Entry Level
Handgun Orientation (1 day)
For responsible citizens who need an introductory level course
providing the knowledge and skills necessary to safely handle,
load, fire and unload common types of semi-automatic pistols
and revolvers.
Handgun Orientation for Women (1 day)
Same as above, for women only.
Basic Practical Handgun Skills (1 day)
An intensive course that teaches the student the shooting
fundamentals of how to handle and operate a handgun
and associated equipment. This course is equally applicable
to the sport, recreational, competitive, or self-defense
oriented individual.
Basic Practical Handgun Skills for Women (1 day)
Same as above, for women only.
Defensive Rifle (2 days)
Obtain personal defense training with a rifle or pistol caliber
semiautomatic carbine. This course encompasses zeroing,
precision shooting fundamentals and defensive applications at
close range.
Defensive Shotgun (2 days)
Understand the shotgun’s true capabilities and limitations.
Learn the facts and appropriate skills about the pump-action
or semiautomatic home defense shotgun in this course.
Low Light Shooting Techniques (4 hours)
Learn and become proficient with the techniques necessary
for low light target engagement. Experience the use of night
sites, flashlights and other light sources used to hit your target.
Low Light Pistol Operator (1 day)
This course is a blend of techniques and tactics used to prevail
in a short time duration, close proximity, low light encounter.
Learn how to effectively and safely use the latest in
handgun/flashlight combinations to search, navigate, locate
and identify potential threats in your environment.
NRA Personal Protection in the Home (1 day)
Learn safe and effective techniques of home firearms safety
and defense in the home. NRA and SIGARMS Academy certificates will be issued by the certifying instructor upon successful
completion of this course.
Alternative Pistol Shooting Positions (1 day)
Learn the skills and confidence you require to make those difficult
shots that need to be made from an improvised position. After
completion of this course, you will be able to safely and effectively
engage targets from multiple alternative shooting positions.
Precision Hunting Rifle (3 days)
Prepare yourself for the upcoming hunting season. Hone your
skills with a scoped hunting rifle and associated hunting equipment.
Learn equipment operation and maintenance, ballistics, alternative shooting positions, range estimation and unknown distance
target engagement in these three information-packed days.
Bang and Clang: GrayGuns Practical Steel Course (2 days)
Nothing beats the pure thrill of 2-action packed days of steel shooting at the SIGARMS Academy. This intense, outdoor speed shooting
course is designed to enhance your practical steel shooting skills.
Self-Defense Law and Basic Threat Management Seminar (1 day)
Knowing when to shoot for personal protection is as important
as knowing how to shoot. Understand the key elements of the
law of self-defense, and be prepared to prevail in the inevitable
legal aftermath of a deadly-force incident. This course includes
both classroom and range work.
New SIG 556 Operators Course (2 days)
Learn how the SIG 556 rifle operates and gain the skills to put it
to work on the range. You’ll be guided through step-by-step
operations with this rifle on and off the range, in addition to its
proper maintenance and care, the Academy provides all SIG 556
rifles as well as ammunition for this course.
Survival Fundamentals (2 days, overnight)
Apply the basic 5 priorities of survival (water purification, shelter
building, fire building, emergency signaling, and food procurement), to every situation where your survival is a matter of
knowledge and skills. Test your ability to utilize these skills in an
overnight stay at the SIGARMS Academy.
Armorer Certification: 550 Series Rifles (1 day)
This hands-on program teaches and guides you step-by-step
through field armorer operations of the 550 Series Rifle. Extra
time is given to the student to become thoroughly familiar with
the mechanical operation of this law-enforcement carbine.
Armorer Certification: SIG SAUER® Pistols (2 days)
A hands-on program focusing on the mechanical functioning,
maintenance, troubleshooting, and field repair of the SIG SAUER®
classic line of pistols. This course teaches and guides you
through all armorer operations in the type of learning environment favorable for the retention of the material.
Intermediate Level
1911 Operators Course (1 day)
This course takes you step-by-step through how to safely and
effectively disassemble, reassemble, maintain, handle, and shoot
your GSR. Upon completion of the course, you will have the
skills necessary to excel with this SIGARMS single action 1911.
New Bullets and Vehicles (1 day)
This course covers everything you need to know about using
vehicles in a defensive situation. Learn firsthand how to, and
more importantly how not to, use a vehicle for cover. Shoot from
inside the vehicle, through the vehicle (and windshield) and
under the vehicle during this course. If vehicles and firearms are
a part of your everyday life, then this course is a must!
Close Quarter Pistol Operator (1 day)
This intensive course focuses on advanced, state-of-the-art
shooting techniques that have worked repeatedly on the street
and in close proximity events. Learn the thresholds of point
shooting and precision shooting on close quarter targets, while
experiencing a good blend of speed and accuracy.
Concealed Carry Pistol – Intermediate (2 days)
Obtain a solid foundation of defensive handgun skills and techniques as well as applicable information for concealed carry and
personal defense in this course. For individuals who intend to
carry a concealed defensive pistol and are seeking handgun
skills for self defense in their everyday environment.
New Concealed Carry Techniques (4 hours)
Get a taste of our 2-day Concealed Carry Course with this introductory class. Learn the basics of concealing a pistol in a strong
side hip holster and how to engage targets from a concealed
carry posture.
Extremely Close Quarters Battle with Todd Rassa (2 days)
Learn pistol fighting techniques and tactics within arms reach
distances. Take the lessons learned from this course and apply
them to personal situations or agency training regimens.
Run and Gun 101 with Bruce Gray (2 days)
This popular “Run and Gun” class focuses on movement skills
and advanced shooting techniques on multiple targets from
props and positions. You will learn to master the tactics for
various courses of fire through pre-stage preparation and
mindset. This is an exciting, fun and fast-paced course based
on USPSA© steel and scenario shooting.
New Introduction to International Defensive Pistol Association
Competition with Mike Briggs (2 days)
Improve or begin shooting in America’s fastest growing practical
pistol discipline, the International Defensive Pistol Association
(IDPA). This class will open the door to a fun and realistic way to
improve your gun handling skills. Concludes with a classifier drill
to measure your performance level.
Point vs. Precision Shooting (4 hours)
Understand the components of point shooting through the natural
ability of eye/hand coordination. Learn the difference between
point shooting and precision shooting techniques and when to
apply these skills based on the situation at hand in this course.
Practical/Tactical Handgun Skills with Ron Avery (5 days)
An advanced handgun skills course designed to hone your handgun shooting skills to a razor’s edge. This course includes 5 days
of non-stop shooting action using Ron Avery’s acclaimed scientific
method of shooting skill development.
Shooting Out of Your Comfort Zone (1 day)
Explore a variety of techniques and concepts to expand your
portfolio of shooting skills. Improve your level of shooting through
a combination of academic and practical exercises in this
intensive 8-hour course.
Shooting On the Move (1 day)
Develop your shooting skills from static mode to dynamic mode
by incorporating realistic moving and shooting drills. Learn pivots
and turns in addition to linear and lateral techniques used in
tactical target engagement.
Single Hand Pistol Techniques (4 hours)
Fine tune your ability to engage targets and manipulate your
semiautomatic pistol with one hand. Learn how to load, reload,
perform immediate action and clear your pistol when only one
hand is available.
Skill Builder: Pistol or Semiautomatic Carbine (1 day)
Sharpen your shooting skills while enjoying endless shooting
drills with the professionals from the SIGARMS Academy.
Skill Drills for the Competitive Shooter (4 hours)
A series of skill drills to give the competitive shooter the competitive edge needed to move to the next level. Drills included are:
Precision, Speed, Near to Far, Multiples and Movement, and
shoot smooth and fast, all using the SIG (Simple is Good)
principle of shot delivery.
Advanced Level
Concealed Carry Pistol – Advanced (2 days)
For individuals who wish to improve their defensive pistol skills
from concealment. This course emphasizes advanced shooting
drills, operating in diminished light conditions, judgment drills,
and tactical target engagement.
Advanced Handgun Skills with Ron Avery (2 days)
Moving beyond basic concealed carry courses, this course provides you with the necessary skills, training and knowledge to
effectively use a handgun for personal defense. Designed for
individuals who are already proficient with firearm handling and
basic marksmanship skills.
Long Range Pistol Shooting (4 hours)
Refine your skills and engage small targets at long distances,
while maximizing the accuracy potential of your pistol or revolver
during this course.
Courses for the Armed Professional
New Active Shooter Immediate Rapid Response with
International Defense Force (3 days)
A comprehensive and intense course designed to give the armed
professional the necessary core competency skills and knowledge
required to perform immediate rapid response to active shooter
situations. This course includes the current tactics and techniques
used by Israeli armed professionals to suppress and overcome
the violent active shooter.
Ballistic Shield Users Course (1 day)
Learn proper use of the ballistic shield with appropriate handling
and safety instruction. Experience live fire exercises, crowd
control, downed officer extraction drills and force-on-force
scenarios during this course.
Concealed Carry Pistol for Instructors (3 days)
Learn how to establish a training course utilizing concealed carry
techniques which can be easily reproduced for development of
an effective in-service, job specific curriculum for your agency.
You will learn methods of teaching the practical application of
the concealed carry pistol in the law enforcement environment. In
addition, training methods of subject control, use-of-force, weapon
retention and concealed carry techniques will be addressed.
New Counter-Terrorism Immediate Rapid Deployment with
International Defense Force (3 days)
An introduction to the experience-based methods of the Israeli
Special Forces and police units for tactical counter-terror
engagements. The focus of this course is to educate the student
on the real outcomes that occur in urban terror attacks, and to arm
the operator with the necessary mindset, knowledge and tactics
to rapidly assess, dominate and resolve a terror attack incident.
Counter Terrorism Techniques for the First Responder with
Todd Rassa (2 days)
Study an overview of the Islamic Extremism and al-Qaeda organizations in this unique course. Designed for the law enforcement
operator and/or trainer, military and executive protection specialist.
Introduction to Executive Protection Course (2 days)
Develop an understanding of the principles, defensive tactics,
and methods used as an executive protection specialist during
this introductory level course. Designed for individuals interested
in pursuing a career in executive protection, this course will
teach you the fundamentals such as advance and site survey,
protective formations and surveillance detection.
Police Sniper Course I (5 days)
Further advance your skills as an assigned precision
rifleman/observer or instructor in a course that emphasizes
the "science" rather than the "art" of sniping. Designed to
further advance the capabilities of the assigned precision rifleman/observer by developing proficiency in tactical scoped rifle
marksmanship, field craft and observation skills.
Executive Protection Operations Course (5 days)
Understand the principles, tactics and methods used in protective service operations. Based on current federal and military
protective service courses, this in-depth course is designed for
the aspiring executive protection specialist performing low to
medium-risk protective operations utilizing concealment and low
public profile techniques.
Police Sniper Course II (5 days)
Designed to build on the foundation established in Police Sniper
Course I, this course concentrates on moving silently, seeing in
acute detail, and shooting farther, faster and with more precision.
Includes a very brief review of the PSC I curriculum.
Executive Protection Tactics Course (3 days)
Designed for the armed executive protection specialist, this
advanced course will provide you with the skills required to
enhance your job-related tactical skills. This course focuses on
dynamic firearms and tactics drills such as use-of-force, protective walking and driving formations, and selection and utilization
of cover and concealment with a protectee.
New Firearms Instructor Recertification (3 days)
This three gun (pistol, rifle and shotgun) instructor recertification
course covers everything from instructor development to coaching techniques utilizing best practices. Students will leave this
course with a three-year certification and a fresh outlook on
firearms education and training.
Maximizing Performance with Smaller Defensive Handguns (2 days)
This fast-paced course focuses on the use of the smaller handgun
as a viable self defense tool. Topics covered include equipment
selection, system capabilities and the enhancement of operator
skill. Live fire exercises emphasize a rapid response and the
delivery of accurate, neutralizing fire to one or more adversaries.
NRA Handgun/Shotgun Instructor Course (5 days)
This course provides instructor development techniques pertaining
to the handgun and the shotgun. Instructional techniques for
handgun handling, marksmanship and tactics are thoroughly
explored followed by fundamental shotgun skills, improvised
positions, firing on the move and transitioning to the handgun.
Patrol Rifle Instructor (5 days)
Become a more effective instructor and enhance your individual
rifle skills and proficiency in this comprehensive course developed for the armed professional. Areas of concentration include
tactical marksmanship development, analysis and coaching of
shooters and close quarter battle techniques.
Police Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun (1 day)
Sharpen your pistols skills and improve your qualification score
with this no frills course. SIGARMS Academy’s world-class
instructors take you through a variety of pistol drills designed to
improve accuracy, speed, and overall performance.
Range Master (5 days)
Expand your knowledge base and operational efficiency in
areas relating to officer survival, program management,
and range operations. Our Range Master program provides
both technical and management material needed by a range
master or advanced level instructor to administer an effective
firearms program.
Semiautomatic Pistol Instructor (5 days)
Learn to create a reproducible training foundation from which
to develop an effective in-service, job specific curriculum for
your agency in this comprehensive instructor development
course. Combines survival learning theory, practical application
of the pistol and stimulus/response training principles with
practical/tactical exercises.
Shotgun Instructor (4 days)
This course is directed towards current and future firearms
instructors specifically interested in the law enforcement
shotgun. Topics included are shotgun type, nomenclature,
function and operation, shotgun shooting tactics and techniques,
ammunition selection and emergency transition to a sidearm.
Course certification is valid for three years.
