Beginner Knit

This class is perfect for the person who has never knit or who needs a refresher
course. You will learn to cast on, knit, purl, switch stitches and bind off. Be fairly
warned – Knitting may be addictive!
Supplies:
 US 8 or 9 needle – circulars: 24” or 32” or straights
 worsted weight yarn, free – included in the cost of the class.
 stitch markers
Homework: Please come to class with needles, stitch markers, and with
yarn wound (if needed).

Baby Yoked Cardigan

Description: This is the perfect little cardigan to keep baby nice and warm on the
brisk mornings and cool evenings. Wearing it open will give baby a little warmth
and buttoning it up will keep baby nice and toasty!

Materials: “Yoked Cardigan” by Hannah Fettig on Ravelry, $5.95 can also be

200-1500 Yards of worsted weight yarn (sample made with 1 skein Plymouth
Worsted Superwash), size 8 24” or larger circular needles, stitch markers, 2 ¾”
buttons.

Picot Edge Baby Blanket

Description: Knit This Blanket in any bright color you please, it will bring an extra
spark of joy and light to babies eyes. This is an easy garter-stitch blanket with an
added picot edge to dress it up. A great pattern for beginner knitters. The pattern
give you a choice from DK weight yarn to Chunkey weight yarn.
Prerequisite: Must be proficient with basic knitting stitches, casting-on, binding off,
and knit stitch. You will learn how to increase and decrease.
Materials: Purchase the Churchmouse “Picot-Edge Baby Blanket & Washcloth”
from Ravelry, $5.00 or available at Knit This, Purl That, quantities limited. Yardage
of yarn depends on weight of yarn chosen as well as needle size. Your choice of
needle must be 29” or longer.

Diagonal Lace Scarf & Wrap

This is a great project for new knitters. It is an easy to learn lace pattern. The pattern creates a
diagonal line of eyelet holes that lean to the right. Once you have knitted the repeated pattern a
few times you will be able to know if you are off kilter. You will learn to read the clues left by
your knitting telling you what to do next so you can stop counting and reading the pattern. This
is a good start for learning to knit lace.
Must know: how to cast on, cast off, knit, purl
What you will learn: how to read a pattern, technique, knitting continentally
Materials needed: “Diagonal Lace Scarf & Wrap” by Churchmouse(purchased through
Ravelry.com, $5.00 or Knit This Purl That), approximately 680 yards fingering weight or 425 yards
sport weight yarn, US 6 needle for fingering weight yarn or US 8 needle for sport weight yarn,
stitch markers,.
Homework: cast on as instructed by pattern and knit three rows

Socks the Old Fashioned Way

Sock knitting has become a beautiful art that has continued to gain world-wide
popularity. By taking one of our sock classes you will learn to make those beautiful
socks you’ve always wanted! Gwen has been instructing knitting in the area for
several years and has mastered the art of traditional sock instruction on double
pointed needles.
Supplies:
US size 2 double point needles

Three Tams
Instructor: Gwen
Level: Intermediate
Cost: $60
Intimidated by changing colors? Don’t be. This Tam pattern is a beginner’s way of
learning Fair Isle knitting. Using a variegated yarn as the contrast color, you are
able to achieve the effect of a more complicated Fair Isle pattern by using just the
same two strands from cast on to bind off! The pattern calls for Worsted Weight
yarn but can be knitted in DK as well.
What you will learn: Tam shaping, fair isle on 2 fingers, corrugated rib, chart
reading and possibly downsizing the pattern to make for a little one!
Materials needed: Print out free “Three Tams” pattern from Knitty.com. 2 skeins
of either worsted or DK weight yarn. One in a variegated (long variegations) color
and one solid. One pair US size 4, 16” circular needle, one pair US size 6, 24”
circular needle, one set US size 6 double pointed needles, stitch markers and
tapestry needle.
Homework: With size 4 needle, cast on 96 stitches.

on Ravelry, 200 yards light fingering weight yarn (sample made with one skein of Mini Mochi), US
size D crochet hook, 6 ½” buttons, markers, darning needle.

Erika Knight Baby Leg Warmers

Color Stacked Cowl

Tired of having your hand painted yarn stripe and pool, and not look like anything you envisioned
when you purchased it? Learn how to control your color knitting instead of having it control you.
In this class we will learn to knit a beautiful color stacked cowl using the Magic Number method
developed by Laura Bryant. This brilliantly simple cowl takes great advantage of the gorgeous
colors in hand – dyed yarns. Colors stack upon themselves in slightly wavering columns, and as
each new color arrives you change from stockinette to reverse stockinette, making the cowl
reversible and providing a lovely lettuce-leaf edge.
Prerequisite: Know how to cast on, knit and purl.
Supplies: One skein of hand painted Prism Madison or Valhalla yarn. Select colors with more
contrast for easier knitting. One US 9, 5.5mm 20-24” circular needle, Prism 7501 Color Stacked
Cowl pattern.

yarn. For the two color version, 500 yards of main color and 400 yards of contrasting color, US
