Since 1980, Universidad Internacional has been committed to offering a top quality education to help individuals, like you, attain their personal and academic goals. With talent and care provided by our faculty and staff, you can join over 60,000 skilled and confident Mexican and foreign Universidad Internacional graduates who have moved on to pursue their personal dreams and career aspirations. You have just taken the first step toward preparing yourself for the future. www.uninter.edu.mx We look forward to helping you achieve your goals. “The first condition of understanding a foreign country is to smell it.” – Rudyard Kipling About Cuernavaca Cuernavaca (Nahuatl Cuauhnahuac: near the woods) is the capital and largest city of the state of Morelos in Mexico. The city is located about 85 km (53 mi) south of Mexico City. The city was nicknamed the “City of Eternal Spring” by Alexander von Humboldt in the nineteenth century. It has long been a favorite escape for Mexico City and foreign visitors because of its warm, stable climate and abundant vegetation. Aztec emperors had summer residences here, considering its location of just 1 hour drive from Mexico City and ideal location, Cuernavaca traditionally has been a center of Mexican society and glamor, with many of the country’s wealthiest citizens owning sprawling mansions and haciendas in this cultural haven. Cuernavaca is also host to a large foreign resident population, including large numbers of students who come to study the Spanish language. www.uninter.edu.mx “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – St. Augustine Palacio de Cortez, Cuernavaca Morelos. About Universidad Internacional History The origins of Universidad Internacional go back to the year 1980, when The Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies was founded. Its mission was, and is, the teaching of the Spanish language and Mexican culture at the University level to non-Mexican students from all over the world. In 1997, The Center for Linguistic & Multicultural Studies evolved into Universidad Internacional, extending its institutional benefits to Mexican students. Universidad Internacional has opened new possibilities for exchange programs, bi-national degrees and general enrichment for international education. Foreign students have the possibility to enroll in classes with Mexican students. This integration is invaluable to both Mexican and international students. The opportunities to learn Spanish in this setting make Universidad Internacional one of the best options for foreign students. The NY Times once mentioned “Of all languages schools in Mexico and they number in the hundreds this may well be the best. www.uninter.edu.mx “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” – Mark Twain Uninter, Cuernavaca, Morelos. The Center for International Education The Center for International Education offers international students the opportunity to build global competences required for today’s professional world. At Universidad Internacional students have at their reach different programs designed to enhance their abroad experience, either as an independent student or as part of an exchange agreement. My semester here at Universidad Internacional has been an incredible experience. I have met students from all over the world and have gotten to experience Mexico hands on, while being challenged every day by my teachers to achieve a greater Spanish speaking ability. Maria Block, South Dakota, USA I will never forget this amazing experience I had here in Cuernavaca, and thanks to Uninter, I fulfilled my goal of improving my Spanish. www.uninter.edu.mx Fiammy Dizon St Mary´s College of California Fields of Study • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • Accounting Administration and Marketing* Animation and Digital Design Architecture* Business Administration* Business Administration & Tourism* Chemical Engineering Civil Engineering * Communication* Communication and Public Relations Computer Engineering Computer Science Economy and Finances Environmental Engineering Fashion Design Graphic Design Industrial Engineering and Systems* Information Technology International Relations* International Relations and Economy* International Relations and Political Sciences* International Trade* Law* Languages* Mechanical Engineering Mechatronics* Marketing* Marketing and Publicity* Teaching Spanish as second Language and Literature* Industrial Engineering and Quality Systems Information Technology Organizational Psychology Pedagogy Psychology Politic Sciences and Public Management* Master’s Degree Programs: • Computer Networking and Web Technologies • Corporative Finances • Education and Technology • Global Marketing • High Management Administration • Higher Education Pedagogy • • • • • • • • Human Capital Management International Business Administration* Quality Management Quality Management and Human Capital Taxes Teaching English as a Foreign Language Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language* Translation, Interpretation and Cultural Studies Doctorate Degree Program: • International Business Administration Certification Programs: • Artistic Photography • Creativity and Innovation • Decorative Painting • English • English for Business • French • Interior Design • Preparation DELF • Professional Drawing • Sacred Traditions of Humanity Professional Workshops: • Advertising • Animation and Digital Post Production • Construction Management • Criminalistics • High Management Administration • International Commercial Relations • Quality and Productivity • Spanish as a Second Language • Technology Administration • Technology Management • Touristic Promotion *Bachelors with courses in English. El ambiente de la Universidad Internacional es muy agradable, me permiten aumentar mis conocimientos, los profesores ayudan a todos los extranjeros en la integracion, podemos hablar con ellos de todo y para mi es una cosa importante. Descubri muchas cosas muy interesantes y tan diferentes de nuestra cultura. Uninter es una buena universidad y estoy contenta de todo. Gracias a todos! Voy a recomendar esta universidad en Francia Mylène Farcy Universitè de Caen I have lived in Cuernavaca and it was delightful. Those working in the Spanish and the Study Abroad office do everything the can to help the students with everything they need and make sure they have the best experience while in Mexico. Besides the school, i loved mexican food, the people are so wonderful and caring. Cuernavaca is a safe city and is close to many popular places like Mexico city, Tepoztlan. Teotihuacan and many others. I am very lucky to be here and I’m glad to have chosen UNINTER for this experience. www.uninter.edu.mx Todd Tapp Student Services Transcripts After completing your period of study at Universidad Internacional, we will send an official transcript to your university registrar, stating the courses that you studied the credits you earned and the grade awarded. Advising All International students are given an adviser when they start their studies with us. They can offer you support and advice on any academic or non-academic matter. Computer Labs We have several computer labs. The labs are open from 7 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. Accomodation One of the most important aspects of the student experience at Universidad Internacional is living with a Mexican host family. Universidad Internacional’s Housing Department has put a great deal of effort into the selection of these families to assure that students will be comfortable and safe, and able to practice their Spanish in a constructive way. Host families provide their students an inside view to Mexican culture, its values and beliefs. They open their homes to their students and consider them as a part of the family. It is for those reasons that host mothers enjoy being called “mamá” by their host “children”. The host mothers are very concerned about the wellbeing of their students and are sensitive to their needs while they are far from home. It is not unusual for strong friendships to develop between host families and students. Students often stay in touch with their host families long after their stay in Cuernavaca. www.uninter.edu.mx Lodging with Mexican Host Families: Fall Semester Begins First Exam Finals www.uninter.edu.mx “Revolución mexicana” “Día de Muertos” Second Exam August Third Exam 20 December September November 2 October November November “Christmas Eve” “New Year” 24 December 31 December Semester Dates Fall Semester: Semester Ends: Spring Semester: Semester Ends: For more information regarding future semesters please contact [email protected] February January March “Semana Santa” Third Exam March April Spring Semester Ends Finals “Día del Trabajo” 1 May May May www.uninter.edu.mx Spring Semester Begins First Exam Second Exam San Jerónimo 304, Col.
