals to visit, a nature craft and
a working hand-pumped well (always a favorite
of our young visitors). Plenty of photo ops are
available.
Our farm has easy access on all paved roads with
plenty of parking. Farm products available for
sale will include pastured broilers, free-range
pork, pastured eggs, cane syrup, homemade
jams, jellies, and pickles. We’ll also have sausage
dogs available for a delicious breakfast or lunch
with baked goods for dessert.

Millstone Institute of Preservation is a farm in
the midst of re-emergence and resurrection
with more and more available every season.
Since last year we have raised funds to begin
the needed repairs to the farmhouse and can
begin creating teaching spaces for our variety of
artisans. This 100-acre pristine property located
in North Leon County is exquisite. Our mission
is tri-fold: to honor the legacy and beauty of the
land, to preserve and protect the water(s) and to
celebrate and nurture the spirit.
The Millstone Institute’s most exciting challenge
is to continue to develop and expand our Folk
School offering intensive classes in the old
arts/artisan skills. Come, walk the breathtaking
property, see the sheep, llamas and burro and
watch demonstrations of weaving, pottery and
blacksmithing. Products made by our various
artisans—woven items, pottery, woodwork,
artwork—and organic lunch items, healthy
cookies and snacks will be available for sale.
Directions: From Tallahassee, travel north on
Thomasville Rd/US-319. Pass Kerry Forest Pkwy
and Walmart on your left. Prepare to turn left on
to Millstone Plantation Rd. Follow this road and
do not turn left into neighborhood, but proceed
on dirt road, which leads directly to our entrance
gate where you will be shown where to park.

Monticello Vineyards & Winery is a small, Florida
farm winery located on the 50-acre farm of
Ladybird Organics. Situated in the Red Hills bioregion of Jefferson County, Florida, the winery
features wines made from organic Muscadine
grapes. The farm and all vineyards are USDA
Certified Organic. A walking farm tour of this
unique, integrated organic farm system will be
offered every hour-and-a-half.
Over 18 different varieties of Muscadine
grapes are grown on site. Small batches of
handcrafted wines are manufactured, reflecting
the unique soils and sunshine of each vintage
year, and the holistic organic farming system
being implemented on the farm. Each wine
is a one-of-a-kind product of place, labeled
with the classic Jefferson County Courthouse
and the ingredients—organic grapes. Wines
are distinctly Muscadine and include the white
varietals of Carlos, Magnolia and Triumph. The
red varietal Ison produces our fabulous Florida
Red. Wines are available in both semi-sweet and
dry. Monticello Vineyards & Winery invites and
welcomes visitors to our farm and winery for
tastings and sales of our wines.
Farm products for sale: worms, worm bedding,
worm castings that qualify for USDA organic
operations, organic potting soil, potted grape
vines, other flowering/fruiting plants and trees
like flowering cotton roses and butterfly weed.
Note: all nursery stock is propagated organically
on site and certified by the Florida Department of
Agriculture Division of Plant Industry.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take Apalachee

for Monticello Vineyards & Winery with a grape
bunch and an arrow pointing left. Turn left as
indicated on the sign, on CR-259/Waukeenah

the right at 1211 Waukeenah Hwy. A sign for

Myrtle Creek Farm is a blueberry and blackberry
farm. We started growing berries about 10 years
ago. We have 22 acres, but are growing on about
five. Eleven years ago, as a firefighter, I started
thinking about something to grow on the farm
when I retired. Walking through our virgin woods
and wetlands I noticed wild blueberries and
realized that was the answer—blueberries! And
that was correct. We had our soil tested and it was
perfect for berries. We use organic practices and
our berries are delicious. In addition to berries,
we have lots of fun with hayrides, bonfires and
parties at the barn. You will enjoy touring the
farm with Joda our tour guide and sitting for
a spell to have a sausage dog and a bluebird
cupcake. We look forward to seeing you. Bluebird
cupcakes, blueberry syrup and more will be for
sale. Come tour our farm and have breakfast or
lunch. Limestone Meathouse sausage dogs and
firehouse beans will also be available for lunch.
Bring your cooler if you would like to purchase
frozen berries picked from this year’s crop. See
you there!
Directions: From Tallahassee, take Apalachee
Pky to Capital Cir, turn right on Capital Cir going
south. Turn left on Tram Rd just past Southwood,
and continue 12.7 miles. Myrtle Creek Farm will
be on the left. If you Google directions, it will say,

Six years ago, we at Ocheesee Creamery decided
to process our own milk on our farm. We do
it the old-fashioned way—pasteurized, but
not homogenized—resulting in a whole milk
with cream on the top that’s easier to digest.
Ocheesee is also one of the few dairies that sells
its milk in glass bottles. Did you know milk tastes
better in glass, it is better for the environment
and it’s nostalgic? Ocheesee also produces fresh
farm butter, the only dairy in Florida to do so.
You will be able to purchase: milk, butter, cream,
yogurt, cheese, ice cream and the best chocolate
milk! Oh, so delicious!
When you visit you will see where we milk the
cows and process our dairy products. You will
also see our animals and what it is like to be on
the farm. You will be able to taste our whole, skim
or chocolate milk.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take I-10 W to exit
152. Continue on FL-69 S towards Blountstown
for approximately 4 miles south. Entrance is on
the left. Sign at the road reads, “Shady Nook

O’Toole’s Herb Farm is located in beautiful
Madison, Florida. The farm opened for business
in 1990, but the land has been in B’s family since

and herb plants will be for sale. Also visit Janet

Twin Oaks Farm is a Certified Organic 94-acre
farm located in Holmes County, Florida. We raise
heritage chickens, ducks, lambs and hogs on
pasture, the old-fashioned way. At the farm we
produce a whole line of artisan food using only
organic and/or local ingredients. Our production
is small and authentic, the taste of real food.
On the day of the Farm Tour you will have a
closer look at what we do and how we do it, from
our thriving apiary, using smaller bees, to our
incredible Cochons Noir de Bonifay, a unique allpastured pork from our Rhode Island Red hens
(producing the #1 eggs in the country, according
to the Cornucopia Institute Eggs Score Card), to
our gentle Gulf Coast sheep and how our donkeys
are keeping everyone safe. We will show you
how organic, sustainable farming raises healthy
animals, giving them the space and the life they
are supposed to have. Ducks, chickens, sheep
and hogs will be roaming freely on pasture and
be picture-ready.
Stop at our unique Bistro under the oak and savor
some delicious, all-organic and farm-produced
food. Our shop will be open with a whole
cornucopia of goodies including certified organic
and soy-free eggs, chickens, lamb, pork and a
whole line of artisan food. Bring a cooler as our
meat products will be fresh.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take I-10W to exit
112 (Bonifay). Turn right, going north, on SR 79.
Keep going north for 8 miles, until the small
bridge with the kids’ playground on your left (the
corner of Creek Rd). Turn left into Creek Rd, and
go 300 yards to the first concrete driveway on
your right.
