MatchTime Features Four Levels of Complexity The MatchTime program for Macintosh and Windows supplies a simple, accessible, and colorful context for practice telling time. It features both dial clocks and digital clocks and provides four levels of complexity. Within each level the program presents matching tasks of increasing difficulty, requiring a minimum number of correct answers at each task before progressing to harder problems. Learners can begin work in any level by clicking the appropriate button on the title screen. Level 1: MatchTime to the Hour Level 1 focuses on recognition of the 12 hours on the dial clock and their equivalent digital representation. It begins with 3, 6, 9, and 12 o’clock on clocks of the same type, and ends with matching all hours between clocks of different types. Level 2: MatchTime to the Quarter Hour Level 2 adds the important divisions of the hour to the matching tasks beginning with half-hours and moving on to quarter-hours. Level 3: MatchTime to the Minute Level 3 begins with the 20-minute divisions of the hour, then narrows the focus gradually through 10- and 5-minute intervals down to single minutes. Level 4: MatchTime Earlier and Later Level 4 presents the added challenge of finding times earlier or later than the target time. At first, MatchTime offers one-hour spans that progress to longer whole-hour intervals. Then the emphasis shifts to shorter and longer durations in minutes. Finally, MatchTime combines hours and minutes in problems that truly test time-telling skills. To review a list of tasks in each MatchTime level, select Task list under the Help menu on the title screen. Progress Tracking On-screen feedback As the learner advances in each level of MatchTime, small stars glow in a row on the match screen, and the star on the level’s title screen button gets brighter and brighter. When the learner clicks the Score button, MatchTime displays the stars earned in each level. Logging in and out To track progress for more than one session of using MatchTime, choose Log in from the File menu on the title screen. You can log in as a new learner, or choose a progress file from a previously saved session. MatchTime automatically saves the progress until you select Log out or Quit. Progress reports Although the score display indicates progress in the levels in a general way, MatchTime can furnish a detailed report of the learner’s performance on each task within the levels. Select the Progress Report entry in the File menu to read, print, or save a detailed or summary report. Custom Settings Scanning selection Learners who access the computer with a single switch will be able to use MatchTime when Scanning selection is enabled. Each of the three choices on the match screen will light up in turn. Pressing the spacebar or return key selects the current choice. Use the up and down arrow keys to speed up or slow down the scanning. Keyboard selection To select a matching time via the keyboard without scanning, press the ①, ② or ➂ keys at any time. To see the choices labeled, enable the Show keyboard numbers entry in the Settings menu. Extra challenge Most matching tasks in MatchTime require 2, 3 or 4 consecutive correct answers before proceeding to the next task. When you select Extra challenge, MatchTime doubles its requirement. Prompts Turn on MatchTime’s audible prompts by selecting Spoken prompts in the Settings menu. To have the prompt repeated at random intervals, select Repeat prompts. Accessibility Options In addition to using scanning or the keyboard for selection MatchTime has built-in support for the Intellikeys ® input device. The CD contains a graphics file of MatchTime’s Intellikeys® overlay. A sturdy printed version can be ordered from Attainment Company through its catalog or web site.
