HOT OFF THE PRESS
ANNOUNCING!
Pinot Gris 2016 by Logan
Grown in the cold-climate of Orange, NSW to commemorate Logan’s 20th vintage and named after the sweet
daughter of Peter Logan and his wife. The copper hue is
drawn from the natural colour of the grape skins.
“Bright and rich aromes of poached pear, orange rind, florals, spices, and walnuts with stone fruit, orange, quince
and guava flavours. A distinct tang along with a silky texture and velvety tannins.”

NEWEST ADDITION
‘San Martino’ Prosecco DOC
Treviso Extra Dry
Introducing our first ever prosecco from the San Martins in Veneto, Italy. Founded on the ancient church of
San Martino Vescova, parts of the stonework are still
being uncovered throughout the vineyards.
“Fine and elegant with aromas of apple and banana, to
the palate this extra dry is pleasantly full and harmonious. Excellent as an aperitif and a great accompaniment to fish, pasta and rice dishes”
THE FRENCH
CONNECTION
‘Pierre et Papa’
High quality, well-balanced white, reds
and roses made from grapes sourced
throughout Southern France, with a nostalgic
feel influenced by old French advertising
ephemera.
WINERY FOCUS
Situated outside the beautiful
village of Richmond in the
Coal River Valley, southern
Tasmania, the property
dates back to 1813 when, as
part of the larger Carrington
Park, it was granted by
Governor Macquarie to the
future Governor Davey.
Since the first vines were planted in 1973, the Coal River has become firmly
established among Australia’s most prestigious cool climate wine regions and
by the 1990’s, there was already a growing understanding throughout Asia
that Tasmania meant quality: quality of produce, quality of air, quality of water,
quality of life.
Wang Shan and her family saw the potential to turn this quality into something
that would truly connect Tasmania with their home of Tianjin in northern
China…a way of bringing the best of Tasmania to China and, in return, bringing
some of the magic and excitement of China back here. So, in 1999, they
purchased Nocton Park and began to plant the vineyard, predominantly to
pinot noir and chardonnay.

Range, please refer to page

Pierre et Papa is a
new range of wines
sourced from premium
regions in Southern
France. Drawing on
the fanciful history
of the Renard family,
the
wines
reflect
the personality and
passion of the vine
growers,
Pierre
Renard and his father.
Pierre et Papa recalls the touching story
of a father and son brought together by
their abiding love and respect for the
vines that they have tended for decades.
A label inspired by old French advertising
ephemera sets off this new classic range of
delicious, easy drinking wines. A compact
range of high quality, well balanced whites,
reds and roses made from grapes sourced
through Southern France. Pierre et Papa’s
nostalgic feel is very much in tune with the
desire to seek out honest value.
To see the Pierre et Papa range, please refer to page 23 of the portfolio.
DESIGN & PRINT SERVICES
Specialised Wine Labels, Wine Lists,
Menus and more...
Bacchant offers
our potfolio of
a range
boutique
of premium cleanskin wines, sourced from
vineyards - emphasising quality and value.
Wine labels have a sense of place and time and tradition. In the early days, most
labels were austere, rectangular one or two colour affairs featuring illustrations
of chateaus and bold declarations of the names of the wineries. Now, wine
labels burst from the shelves with bold colours and torn, warped shapes often
peering through the bottle itself. They are festooned with colorful animals,
layered with screens and hidden motifs, they are a printer’s history of fonts.
We can then provide the following services free of charge, with no contractual obligation:
• Original label design by our inhouse graphic designer using your existing logo and/
or branded images into a contemporary wine label design that is completely unique
to your business.
• All clean-skins are of top quality from top quality regions and the bottles are labelled
with the approved design by Bacchant before delivery.
• Bacchant can also design menus and wine lists for your establishment - elements
which can only enhance your business.

ANT MOORE

Marlborough, NZ
“The production of this estate wine brand is the culmination of many years
hard work and the realization of a dream. I moved to New Zealand in 2002
and since then have undertaken every task required to make wine. I planted
a bare block and developed a number of vineyards, bought a winery and
built it up, created a number of successful wine brands and now with benefit
of hard earned experience, I can now launch my signature wine ‘ant moore’.
I wasn’t sure about putting my name on the front of a bottle. It seemed a bit
too egocentric, but faced with the prospect of naming a wine after another
tree, river, rock or mountain and when trying to define what made my wine
unique, my name seemed a fair choice. I have control over every aspect of
the production, from managing my vines to harvesting the fruit to processing
the wine. I’m not afraid to try new and different approaches and to push the
boundaries, to me that’s what making wine is all about ... constantly learning
and having fun.”

Orange/Mudgee, NSW
‘Druim nan deur’ is Scottish Gaelic for ‘Ridge of Tears’, the old Logan clan war
cry and the face on the label personifies Peter Logan’s great ancestors.
Ridge of Tears showcases two shiraz wines from Mudgee and Orange. The range
demonstrates the great quality of these regions, especially in shiraz, showing how
good they can be and just how different they are. The wines are savoury with
depth and intensity.
“...They seem to be doing everything right: The wines are excellent across
the board, the prices are realistic. An example of a winery with a big future...”

Yarra Valley, VIC
Squitchy Lane Vineyards is located in the Gruyere/Coldstream area of
Victoria’s famous Yarra Valley. Its near neighbours include Coldstream Hills,
Yarra Yering and Medhurst vineyards. The area is slightly cooler than the
Yarra floor but warmer that than the higher altitude vineyards of the Upper
Yarra. The vineyard was first planted in the late 1970s and in 2004 a decision
was made to begin production of a small range of premium wines with
the varieties most suited to the vineyard site. Great efforts are made in the
vineyard to ensure the minimum intervention is necessary in the winery. The
end result is a group of wines that are balanced, harmonious and graceful,
with full flavour development at low alcohol levels so the wines can refresh
as well as sustain the soul.

Languedoc and Comte Tolosan, France
Inspired by the fanciful tales of Pierre Renard and his father, Pierre et Papa is
a compact range of high quality, well balanced whites, reds and roses made
from grapes sourced through Southern France. With packaging influenced by old
French advertising ephemera, Pierre et Papa’s nostalgic feel is very much in tune
with the desire to seek out honest value.
Dry White
From selected plots on clay and limestone soils in the area of Comté Tolosan
around Toulouse in Gascony. This area benefits hugely from the influence of
the Atlantic, giving freshness and acidity and making it perfect for white wine
production.
Dry Rose and Dry Red
From selected plots across the Languedoc. In this sunny corner of France grapes
can ripen to full maturity and express great varietal character. The sandy limestone
and clay soils ensure naturally low yields, the perfect conditions for producing
rich, concentrated, ripe grapes.

MONDILLO
bacchantwines.com.au | 23
Central Otago, NZ
Passion for his vineyard, an inherent love of the environment, and a desire to
produce exquisite wines year after year.. these are the driving forces behind
Domenic Mondillo.
Central Otago has a distinct semi-continental climate, found nowhere else
in New Zealand. It is one of the hottest, coldest and driest regions in New
Zealand. Domenic Mondillo selected the Bendigo property, after years of
vineyard developments throughout Central Otago, being the warmest site in
the coolest region. Domenic believes this is the key to consistently ripening
Pinot Noir and Riesling, where tannin structure is developed and the complexity
if found in wine. Once the grapes arrive at the winery, the winemaking is very
‘hands off’ with minimal intervention. All Mondillo grapes are de-stemmed and
quality French Oak barrels are used for the Pinot Noir.

Friuli and Veneto, Italy
‘VALLE VITI’S’ PINOT GRIGIO Friuli, Italy
Once part of the Venetian Republic and with sections under the influence of the AustroHungarian Empire for some time, the wines of the North-Eastern Italian region of FriuliVenezia have noticeable Slavic and Germanis influences. The climate is distinguished
with very warm days and chilly nights that help maintain a balance in the grape between
acidity and sugar levels and allows the grapes a long, slow growing season.
“The white grapes of this naturalised French variety are harvested by hand in the vineyards on
the eastern Friuli hills. The dry wine has a complex aroma with roses, acacia blossom, apricot
and hints of walnut and spices. Smooth and persistent on the palate with evident perception of
tropical fruit”
‘SAN MARTINO’ PROSECCO Veneto, Italy
Founded in the 1960’s, the ancient church of San Martino Vescova from the 9th - 11th
century stood here, and today parts of the ancient church are still being uncovered in
the vineyard.
“The Prosecco DOC San Martino has an intense nose that is almost aromatic, but always
fine and elegant, recalling apple and banana. To the palate, Extra Dry is pleasantly full and
harmonious. Excellent as an aperitif and a great accompaniment to fish, pasta and rice dishes”

vineyards has enabled them to develop world-class grapes used to produce
the high quality wines that they sell around the world today. Combining
traditional winemaking methods with state-ofthe-art technology ensures
their exceptional wine quality.
Because exceptional things, wine in particular, cannot be improvised, they waited 50
years from the first planting in 1945 before selling their first bottle, L’Avi Arrufi 1995.
Some of their wines are a tribute to the efforts of their ancestors and are named in
their honor.

Coal River, Tasmania
Situated outside the beautiful village of Richmond in the Coal River Valley, southern
Tasmania, the property dates back to 1813 when, as part of the larger Carrington
Park, it was granted by Governor Macquarie to the future Governor Davey.
Since the first vines were planted in 1973, the Coal River has become firmly
established among Australia’s most prestigious cool climate wine regions and
by the 1990’s, there was already a growing understanding throughout Asia that
Tasmania meant quality: quality of produce, quality of air, quality of water, quality
of life.
Wang Shan and her family saw the potential to turn this quality into something
that would truly connect Tasmania with their home of Tianjin in northern China…a
way of bringing the best of Tasmania to China and, in return, bringing some of
the magic and excitement of China back here. So, in 1999, they purchased
Nocton Park and began to plant the vineyard, predominantly to pinot noir and
chardonnay.
All of the wines today are produced exclusively from fruit grown on this vineyard.
The Estate range is designed to show off Nocton Vineyard’s specific flavours and
characters. With little or no oak, they let the 200 million year old soils do the
talking.

CHAMPAGNE GARDET Montagne de Reims, France
Champagne Gardet is a medium sized and family-owned company that was
created in 1895, when Charles Gardet founded his establishment in Epernay.
In the 1930s, Georges Gardet, son of the founder, moved to Chigny-les-Roses,
a premier Cru-ranked village in the heart of the “Montagne de Reims”, with a
very precise aim: to develop the Champagne Gardet brand, whilst continuing
to supply wines of unimpeachable quality.
To do so, he based his method on the secular champagne making rules: a
high-quality grapes supply and a wine making process fully oriented toward
excellence. This purpose and the respect of tradition are still at the heart of
the current owners’ preoccupations: the PRIEUX family. Deeply attached
to their roots, the Champagne region, the family has been working in the
arboricultural and agricultural sectors for years; passing on their love for
their land from generation to generation.
Champagne Gardet is the 20th House of Champagne (in volume), with an
annual production of approx. 1 million bottles. The greatest care is taken to
produce high quality products by leaving the champagnes on the lies in the
vaulted cellars for the longest possible (way over the legal requirement) and
by being one of the few Houses still using oak barrels to age part of the reserve
wines.
