Innsbruck - Tyrol
The picturesque mountain town of Innsbruck, Tyrol
province, is renowned for the colourful buildings and
ornate architecture that populate the Old Town streets,
all with stunning views of the surrounding mountain
landscape.
Less than 10 minutes away is Patscherkofel mountain
which boasts 18km of fantastic pistes, having previously
hosted the Winter Olympics. Patscherkofel is also well
known for its amazing views, overlooking Innsbruck and
the surrounding mountains.
The centre of town has plenty of shops, restaurants and
bars which attract visitors throughout the summer and
winter seasons. The Northern Chain mountains, which
create the scenic backdrop to Innsbruck, include the
Axamer Lizum ski resort, which can be reached within
30 minutes from the city centre, featuring 40km of pistes
and excellent winter sports facilities, ideal for adrenaline
seekers!
Innsbruck is less than 10 minutes from the airport, making
this charming city an ideal retreat for those looking for
a weekend getaway. Innsbruck train station also makes
travelling by rail convenient, with connections from
Munich and Zurich available.

Axamer Lizum Ski Resort - 40km skiing
Winter & Skiing
32km of skiing nearby
The nearby pistes of Patscherkofel, celebrating the 50
year anniversary of hosting the 1964 Winter Olympic
games this year, offers 18km of high standard pistes at
an altitude of over 2000m, with 10km of blue runs and
8km of red. The Patscherkofel slopes are well known
for their fantastic views over Innsbruck, which is just
10 minutes’ away. A modern snow making system on
these pistes guarantees snow-sure slopes throughout
the winter season.
For those looking for wider variety on the ski pistes, as
well as over 7km of cross country skiing, many visitors
staying in Innsbruck make use of the Axamer Lizum ski
resort, which is under 30 minutes’ drive from Innsbruck
town centre. From November to May, the 40km of
high altitude slopes and snow making systems ensure
fantastic, well prepared pistes for skiiers of all abilities.
A further 14km of pistes are available from the Seegrube
ski lift, just over 10 minutes’ drive north of Innsbruck.
These slopes are suited to more advanced skiiers with
1km of blue, 8km red and 5km of black runs. Seegrude
has become well known for its ideal snowboarding
conditions, attracting enthusiasts who can also take
advantage of the Hafelekarrinne, one of the steepest
ski runs in Europe. With a gradient of 70%, this run is
reserved for experts.
The resort also features a snow park, racing trail, half
pipe and spectacular natural jumps for more experienced
skiiers, as well as 21km of red and 2km of black runs.
For the less experienced there are 7km of blue runs.
Innsbruck is a great resort for those wanting to combine
city life with a ski resort, as it takes just a few minutes
to get from the town to the high Alpine area.

Over 200km of skiing - seefeld & Kuhtai
For a greater choice of pistes, the fantasic ski resort
of Seefeld just under 30 minutes away. Seefeld is the
Mecca of cross-country skiing. This Olympic region offers
over 200km of award winning, perfectly groomed trails,
154km of classic cross-country runs and 122km of skating
runs, in addition to a 3km night track. Seefeld is one of
the best places in Europe for beginner and intermediate
skiing with 39km of downhill skiing, including 27km of
blue runs and 11km of red runs.
The surrounding ski area of Gschwandtkopf is a perfect
place for beginners to practice and intermediates will find
more challenging pistes in the Rosshütte/Härmelekopf
area. Other winter sports available include tobogganing,
ice skating, curling, ice climbing, snow rafting and
swimming plus there are 142km of winter hiking paths.
Also close by is the Kuhtai resort, which offers an additional
44km of downhill pistes just 35 minutes’ from Innsbruck;
7km of blue, 29km of red and 8km of black runs.

Après-ski
Innsbruck has a variety of bars and restaurants that can
entertain you well into the winter nights. The city is home
to the well known Igloo Cloud 9 bar, the largest igloo bar
in the Alps and the ideal place to meet for a leisurely
drink after a long day on the slopes. The bar also hosts
legendary parties which attract visitors throughout the
winter season.
If you prefer the relaxed approach, the nearby Seegrube
area has a range of high altitude restaurants with terrific
panoramic views of the city below, serving Tyrolean
delicacies. There are also a variety of restaurants and
bars within Innsbruck town centre if you prefer to explore
the local nightlife.

Summer Activities
Summer
Despite Innsbruck’s reputation as a winter resort, it is
also a great summertime destination thanks to warm
temperatures and the great variety of activities on offer.
Innsbruck boasts pretty shops and cafes in its Old Town
and impressive mountain restaurants at high altitudes,
both within half an hour of each other. The medieval town
centre is facinating to explore in the summer months.
With it’s iconic colourful buildings, head to Maria Theresia
Street for the amazing baroque architecture.
Other exciting activities include camping, hiking and
signposted mountain biking routes. An 18-hole golf
course with fantastic Alpine views, and a challenging
9-hole course are both available at the Innsbruck-Igls
golf club.
Less than 30 minutes’ away is Austria’s largest nature
reserve, Karwendel Alpine Park. The park is ideal for
those interested in learning about the local flora and
fauna, with special hikes and natures tours taking place
throughout the summer months.
