Welcome to Imagine Housing’s 2016 Annual Benefit Dinner & Auction!
Thank you for being here. Your presence tonight demonstrates your commitment to
our mission, to your communities, and to the people we serve. If you look around you
tonight, you will find yourself amidst passionate supporters of a truly diverse, inclusive,
and accessible Eastside. The group of supporters here tonight, and the dedication
they have shown to these issues, makes us confident that together, we can make true
progress in the years ahead.
We have so much to celebrate and look forward to in 2016. Our latest community,
Athene, will break ground this summer, providing 91 affordable new homes for seniors
who are being priced out of the housing market on the Eastside. Moreover, 20 of those
units will be set aside for our most vulnerable homeless seniors. It is your support and
generosity that have made Athene possible, and that will enable 91 senior households
to remain in the communities they call home.
While Athene will make a tremendous impact in our community, we know the
demand for affordable housing is only growing. Imagine Housing’s combined waitlists
at our affordable housing communities grew 18% from last year, now totaling 2,634
unduplicated households, while the Eastside continues to experience an ever-growing
homeless population. The 2016 One Night Count, held in January, identified an 83%
increase in the number of unsheltered individuals on the Eastside over the prior year. It
is not acceptable that so many cannot afford a place to live.
The increasing cost of housing is a growing social problem influencing health outcomes,
educational success, contributing to gridlock on the roads and impacting the local
economy. Hardly a week goes by without the issue of housing or homelessness making
the news in some fashion. With your support, Imagine Housing is in a position to lead
our community’s response to this issue, bringing us closer to realizing our vision of an
Eastside with interconnected and welcoming communities where all people can live,
learn, work and play.

Dessert Frenzy
Once again, Imagine Housing will host a Dessert Frenzy during the
Live Auction, where several decadent desserts will be auctioned
off in rapid succession.
During this year’s Dessert Frenzy, you will have the opportunity
to win a delicious, gourmet dessert to share with your table. Each
dessert serves 10 - 12.
At the end of the final Dessert Frenzy, the Meydenbauer’s
Chocolate Royale and Genoise with Mixed Berries will be delivered
to each table.

Auction Protocol
• Each guest will be given a “giving” (bid) number upon arrival.
This number is your only means of identification for bidding;
please keep it throughout the evening.
• A
signature or verbal bid during the Auction constitutes a legal contract
to buy. All sales are final and there will be no exchanges or refunds. In
all cases of dispute, the decision of Imagine Housing is final.
• P
lease pay attention to all conditions, restrictions, and expiration
dates on items and services. Except where noted by the donor,
services, tickets, certificate items, etc. must be used within one year of
the Auction and are subject to mutually agreed upon times and dates.
• No refunds will be made for cancelled tickets and accommodations.
• I magine Housing reserves the right to withdraw any item for sale prior
to the call for bids.
• P
lease write your “giving” number and name on the sheet
associated with each Silent Auction item you want to bid on.
If an entry is illegible, the next legible entry will be used.
• T he amount listed on the top line of each bid sheet is the minimum
bid. Items may be bid up from that amount by increments noted on
each bid sheet. A bidder must meet or exceed the minimum bid and
must bid by the proper increment to win that item.
• Except for “priceless” items, bidders may guarantee a successful
purchase if they are willing to pay the item’s guaranteed bid price.
To achieve this, enter your bid number on the bottom line of the bid
sheet, circle the guaranteed bid price, and sign the sheet.
• F ollowing the closing of a Silent Auction table, you may check to
determine if you are the successful bidder of an item. However, please
do not remove the item or any part of the bid sheet at that time.

• If you are the successful bidder, please pick up your items after the
Live Auction. All items must be removed from The Meydenbauer at
the close of the Auction.
• P
ayment must be made in full on the evening of the Auction; cash,
checks, MasterCard, Visa and American Express will be accepted.
• L ooking for shorter lines? This year we are continuing the “express”
check-in/check-out process. At check-in, you may elect to have us
swipe your credit card. At check-out, you simply pick up your items
and you’re good to go!
Warranties
Imagine Housing has attempted to catalog and describe each Auction
item correctly based on information provided by the donor. However,
all items are sold “as is, where is.” Imagine Housing neither warrants
nor represents, and in no case shall be responsible for, the correctness,
descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or condition of
any of the Auction items. No statement contained in the catalog or
made orally at the Auction or elsewhere shall be deemed to be such a
representation or warranty.
Tax Deductibility
The amount of the purchase of an Auction item that is deductible for
federal income tax purposes is limited to the excess of the purchase
price of the Auction item over the fair market value of the item. Where
possible, Imagine Housing has asked donors to provide a good faith
estimate of the fair market value of each Auction item. Unless otherwise
noted in the catalog, no Auction item has been formally appraised in
arriving at the estimate of fair market value. Please consult your tax
advisor with any questions you may have regarding your ability to take
a tax deduction.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the differences between various Auctions?
LIVE AUCTION • This is what most people think of when they hear the
word “auction.” The auctioneer directs the Live Auction during dinner
and guests raise their bid cards to participate.
SILENT AUCTION • This is similar to a Live Auction, but without an
auctioneer directing the bidding. Each Silent Auction table has bid
sheets that correspond to items on that table. You enter your “giving”
(bid) number on an item’s bid sheet at the price you are willing to pay.
If someone outbids you, you may bid again until the closing time.
What is a guaranteed bid?
You can guarantee a successful purchase of a Silent Auction item if you
are the first to commit to the guaranteed bid price at the bottom of an
item’s bid sheet. Enter your bid number on the bottom line of the bid
sheet for that item, circle the guaranteed bid price and sign the sheet.
Why aren’t all of my receipts in my envelope?
The closing of an Auction is a chaotic process. Volunteers do everything
they can to ensure that you leave with all of your receipts. About a
week after the event, we will mail you a receipt for all of your evening’s
purchases, along with your credit card receipt if you elected to use
express pay.

Northwest Bounty Dinner with
Martedi Wines
The Pacific Northwest has so much to offer, especially from a culinary and wine
perspective. The Moes and Longs will treat you and your five guests to an evening that
will feature the freshest ingredients from across our region thoughtfully paired with
wines by winemaker Joseph Miglino from Martedi Winery.
The evening begins with passed hors d’oeuvres spotlighting cheeses, breads, produce
and seafood from the region. Dinner will be prepared on a hardwood charcoal fire
and will feature Northwest grown meats. Market fresh vegetables, artisan breads and
savory side dishes will complete dinner. The meal concludes with a delicious dessert
featuring seasonal fruits.

Vintage 2005
Three bottles of 2005 Grand Ciel Cabernet Sauvignon from DeLille Cellars. The grapes
for this wine came from DeLille’s Grand Ciel Vineyard in the Red Mountain AVA. The
wine is a blend of three French clones of Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaker’s
notes report that this wine has power-packed layers of black fruits and an entire rack
of spices. This wine is a “vin de garde” Cabernet Sauvignon that combines a purity of
fruit, with cassis, black fruits, and a bramble berry, sauvage youthfulness. Rated 94 by
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, which gave a drinking window of 2013-2025 when the
wine was last tasted.
