To our International Students:
As President of Universidad International, and on behalf of the entire faculty and staff,

About Cuernavaca
Cuernavaca (Nahuatl Cuauhnahuac: near the woods) is the capital and largest city of the state of Morelos in Mexico.
The city is located about 85 km (53 mi) south of Mexico City. The city was nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring”
by Alexander von Humboldt in the nineteenth century. It has long been a favorite escape for Mexico City and foreign
visitors because of its warm, stable climate and abundant vegetation. Aztec emperors had summer residences here,
considering its location of just 1 hour drive from Mexico City and ideal location, Cuernavaca traditionally has been a
center of Mexican society and glamor, with many of the country’s wealthiest citizens owning sprawling mansions and
haciendas in this cultural haven. Cuernavaca is also host to a large foreign resident population, including large numbers
of students who come to study the Spanish language.

Palacio de Cortez, Cuernavaca Morelos.
About Universidad Internacional
History
The origins of Universidad Internacional go back to the year 1980, when The Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies
was founded. Its mission was, and is, the teaching of the Spanish language and Mexican culture at the University level to
non-Mexican students from all over the world. In 1997, The Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies evolved into
Universidad Internacional, extending its institutional benefits to Mexican students. Universidad Internacional has opened
new possibilities for exchange programs, bi-national degrees and general enrichment for international education. Foreign
students have the possibility to enroll in classes with Mexican students. This integration is invaluable to both Mexican and
international students. The opportunities to learn Spanish in this setting make Universidad Internacional one of the best
options for foreign students. The NY Times once mentioned “Of all languages schools in Mexico and they number in the
hundreds this may well be the best.

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain
Uninter, Cuernavaca, Morelos.
The Center for International Education
The Center for International Education offers international students the opportunity to build global competences required
for today’s professional world.
At Universidad Internacional students have at their reach different programs designed to enhance their abroad experience,
either as an independent student or as part of an exchange agreement.
My semester here at Universidad Internacional has been an incredible
experience. I have met students from all over the world and have
gotten to experience Mexico hands on, while being challenged every
day by my teachers to achieve a greater Spanish speaking ability.
Maria Block, South Dakota, USA
I will never forget this amazing experience I had here in
Cuernavaca, and thanks to Uninter, I fulfilled my goal of
improving my Spanish.

DELE Preparation Course
Spanish as a second language certification (DELE) is an official document and are the only certificates recognized in the
world of businesses, chambers of commerce, and private and public educational institutes.

would greatly benefit from obtaining the DELE certification. You can obtain your DELE certification at a beginner, intermediate,
or advanced level.
The Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies at Universidad Internacional, is the first institution in central Mexico to
offer both, preparation courses and the application of the DELE exam.

The Intensive Spanish Language Program is very popular and enrolls a large number of students. This is the core program
at the Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies. We employ the concept of intensive, small group learning for Spanish
language instruction. No more than five students are assigned to a professor, who works on a personal basis with each
student. Our Experienced Faculty is highly qualified in modern methods and techniques on the teaching of Spanish as a
second language to foreign students .

Internships
Combine study abroad with an amazing internship opportunity.
Universidad Internacional offers a unique opportunity to participate in internships. Students will gain not only valuable work experience,
but will also explore a particular field from the viewpoint of the Mexican culture. They may receive credits for their participation in the
internship if they wish. Students who do request to receive credits should speak with their academic advisor at their home institution
previous to registering in the program in order to insure that the credits may be transferred.

I have lived in Cuernavaca and it was delightful.
Those working in the Spanish and the Study
Abroad office do everything the can to help
the students with everything they need and
make sure they have the best experience while
in Mexico. Besides the school, i loved mexican
food, the people are so wonderful and caring.
Cuernavaca is a safe city and is close to many
popular places like Mexico city, Tepoztlan.
Teotihuacan and many others. I am very lucky
to be here and I’m glad to have chosen UNINTER
for this experience.

Transcripts
After completing your period of study at Universidad Internacional, we will send an official transcript to your university
registrar, stating the courses that you studied the credits you earned and the grade awarded.
Advising
All International students are given an adviser when they start their studies with us. They can offer you support and advice
on any academic or non-academic matter.
Computer Labs
We have several computer labs. The labs are open from 7 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 2
pm.
Accomodation
One of the most important aspects of the student experience at Universidad Internacional is living with a Mexican host family.
Universidad Internacional’s Housing Department has put a great deal of effort into the selection of these families to assure
that students will be comfortable and safe, and able to practice their Spanish in a constructive way. Host families provide
their students an inside view to Mexican culture, its values and beliefs. They open their homes to their students and consider
them as a part of the family. It is for those reasons that host mothers enjoy being called “mamá” by their host “children”. The
host mothers are very concerned about the wellbeing of their students and are sensitive to their needs while they are far
from home. It is not unusual for strong friendships to develop between host families and students. Students often stay in
touch with their host families long after their stay in Cuernavaca.
