Individual down fibers are infused with a permanent water repellency that helps retain loft and maintain insulating performance even when exposed to moisture. The Comfort of Merino, the Performance of Polypropylene Exclusive to Mountain Hardwear, Wick.Q Wool a wool/polypropylene blend that dries quickly and wicks efficiently like a synthetic. It also provides the consistent warmth of natural wool, making it the perfect fabric for primary layering. Plus, it’s machine washable. mountainhardwear.com/tqe Ounce for Ounce, the Warmest Synthetic Insulation Ever Made Thermal.Q Elite is designed to mimic the structure of down. It uses stiff fibers to create a unique 3D grid structure and fine fibers to fill in the gaps the structure creates. The result is synthetic insulation that is almost 15% warmer for its weight than the nearest competitor with better compression rebound. They watched through freezing mist as Emmett swung 500 feet above the ground, negotiating 30 foot icicles, mixed rock and horrifying overhangs. The cold is a given. Then, there’s wind and water from spray and runoff. There’s snow, sleet, freezing rain and falling ice. Climbers are sweating at peak aerobic max one minute and standing stationary on belay the next. Solutions to the needs of the extreme ice climbers can be translated to every outdoor athlete, from winter mountaineers to winter travelers. Our team worked with Emmett and competition ice climber Dawn Glanc to create the ultimate winter weather systems for the worst possible combination of conditions. There were brands with the performance and technology they needed to survive on big mountains. And there were brands with the fit and style they wanted to wear. But none that combined the two. Mountain Hardwear took on snow sports with a simple goal: bring the performance of our legendary mountaineering apparel to the world of big mountain skiing. We took the fit and feel of skiwear and infused it with the exclusive technologies that set us apart.
